HTZ Rezound ICS Leaked... Has Same SoC As Us (MSM8660)

Given that the HTC Rezound uses the exact System on Chip (the MSM8660), hopefully this means the majority of drivers required for our build are now out in the wild.

you should repost it in the skyrocket forum since no one is working on ICS here. T989 is waiting for Samsung

Keep in mind that even though they have leaked ics. HTC , Samsung and others use vastly different drivers from each other. Unless its from the galaxy s2 lte ,skyrocket or our phone it really wont help.

The processor being the same enough. The GPU and other sensory drivers are required as well

Accelerometer?
Camera?
Do you get my point now or is the ICS wanting salvation in your mouth blocking the thinking? There is more to these phones than just a processor running a big screen.

I just read an article that explained that the Incredible S is receiving their ICS update today. And basically since that phone is pretty much exactly the same as ours... I dont know much about this kind of stuff but i expect this to be good for us.

Have you tried Aeroevan's CM9 builds? They are stable enough for daily use....

1) being one of 2 or 3 people on this device who actually works with this stuff, im qualified in saying its not any better help than the chinese inc2 roms or the previous inc s ics roms...unless cam libs fix flash timing
2) we need kernel source, and not kernel source for the vivo...i have repeatedly contacted htcdev and keep getting the same run around that they release source 90-120 days after an ota...so for the chinese inc2 ics roms...that could be as late as october
3) no, its not as good as official inc2 verizon ics...not at all...please dont spread false information

4) it doesnt mean anything in relation to our own timeline as to when we will get vzw sense ics...the inc s got sense 3.0 updates that we never got, and its a gsm phone that updates (in theory) much faster than ours do

[ROM][ODIN][TAR] SPH-D705 - Epic 2 (Unreleased) Full ROM

First off, a huge thanks to our friend, Sextape! This leak is courtesy of him. All thanks and donations should go to him.
This leak is for the unreleased Samsung Epic 2 (SPH-D705)! It is build EG03. Build EG03 was an experimental build in preparation for the final build but where the decision was made to not release the phone this was the final build for it.
It is a Gingerbread based ROM and appears to be mostly compatible with the original Samsung Epic and the Samsung Epic 4G Touch with only minor modifications. I myself do not have an Epic to test on so I haven't been able to do much with it. I've played around with it on the E4GT and have had relative success porting it over but I've got to many other projects on my plate to spend too much time on it.
I am posting it here for those that are interested in taking on the challenge.
The leak is in a TAR format and contains all the image files for flashing. I've taken them apart and they appear to be very similar to the stock GB for the Epic and the E4GT.
The TAR file is packaged within a self extracting 7zip archive. Once extracted the contents can be flashed as a full TAR file with Odin or Mobile Odin. The individual components can be extracted from the TAR file and also be flashed the same way. Links to both Odin and Mobile Odin are in Post #2.
At this point I've only posted the full TAR. If there is enough demand I can split out the contents and create flashable ZIP etc.

Yep. Same gpu, same system structure, same odin image structure. For you epic touch users, this may not be worth porting. Its old and will probably be the same as any other 2.3.4 stock rom. I would assume the ui and apps are the same.

D705 huh... so is it only half of what the E4GT is? Was this what was supposed to be the 2nd generation of the original Epic and the idea was scrapped???

Essentially, an epic touch with keyboard, but rwilco12 says it was cancelled due to the epic touch's surprisingly good sales.
The leaks said it was going to have an overclocked hummingbird processor like the one found in the epic, however it actually had the same processor as the epic touch (at least as of the time this build was made).

The link that says which part? I know its the exynos processor because it has the mali gpu drivers. And the part about the epic touch having better sales than expected was said by rwilco12 (the OP) in the OG epic thread about this.

Now that's interesting - this sounds like the repacked GS(I) that T-Mo and others released. Specs are almost identical to what was being described above... faster processor, less memory but a great phone if you wanted something better than the original GS but don't need the GSII.
Wouldn't this be a variant then of the i9001?

More like the captivate glide and s2 series since this build had exynos4 chip files like mali gpu files and not powervr.

[Q] FFC/WiMax drivers for ICS/Jellbean

I understand this has been brought up a lot, but, there has yet to be a definitive thread concerning Full Front Camera and WiMax driver development for implementation into ICS/Jellybean ROMs. I would like to begin this discussion with "Where do we start?" I understand the drivers would predominately have to be written from scratch, but, isn't how the drivers are written in Gingerbread AOSP versions significant and a place to start so that one could compare the kernel drivers in phones with similar specs? Where can this driver code be found? What phones have similar internals that we can compare their ICS/Jellybean drivers with our own? I am willing to put in the work and would like to find a couple more devs interested. IMO, the EVO 4g is a great phone. It is one of few that has so many feature you simply can't find on newer phone models (HDMI out, internal SD card expansion slot) Let's get down to it and get full functionality. It's possible. Teamwin did it with WiMax for Gingerbread AOSP and it can be done again here with FFC and WiMax (respectively) Questions? Comments? Who's in?

How many times is this going to be asked and answered before it stops coming up? It's not going to happen now or ever, period, end of story. The drivers didn't just slightly change between gb and ics they changed almost entirely. The drivers are proprietary software, ie. No public documentation exists to assist in rewriting new ones from scratch. Without HTC or qualcomm releasing them (never going to happen so don't hold your breath) there's nothing to be done. They aren't basic linux driver's the are entirely custom driver's written specifically for each piece of hardware. Even devices with similar specs have entirely different drivers. It's not impossible but no one is going to spend months and months writing proprietary drivers from scratch for a 3year old device. Use GB of you want FFC and WiMax or use ICS/JB and deal with them not working. Those are your only options.

Kinda like full frontal nudity huh? I actually worked on these drivers for a few months before I swapped to my s2 full time early last year. They just aren't gonna be scratch written by any less than a team of 4+ software engineers and at least a few months id guess 3+ after the 2.5 months I worked on em I only had em working about 25% I could trigger the hardware but no software interface would work and I couldn't find any publicly available documentation for the software or hardware to try and reverse engineer a workaround. I did manage to pull drivers for other devices with the same family of hardware for both GB and ICS and the GB drivers vs GB driver's for the 2 devices were entirely different and then the matching device drivers GB/ICS were entirely different again so they were useless as a reference. It's just not gonna happen unless htc or qualcomm release the drivers or the documentation on the hardware so they can be reverse engineered

hit a snag the camera works but you cant do anything with it if you take a picture or try to video chat the camera force closes

yeah asphalt 8 isn't supported in my galaxy s3 it's a dual core 1.5GHZ 1.5GB RAM, this is very disappointing
