hi guys, today i updated my stock rom with the latest ruu from the shipped rom sticky, then was prompted about an ota which i updated and am now running 2.14.401.1.
i flashed latest clockwork recovery from bootloader, and from cwm flashed superuser which was all fine and the icon is sitting in my app draw, but none of my apps are being granted superuser access all are denied.
Another strange thing is im s-off and have been for a long long time, but now in bootloader it still states im s-off but at the top it says locked.
should i flash an older ruu to downgrade hboot or has anyone got another suggestion.
thanks guys.
edit: heres the info from my bootloader

You are S-OFF, so NAND protection is also disabled.
If ***LOCKED*** is still buggin' you download my bootloader controller here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530864
Flash it in cwm and from the menu choose unlock.
Any idea why superuser don't work on that Rom?
Well, I don't even know the reason for the update.
it's a fota containing hboot 1.09.0099. this is the htcdev hboot which voids warranty.
And another funny thing is: I don't get the update message. not even when returning to stock.

I have downloaded the Update for Superuser and now it always say that my SU Binary is too old. But if i want to update it, it get an error at the point to get the /System write rights.

The currently installed ROM is CM7 Nightly 199
and the CWM Version is 2.5.0.1
And sorry for my bad English, i prefer German
From what I could tell, the S-ON seems to be the problem.
and how do i make it s-off?
cause my h-boot is 0.80.0002 and Alpharev X only works with 1.00.0001
From i know you need to update to official 2.2 with a RUU and then s-off.
Check one of stickies in development for more details.

Hi, can't remember exactly my method but try to explain best I can.
I flashed safe not rooted rom from 3xeno's sticky page. Then I downloaded on PC the ruu. Exe and this is the part o can't remember but I got the rom image from the exe and turned it into a pc49 img then placed on SD root and rebooted into hboot? ( Power + vol down ). It did its magic then I just used revolutionary to s-off and did clean install of cm7 to replace revs su. Hope this makes sense!!! And is of help.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
To update the su, just flash the signed zip from here: http://androidsu.com/superuser/
With a RUU, you must be in Android. (so not fastboot or anything else).
Then, if it works.
You open Revolutionary (you found it on revolutionary.io) in admin mode. And then it's okay
I just got a replacement Wildfire S and have sucesfuly s-off'ed it and unlocked the boot loader; but, i can not root it. Iv'e tried Super One Click, GingerBreak, and HTC Super Tool. none of these work. they usualy say that it rooted but never actualy do.

The same issue.
I have had the same problem. I unlocked my boot loader, with S-ON..and i tried rooting the phone through Htc Supertool(said ROOTED)..it has installed/pushed the Superuser file into the phone..but hasn't really rooted the phone.. So whenever i try using apps that need a 'Rooted' phone..it says that Superuser has denied permissions..i just dont know what to do..Help for me would be totally appreciated as well..

Hi, I have a VM Wildfire S that I just returned to stock on with unlocked bootloader, s-off, and finally rooted it . The all in one utility from rezo69 works pretty well to get it rooted.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697985 The only issue i had with it was the recovery that flashes during part of the root process wont boot on my phone. So after getting the root files on my sd card I had to flash another recovery to be able to get into it(unofficial cwm 5.0.2.6 works well, thanks alquez). Also the su binary installed is out of date and wont update for me so I had to go to the chainsdd su website and download a recovery flashable zip for the binary. Some patience and googleing you should be able to figure it out.
Thanks
Thanks a lot guys, I got it rooted I tried your tool GuitarFreak12 but sadly it diden't work :/ i downloaded that custom recovery sugested by bobdarkside and then used a flashable root from the user rgsgroup2005, and that finaly worked. also fixed another problem; my CWM on my last wildfire s froze up when i tried to flash anything. This one worked.
Thanks a lot guys!
Flash CWM (http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvelc.img)
HBOOT>Fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvelc.img
Flash http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.2-arm-signed.zip and http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip (You must flash BOTH)
You are now rooted.

You need stock recovery installed for OTA to proceed, no custom recovery.
Check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Or you can go here and use the sdcard method to install the RUU.

It is possible to unlock it with the same unlock code that i received?
Problem solved by re unlocking and flash the stock recovery , it happens that it has custom recovery which i dont
remember when i installed it.
another thing , i remember clearly that Unlocking bootloader require erasing data, but when
i was trying to unlock after the first page of unlocking process, it took me to the recovery , and it is done
and no thing erased.
Bit of history here :
I had rooted and flashed TWRP etc prior to 4.4.4
Once 4.4.4 came out OTA nagging annoyed me, so i went back to stock, stock recovery, unrooted but still S-OFF running Super CID.
4.4.4 then took via OTA no problem.
Nothing has changed on phone since. Yet lollipop OTA won;t take (Red Exclamation).
I'm on 3.28.401.9 (shown via settings)

I was unrooted and it didn't work. I then rooted it and tried again - still didn't work.
I've given up and am downloading the lollipop RUU to blast the whole thing back to standard.
looks like the only way for now
I had the same problem. Flashed a Nandroid for my device, went back to stock recovery for that backup and did not root. Worked a treat and I'm now on Lollipop. I'd suggest you try the same.

Copy OTA zip to your laptop. Unzip it and find framwork.zip. use 7zip to browse firmware zip and extract recovery.img and flash this one, erase cache and try to install OTA. I had same problem by doing this OTA got installed.

You cant flash an ota with a custom recovery. You have to flash stock recovery to begin with.
You cannot flash an ota unless you already are on the right full stock rom that matches the ota.
I dunno where to get stock recovery. If you can find an ruu can unpack it. But im sorry to say I cant remember how to do this.
This is the only source that is still up with plenty of ruu's: http://www.gsm-file.com/files/endeavoru-631
Perhaps you can find the right ruu for you device. If you do you don't have to bother with the ota. Just flash the whole ruu.
If you find the right ruu but its an older one. You can flash this then use the ota you tried to flash above.
