Now that we have root is it going to be worth messing with this phone's pixel density? I would like the icons to be a little smaller and sharper but if changing the pixel density is going to have negative cascading effects with the phone I am pretty happy with where my phone is now with running Launcher Pro.
If it is going to make sense to mess with the density what application would I need to make those changes?
Thanks again!
it will always have some side effect specially on games and the Dialer app
Calendar gets all messed up too. Seems like the videos in the market disappears

Density changes will make changes in what the market shows you and how the market looks.
I tried the LCD Density app from the Market, setting it to 200. The icons/screen looks better. Will this damage anything by running it? I don't seem to notice any immediate changes in Market, etc.
I tried 200,220,230 all look like ****. Went back to 240 and used spare parts to reduce font size instead. Any phone I ever used chaning the screen density always looked like crap.

210 on LCD Resolution works the best for me. The launcher and notification bar and icons don't suffer from any blur.

Same here...I mean, I dont think they looked bad, I just cant stand knowing the dialer looked like it did, and a couple apps got super small and the market was missing the videos link I think it was, so I just said screw it and went back to 240
What app are yall using?

did you guys who are experiencing issues turn off compatibility mode?
i set mine at 200 using lcd resolution. the stock launcher look weird so i downloaded go launcher ex and it looks really good! i have my home screen grid set at 5x5 and it looks good. the dialer looks weird, and i just noticed the compatibility issues in the market people have been mentioning.
Turned off compatibility mode in spare parts and still have issues in the market

+1 in spare parts it will solve most of the issues. Running at 194 using LCD resolution.
I've tried LCD Resolution and after reboot, my screen looks like that. I've installed Spare Parts and unticked compatibility mode and that still happens. Does anyone know why this is happening?
dpi
Isn't there an app that let's you almost emulate changing the dpi on android? Like it shrinks everything or makes it bigger?

your always gonna get that with the stock launcher its not going to scale right you'd have to mess with the apk to get it scale right with a different density.

Thanks. I thought something was severely wrong with my phone when I used it.
Yes, there is an app in the market called LCD Resolution. However, it requires root.
I had the same problem... never found a solution.
There is an app in the market called LCD density (or LCD resolution) which actually works. But I didn't like how the dialer was resized and shifted to the left. Also it doesn't work with all apps.
Sent from my Galaxy S2 Using the XDA premium app.
Higher LCD density makes the picture a lot nicer except it really bugs me that the dialer, calender and calculator don't scale well. Is there a ROM that helps with this?
U dont need a rom
All u need is a specialized theme
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Any themes optimized for it?
Use a an app for those. I use Go dialer, easy calculator and don't use the calendar app. They render pretty well at 160 dpi.

That's what was doing but I'm pretty ocd so I can't do it anymore because when you're in a call and click on dialpad you still get the tiny dialer.

Try replacing the pngs in the res foulders of the apps with higher res versions
But that could cause overlapping instead of what we want

Use a brighter and more stylish ROM, such as Starburst http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276320
Or do what is said above and get custom apps.

Tried it. Its also has the problem with the default apps
On the new ics builds i actually prefered this to the other launchers
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
From what I have seen in all of QBKING77's videos they actually do have it. You sure you dont have another launcher set as default? Go to settings, applications, manage applications, then find TW launcher and clear defaults then hit the home button and it should bring up an option. Check set as default then choose TW launcher.
Im on fc06 caulks stock. the last few ive flashed all seem to be tw3 the transitions are 3d in tw4 whilst tw3 is more less just side scrolling through the home screens. btw thanks for answereing my question
But unless i have some weird flash issue this tw is different from the earlier builds
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I haven't used the tw in the ics leaks. What all have u noticed is different? Maybe since they are leaks Sammy hadn't fully implemented tw in there yet.
If anyone needs any help with the epic touch hit me up on Gtalk @musclehead84

Hmm the only thing I can think of is make sure you have it set to show all animations. To do this, go to settings, display, animations then show all animations. I hope that helps.
Okay i remeber this setting but im not finding it on this rom under settings

Okay im an idiot im using the wrong verbage. Im talking about ics screen transitions. This is for sure touch wiz 4 (pan zoom etc...). After doing some search, it seems that this transitions was removed, I'm not sure why. I found a theme thread that had ics transitions back as part of its title, so I think I've answered my own question
Hi all,
After coming over from the EVO 3D, I found the HUGE fonts, etc on the SGS2 disconcerting and ugly. I longed for my small clear fonts and tight spacing on the EVO3D qHD screen.
So I just downloaded LCD Resolution, a free app from the Market and set the Resolution to 200. Wow, what a difference! It is now just like looking at my EVO 3D with a better screen.
Awesome.
P.S., If you are using LauncherPro which doesn't have the ability to resize icons or fonts as Go Launcher does you will find this especially helpful. I have found Go Launcher to be an FC fest on the SGS2.
The resolution changing doesn't size right with some stock apps so I stay away from it. If the font is to big or not to your liking just change font size and style...try a ics ROM it has the option to change the font size built into the ROM.

What rom are you running?
LCD Density Pro set to 200 causes my phone to freeze on boot with FC15
I used LCD Density Pro to fix market on Touchpad.
Switched my LCD Density to 200 using ROM Toolbox, no problems there on CM9.
I had used LCD Resolution...with my Thunderbolt and ET4G- until I started getting incompatibility to download apps from Google Play (Marketplace). So if you do experience that, you may have to uninstall the app.
Hi guys. Thanks for the responses.
A couple asnwers here regarding LCD Density Pro. Have no idea as my OP is regarding an app called LCD Resolution. I am running the latest EL29 modem. I've tried this on a number of the top roms and all worked fine.
The benefit of this is that it also makes my icons smaller which was the problem when using LP on this device.
I've now set mine to 190 because I like that even better. Sorry it doesn't work for some. Works perfectly for me.

Where is the font size option on tw ics roms? See the font style but I've only seen font size on CM9 roms.
I tried changing the font via rom toolbox on the newest fc15 but it only changed in apps, not the whole rom. Weird.

It's always working fine for me for both GB and ICS.
For any questions, please let me know.
Is there a specific density that keeps the dialer from shifting or a fix?
I love 200 but the dialer is way off.
Thanks

I set my dpi on this phone to 240 and I LOVE it and the market still works fine so far! Just wondering how i can mod the dialer/camera to fit the 240 dpi. And also the stock keyboard dosent work but i dont care much about that i use swiftkey 3.
Shame the standard keyboard doesn't work, I really like it.
As to the dialer? hmm, probably need to get a replacement for that too, shame it doesn't scale either. Someone can probably hack the .apk to allow different dpi's perhaps?

Change the value for ro.sf.lcd_density in the build.prop. You can do this with apps like ROM Toolbox Pro.
I was running 240 as well, and loved it but the camera, dialer and Samsung keyboard issues bugged me enough to go back to 320.
I have mine set at 270 and everything, including dialer and camera works great.

use a different launcher. I use nova
So no suggestions for dialers or camera mods that fix the scaling issues. They are better at 270 but not perfect.

it's on the Sprint Note II forum but I flashed them and they all work well.

Works very well at 240 dpi, it has most of the system apps fixed that dont scale well. Need to flash keyboard zip in the QA page though for 240 dpi.
