Internal SDCARD Memory Wiped?

I decided to flash back to stock because I was having some reboot issues. Everything went fine except that I noticed my internal (sdcard) memory was wiped after returning it to stock and re-locking the bootloader and all my backups were gone and music etc... Is this normal? Kinda crappy since we can't just pull a SDCARD to stop it.

You relocked your bootloader. This will cause a wipe all across the board. If you wipe via recovery, it does not wipe your sdcard.

Relocking the bootloader does not cause a wipe... but unlocking it does.
As well, flashing the data partition with the stock data image will wipe the /sdcard folder.

OP, you may want to seriously consider Titanium Backup if you are not already using it. Then setup a dropbox account, and sync your backups to dropbox. Makes things real easy to restore if you wipe everything. You could also keep a copy of your Titanium backups on your PC for quick retrieval as well.

Both good ideas. I do both of these.

Any way to do this unrooted and still locked? So that when I want to re-root and unlock I wont lose it all again?

Yes. Leave your boot loader unlocked. There is no reason to relock it

Apologies for thread hi-jack...
Gentleman, by leaving the boot loader unlocked will the eventually 4.0.3 OtA still push onto the phone?
I'm completely new to the android scene having come over from the iPhone 4.
- I unlocked bootloader (lost all data as expected)
- Rooted
- Used CMW to install the 8mb 4.0.2 update (GSM)
- Used titanium to back up for the future
- I've left the bootloader unlocked, so my question is - will i have to do the manual update for 4.0.3 as i did with 4.0.2 or will it push?

It will push automatically whether your bootloader is locker or unlocked. However, as with all updates, it may be faster to manually update it if someone who gets it early posts the update link.

No, you can do it with fastboot as well.

Factory reset (or unlock/relock bootloader). Since there are no separate partitions, it will delete everything iirc.

Iv installed the aokp rom after coming from arhd and power amp and double twist don't work which is a major bug
I used this super wipe zip when i flashed arhd and not sure if this is the issue as no1 else seems to have this problem
Power amp just opens then closes and runs a scan in the background which just loops and can't do anything so easiest thing for me is to start from scratch

If you want to go back to stock it should be sufficient to delete all caches from recovery and flash the Galaxy Nexus ICS stock image provided by Google.

Nah I want the aokp rom, its soo good but if power amp doesn't work then its a noo noo
So thought if I wipe it and start fresh all will be good

Factory Reset, while having the bootloader unlocked and while using AOKP, did not delete the contents of my galaxy nexus's SD CARD... WTF?
Unlocking the bootloader will surely erase everything.

Storage issue...

Hey guys! Its been a while since I've rooted a phone (HTC Inspire 4G) but last night I rooted my S3. Today I was checking storage and it says I have 2.62GB left on my internal SD card. I run the numbers on apps, downloads, etc. and it just doesn't add up to using 9GBs of space. I'm running LiquidSmooth with gapps (which downloaded my previous apps from stock via my account). Can someone help me out with this? Even if I have to completely wipe the storage space to get the room back, I'm fine with that. I just don't like not having space especially when there should be way more since there are no pictures or music on the phone. Thanks everyone and its good to be back flashing!

I'm also running into an issue finding flashable .zips that are in my /download folder in Astro but not found when using CWM. Weird...

Disregard not being to find them... Apparently I have a separate folder labeled /sdcard/0 that I have no idea how it was made... Is there a .exe to full wipe/format my sdcard so I can start with a clean slate and then simply restore my current ROM/Kernel? Factory reset, format system, wiping cache and dalvik cache then restoring backup isn't working.

It is now that I reported it for being in the wrong section and a mod moved it.

Anyways, the internal SD card is always going to have much less space then as advertised on the phone. My phone is a 16GB and out of the box I think it had like 13 or so.
You can install TWRP from Goo Manager and use that recovery to make a backup, format your internal storage, then restore data from a backup if you really think you're missing space, but honestly you probably arent.

Thank you for noticing that it was in the wrong forum Tekno.... And for getting that fixed. I understand I have less than advertised but before I rooted it, I backed up all the pictures onto my computer. My phone has no pictures or music on it so I'm trying to figure out where 10GBs have gone.
I will look up TWRP and hopefully that will help...

Well if you've already backed up that you may as well just backup your contacts and anything else you may need and start clean. And by that I mean do a full wipe before flashing a ROM and don't restore data after.

Well, I'm a little too late for all of that now. I soft bricked the phone. Using CWM, I managed to erase everything from the sdcard. All files, all folders, everything. Now when the phone boots it hangs at the "Samsung Galaxy S III" screen. I can, however, get into Download Mode and Recovery Mode. Unfortunately for me though, I do not have the stock ROM .tar and cannot download it due to workstation restrictions. I can also get to Recovery Mode but I have absolutely no files on the sdcard at all and I can't figure out a way to force push LiquidSmooth onto the phone. I receive recognition of connection via ODIN but that program only uses .tar/.gz/.img/etc. and I can't put the LiquidSmooth .zip on that way. Hopefully someone can bring me a copy of the Stock ROM in to work tomorrow as I'm on duty and won't be able to leave work for a while (days).
Oh, it's been a while since I've bricked a phone also. Those days I don't miss...
Are there any other options that I may not have exhausted?

Well heres a few things you can try:
1) ADB to push the rom to the phone
2) Use a proxy service to download original firmware (not sure if your workplace would like that though), Heres a link to the stock ATT firmware, not rooted, pure stock from sammobile http://www.hotfile.com/dl/182319352/b8d55a6/I747UCDLK3_I747ATTDLK3_ATT.zip.html
3) Ask to borrow a co-workers phone to download the file

[Q] kind of funny galaxy nexus root problem

so... i have begin with Nexus Root Toolkit, installed TeamWin Recovery and i copied AOKP on phone... and the funny part is i did format before rom install .
after pressing install it ask me to install something because "your phone is not rooted yet"...
so i did...
it got stuck on google logo...
i previously installed 4.3 because my nexus was bought from samsung and i got low i/o... but somehow it didn't trim...
please help

[Q] Factory Reset when rooted?

I apologize if this is covered elsewhere, I did not come across the question or answer in my search.
I have a Rogers Note II (GT-N7105/SGH-I317M).
It is running stock touch whiz 4.1.2. I had been running custom roms, but after their various issues, I am going with stock samsung at the moment.
I have TWRP installed as the custom recovery, and I used it to restore my backup I took right after rooting.
Not having any issues, but I am simply wanting to know if I can go into Settings >> Backup and Reset and the perform a factory reset of the phone to erase all apps and data.
I am not trying to unroot the phone or anything like that. This phone is a work phone and I am going to be turning it in for the Note 3 next week. I would like to erase my content before doing so, again, not trying to unroot it (I have the tools such as Triangle away, stock firmware and Odin) just want to do a wipe and reset it for the next person who may use it.
So again, the question. If I factory reset via settings will there be any issues or will it simply go back to a rooted blank rom with no apps data?
Or will I end up with a mess?

Factory reset will only wipe your personal data that you entered nothing will affect system or any modifications on it you will see no mess just a clean phone

So I essentially will have a rooted phone with a romantic that is set back to stock? Which is exactly what I am trying to achieve.
The fact that I have twrp installed makes no difference?

Exactly it will not affect system you will have clean stock rooted with twrp installed

I did this many times before with rooted and romed htc devices running things like cm and insert coin + sense but I wasnt sure how pick an already picky Samsung rom would be when rooted.
