Kernel ? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hey so I'm running Blazer 4.0 and would like to undervolt but the stock kernel doesn't support it. Now I'm familiar with flashing kernels thru CWM and all but I see that SteadyHawking has this this recovery/kernel heading which is confusing. Is it safe to just flash true Rogue recovery? Sorry for sounding so newbie but no one learns without asking question. TIA

I think its safe to flash steadys rogue kernel but make sure it is for gingerbread and not ics! If you flash an ics kernel, you might brick your phone. Just double check to make sure

It seems like you can't undervolt gunslinger? On the cool side, it runs butter smooth! Benchmark results simply mesmerized me!!!

You can use Tegrak to undervolt stock kernels.

Need stock kernel

Hello!
I've installed the Rogue Kernel v1.1.3
"Outlaw"
How can I uninstall this kernel and install the Stock Kernel back? Please, give me a link on the stock kernel only?
I really need it. After I flashed this kernel I started to have some very strange errors.
Thank you!

would you mind linking me to the shadow kernel? I can't find it in the dev section

If you are talking about the Stock FC09 deodexed ROM, it already has shadowkernel....I used that to root it.

Was on blue kuban earlier....good battery life when I installed the agar source kernel. I am on aokp now and battery life also seems better....been on the phone a lot setting up things and playing with themes and still have decent battery. Screen brightness also seems A LOT brighter than before and I can keep mine set very low with great visibility.

CM9 doesn't have a source built kernel yet but they are working on it. I imagine it would be a little better though as it sounds like they are removing all the blobs of code that arnt necessary.

Quick question. I'm on Calkulin v 3.0 right and want to flash AOKP. Do I just boot into recovery and flash it or do I go back to stock el29 and flash in cwm? Sorry I'm new to this

Do some research tw and cm stuff are a little different on this phone. We do have some one clicks to get you started. Go look in development or search qbking77 on YouTube for some videos.

The safest seems to be direct cwm. But I've used several Agat recoveries and love the tweaks especially battery life. But keep in mind Agats recoveries are for TW Roms. For AOSP and AOKP I use direct cwm.

The link at the bottom of this post has great starter information. Start by reading the op. Then read the threads of the developers to know what kernel does what..
The reason I'm am linking it is that you can get to each developers thread or site and this is a very comprehensive list.
Do not go flashing without reading!
My advice to you is to read ALL the stickies in each sub forum for this phone.

Since recoveries are baked into the kernel it really depends on what kernel you use.
TW ROMs are easily solved by flashing Agat's kernel/recovery repack.
You'll be able to flash to a CM rom but I honestly don't know enough about other kernel/recovery options out there for non-TW ROMS to make a recommendation for you on once you get to CM9/10.
Hope that clears it up a little.
Removed my post. Didn't see Garwynn's response.
:edit: I do have to say, that once you flash a CM build, find out what recovery you are on, then do some research on that recovery before flashing from it. Saw a few post about recent recoveries in CM builds that aren't safe or have possible issues.

Yeah for touchwiz that agat 1.4.2f is the most recent one to date? Is there a dev that would be willing or can bring our stock gb27 kernel to 3.0.94 like blasphemy or lightning kernel? That would be bad ass.

You'll have to ask the kernel devs (Zxo0oxz & thomas.raines) if they're willing to put time into building those kernels for Touchwiz.
