[Q] 4G Icon Instead of H - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Don't know if this has been brought up or if there is a mod for it....
does anyone know how to get a 4G icon instead of H for the GSM version of Nexus? I'm running AOKP M4.

Go get an iPhone 4S. I hear the new update magically updated it for HSPA+ to 4G.

1) download a CDMA ROM
2) open it, pull out the 4G icons
3) open your GSM ROM, replace the H icons with 4G icons
4) profit.
if you're lazy, I'm sure someone will make a flashable zip for you.

I heard that stock Jelly Bean is pretty good.
search the forums for the 100 other threads asking the same question you're asking... or just simply browse through the forums and look for what you like.
cyanogenmod9 is a good choice
Why tie yourself down for two years to Sprint? Should have gotten the GSM version. Cheap and carrier free.

please go in a dark room when you have the phone, slide down the brightness to lowest and see if you get any strange grainy stuff on the screen (mostly on white and grey color background)

I'm getting my Galaxy Nexus tomorrow. It will be my first Nexus and a dualcore device. But lack of MICROSD will make me keep my i9000 as a Hackitouch lol.

I don't see what is unfamiliar about GSM. You get choice of whichever network you want in any country. Verizon and Sprint are CDMA so obviously a GSM Nexus wouldn't work on them.

Why would you suggest that? I'm already familiar with ADB, commands and such, so I can with no issues, however a toolkit seems quicker and easier, no??

I have tried 3 ROMs so far and highly recommend liquid and icsourcery.
I am patiently waiting for JB to evolve a bit more before taking the plunge.

I think it's a lot more fun to do stuff manually, and you actually know and control exactly what processes go on rather than just pressing a button and seeing the outcome...

Will check it out...thanks.

Im curious. Does it crash the RIL if you choose LTE?
Nevermind
Checked stock and it does not show up.
The snap black tho gives me the choices... once selected it reverts to WCDMA Preferred.

Maybe something got incorporated from a Verizon rom on your rom. Stock 4.1.2, MIUI 4.1.2 and the latest cm10 nightly do not show this for me.

That sounds right. I've got a GS3 from Verizon with CM10.1 and I get that 4636 menu. In fact, I needed it last week when I tried to use my phone in Europe. Without changing things in that menu, I wasn't able to get my phone to work on a GSM network.
Even after, I changed it to see the GSM network, I could receive calls, but not texts. I couldn't send texts either.

[Q] New at&t Rom that shows H+ and different phone model

I just installed this ROM and it is great --> [ROM][Jellybean][4.2.2]BeanStalk Build 1.190 {4-15-13}
However, I did notice that even though this my carrier is ATT it shows, 3G, H and H+ symbols instead of 4G.
Also i noticed that my phone model has changed from (i317 mine) to GT-N7105.
Should I not have placed this rom on my phone? Is this because its a cyanogenmod rom 10.1?

That is how its supposed to be. 4g on stock ROM is equal to h/h+/3g on your aosp based ROM. Its just showing the true signal. And yes your phone model will show that unless you change it in the build.prop

I am kinda ocd about the lte thing. I figured if the aocp had it someone else must too.

[Q] Regaining T-Mobile 4G on Cyanogen 10.1 roms?

I have a Galaxy S2 T989 and am on T-Mobile with 4G access. I updated to Android 4.1.2 through Kies and the rooted, and when I'm running that OS I have normal 4G and Wifi action. I flashed Cyanogen 10.1.0, 10.1.1, and 10.1.2 and I lost 4G on all three, even though all of my T-mobile network settings (APN, network mode) were identical to those on my wife's T989 - still running official 4.1.2.
Someone over at Cyanogenmod forums said that I needed to update my radio/baseband. How do I do this?

Do u still have service, are u able to make calls and such? If not I can give u a link to the radio and u just need to flash it in recovery just like a rom, but if u can still make calls and such ur fine but most aosp ROMs like cm don't use a 4g icon so 4g would be equivalent to h++ over signal bars, I only say this because ppl get confused about the actual icon too and wasn't sure what u meant

I do have service, can make calls, internet works. It just seems like internet and wifi are slower on this mod than they are on the official 4.1.2 update. Isn't CM 10.1.2 supposed to be Android 4.2? Wouldn't that be more powerful than 4.1.2?

DC is the same as 4g or h++ just aosp roms use those icons to show speeds instead of the 4g icon, if u look t the actual speed of ur network its the same as 4g
