Hi.
Some time ago I broke screen of my Desire Z and gave it in for repair. Repairmans change the screen, and now it works perfectly, but my GPS stop works at all. If I use google maps or GPS test or other application, what use GPS, icon of GPS connect blink, but program don't see satellites at all (one time, however, after long time "GPS fix" program saw 2 of them, but did not write any other information). I try 3 firmware ( 2.1.13 MIUI on android 2.3, last MIUI on android 4 and last Mimicry) and try SuperWipeG2 without any effect. Repairman told what he don't do anything to damage GPS.
I want to ask, can it be due to bad connection with cable or bad connection with GPS antenna, or I need full GPS repair? And where I can get scheme of Desire Z modules to fix it manually, if problem only in bad connection?
did you try another radio?

No, but I try some firmwares - I think in different firmwares radio is different. I'm wrong?
Solution
Okay, I understood root of problem and fix the phone manually. Because I don't find solution in internet, write it here. Remove the cover, holding by 3 T5 screw. On reverse side of cover you can see 3 yellow plates (probably made of copper). It's GPS antenna. At the appropriate places in the motherboard you can see small legs, 2 legs on each plate. Carefully bend them with tweezers in the opposite motherboard. They need to touch the plates when closing the case. That's all, you GPS is working now.

Guys some of you have a lot of expertise after read a lot here can't found the solution for my gps not locking...The phone is rooted.. And CWM installed.
My android version is 4.1.1 kernel 3.031-215287...Any help is more that welcome.
Most of the issue is related with the GPS when open maps start blinking or navigation...

Silly question but is the GPS turned on? Mine gets a lock in about 3 - 5 seconds. It also locks in my apt, my old infuse would never lock in my apt.
I'm running cleanrom 3.5, and with gps on I sometimes have to reboot to get a fix, even after using something like gps test to update the agps records. But after a reboot, fixes are nearly instantaneous.

I have similar problems on stock, unrooted Bell ROM. Occasionally when I open an app which uses the GPS it won't lock and the GPS icon won't appear on the left of the notification area (flashing or solid). I always leave GPS on all the time. Restarting the phone always solves the problem.

Thanks already remove the battery, turn off the battery and issue continue....
I'm having pretty much the same problem. Most of the time GPS just doesn't work. Weird thing is that it used to be fine. Sometimes a restart will get it working: sometimes it won't and it doesn't stay working for long if it does.
Right now I'm in Raleigh, NC, which is pretty much the center of the state and the weather widget thinks I'm out by the Tennessee border.
I'm used to having to clear that widget's data to make it forget a location and learn a new one if I'm travelling, but now that doesn't work.
Maps doesn't work well because it's using tower data to figure out a very rough location.
I have not tried using one of the GPS fix downloads yet because, quite frankly, the permissions they want pretty much freak me out. Take pictures? Make calls? What's up with that?
Anyone have any experience successfully resolving this problem?
Hi,
Factory reset - done!
Flash Android 2.3 - done!
I had the original Android 2.2 before, so the software is not the reason for my HTC Wildfire display problem.
Display image is moving up/down, the line of notification with signal, battery level..., is going in the middle, bottom of display and so on.... I have a screenshoot and a picture made with a very bad mobile camera, but hope to be enough!
I think few water drops inside 3.5 mm audio jack could be the reason, the warning LED(red one) is not working too.
Had someone the same issue? A way to fix this?

...menu bar is floating from bottom to top, pushing all icons/options and it is nearly impossible to hit the right icon/option. Also when there is a keyboard, it moves up and down but it always reacts when pressed on position where it should normaly stand.
Thanks! So... I'm not the only one with this issue.
I think the reason for this screen it's because i dropped the phone before (3-4 days), but not noticed this right in that moment...
Anyway, I easy dropped the phone with intention several times recetly and the screen was OK for a day... don't know what can it be...
I'll try to find out how can be this problem fixed in a service and how much have to pay for all this...
After all, it seems my display don't want to turn on anymore.
I turned on my phone and it's working, it's able to receive calls with no problem, digitizer is working too because I can answer by tapping the known part of display where is that button!
I want to buy a new display and replace it. Could be anything else that make my display not turning on?
Hey guys i have noticed since replaacing my screenmy gps wasnt working great and now not at all.....
I have tried faster fix
I have tried 2 different roms
I have opened the back up and checked the connecting pins

You've done all of the diagnostic steps I would start with. In the GPS Status app, is your fix/sats ratio 0/0? Or does it at least show satellites like 0/22?
The symptoms you are describing point towards lack of pin contact. I know you checked them already, but it's extremely difficult to tell if the pins are actually making contact once you screw the back of the phone back on. I had this issue once, but found that simply tightening the screws as much as possible without stripping them did the trick. Others who had this issue resolved it by slightly bending the pins higher so they make contact easier.
If you are 100% certain they are making contact, I have no idea what would cause it, considering all of the diagnostic steps you have already taken. If GPS status shows satellites but 0 are fixed, I'm 99% certain it's the pins not making complete contact.
I hope that helps. Good luck, and let me know how it goes.
PS: Make sure the ROMs you are testing with are confirmed to be working with GPS. If you want to rule out custom ROMs as a cause, use a stock ROM.
Ever since I've upgraded to marshmallow, I haven't been able to use the Navigation feature in Maps. The maps correctly show my current location but when I start Navigation in Google Maps, the location remains the same even if I am moving in the car. I have tried Fulmics and Limitless but still facing the same issue. Any thoughts?

nice to see that im not alone but unfortunately for me the problem is im unable to get a fix most of the time but when i do it took a minimum of 8 minutes to get a solid 1 and worst of all it remains even after fully downgraded to stock lollipop and clean wipe via kdz method.. below is a screenshot of my gps status

I will post a fix today, with screenshots and photos of the actual fix that I've done. Stay tuned
The Google API uses something called a "fused" location, which uses a combination of GPS coordinates, network info, and wifi IP. It determines which is the most accurate and delivers that location to the app.
With that said, I have had zero issues on marshmallow ROMs with the actual GPS signal, nor the fused API. Install an app like GPS Status & Toolbox which will detail the actual GPS signal you are getting from each satellite, if any, as well as a fix if you have one. Also, using that app, download the A-GPS assistance file.
If you are getting zero signals from any satellites, it could either be the ROM or a hardware issue. If that's the case, try another marshmallow ROM like the Resurrection Remix ROM. If no luck there, have you done any mods to the internals of the phone? For instance, many users have reported issues after putting thermal paste on the SoC chip for a cooling mod. The thickness of the paste prevents the GPS antenna pins from making contact. Good luck!
So,
1) disassemble your lg g3
2) take out the upper plastic part that contains the on/off and volume buttons.
3) scratch the 2 pins (near my cutter) and also the 2 pins on the plastic part (the 2 pins on the upper left)
4) cut a 3x3mm cartboard and place them under those 2 pins (like in the image - the 2 white pieces)
5) put back everything
6) optional => root + change the gps config file (NTP) . You can use FasterGPS app from playstore.
Before I did this , I was outside in my garden, and I have used the Gps Test app.
There were just 2 or 3 sattelites found, and everytime it didn't lock my position.
After the tutorial that I have given to you, in the same place, I have the reception like in the picture
Hope you liked it

Thanks for the advice, will try it tomorrow. I was having same issue and I changed the gps.config to match my NTP and also I went to the APN and under APN Type I added agps (like this: default, supl, apn). Now I'm having better reception.

Ah, well that could certainly be a lack of contact with the GPS antenna pins. If you can reassemble the G3 again properly with no mods, there is no need to bend the pins (with cardboard or anything else as mentioned by others). That would be addressing the symptom, instead of the cause. The specifications of the G3 allow the pins to easily make contact if everything is in it's place and tightened correctly. When reassembling, I also recommend re-applying blue Loc-Tite on the threads on all of the screws like the manufacturer did to help keep the screws tightened. I personally have modded two G3's with 1mm thermal pads on the SoC, and I still have had no issues with pin contact and have had an excellent GPS signal with a average 6 second fix. Let us know how it goes.
Unfortunately none of the above work for me @AlwaysLucky @arys64 . I tried all the apps and I also put a piece of cardboard under the pins. The GPS Status keeps saying "Waiting for Location".

Oh man, super bummer. It may not be a pin contact issue then. What ROMs have you tried so far? GPS Status "waiting for location" simply means it does not have a fix yet, but it should have a small readout of the signal you are getting from each satellite. (you can get signals from satellites without getting a fix). Post a screen pic of GPS Status for me, if you wouldn't mind.

Well, the number of satellites look average, but they simply aren't getting barely a signal if any at all. If you are sure you have ruled out the ROM as an issue, which it looks like you have, I'd have to say it's a hardware issue. Either your antenna is busted or the GPS receiver chip itself is failing. To me, it looks like the antenna. But if you have confirmed the pins are making contact okay, I'm simply... stumped. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, and my last suggestion would be to triple check those pins are not bent sideways and are still properly soldered to the board and making contact with the antenna. Good luck. :fingers-crossed:

Hey there, a friend of mine was having a similar issue to yours and said he had to flash a different radio for his GPS to get a fix, which is sometimes included the ROM, and sometimes not. You might want to give that a shot?

I think those are the wrong pins. If I remember correctly they are used for Cellular diversity antenna.
The correct pins are shown in http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/d855-gps-fix-possibly-t3450046
(see service manual for details)
