Me too. Having a gps problem right now. What rom u using?
Runnymede AIO V6.0.4.3 S.E
Baseband 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
When using gps status apk..my gps status always in spinning icon that i guess it hardware failure..but i see the gps of desire is in snapdragon chipset..is that possible..so how to repair this problem..or anywork around as i need my gps for my work...any expert member please help me..i also don't know if the system detect my gps hardware..
Install Z-Devicetest from the market and start it.
If the GPS hardware is dead Z-Devicetest will have a red X in the GPS box. If it shows a green check, click on GPS. If NMEA data scrolls, your GPS antenna is likely the problem.
I had a similar issue with my wife's GPS. Eventually it would never see any satellites under GPS Status.
I fixed it by opening up the phone and making sure all GPS connections were good. If you are reasonably handy you can follow these instructions to dismantle the phone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXZqIjtFoAU
The GPS antenna is shown at 2:47 (it has a connector at both ends - make sure that both are snapped into place).
But before you disassemble the phone that far, at 1:49 in the video ("Remove the antenna") try the following: when you have removed the antenna you will see several copper contacts (similar to the two vibrator contacts highlighted in the attached photo). I seem to recall there were 4 copper contacts under that antenna cover. Gently bend the contacts slightly upwards - this will either ensure better contact or (as with my phone) re-establish contact. To remove the antenna is very quick.
In my case, GPS is incredibly strong after this procedure - 10 seconds max. to GPS lock inside the house.
Thank for your solution..but i found my gps antenna is missing so how to find it or replace it...
Are you saying the GPS antenna as shown at 2:48 in the video is not present?
The attached photos all highlight the antenna.
If it is really missing - which seems unlikely - perhaps the GPS antenna cable from the HD2 might work:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HTC-HD2...ccessories&hash=item20c2bf50bc#ht_1761wt_1037
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HTC-HD2...ccessories&hash=item4cfeabdcb9#ht_2413wt_1270
Yes..the cable is missing...so i gonna try to replace it..thanks for the information!!
Thanks
Thanks rete! Your advice worked. Open up my phone, made sure gps antenna was firmly in place at both ends, pulled up the other connectors you mentioned, closed the phone, booted up and it found five satellites instantly.
Really, thanks a lot man. I no longer need to consider upgrading to a newer phone!
Extremely grateful! I had two HTC desireĀ“s and I had repaired the headphone jack in both of them and was going mad as to why the GPS wasn't working.
Ever since I've upgraded to marshmallow, I haven't been able to use the Navigation feature in Maps. The maps correctly show my current location but when I start Navigation in Google Maps, the location remains the same even if I am moving in the car. I have tried Fulmics and Limitless but still facing the same issue. Any thoughts?

nice to see that im not alone but unfortunately for me the problem is im unable to get a fix most of the time but when i do it took a minimum of 8 minutes to get a solid 1 and worst of all it remains even after fully downgraded to stock lollipop and clean wipe via kdz method.. below is a screenshot of my gps status

I will post a fix today, with screenshots and photos of the actual fix that I've done. Stay tuned
The Google API uses something called a "fused" location, which uses a combination of GPS coordinates, network info, and wifi IP. It determines which is the most accurate and delivers that location to the app.
With that said, I have had zero issues on marshmallow ROMs with the actual GPS signal, nor the fused API. Install an app like GPS Status & Toolbox which will detail the actual GPS signal you are getting from each satellite, if any, as well as a fix if you have one. Also, using that app, download the A-GPS assistance file.
If you are getting zero signals from any satellites, it could either be the ROM or a hardware issue. If that's the case, try another marshmallow ROM like the Resurrection Remix ROM. If no luck there, have you done any mods to the internals of the phone? For instance, many users have reported issues after putting thermal paste on the SoC chip for a cooling mod. The thickness of the paste prevents the GPS antenna pins from making contact. Good luck!
So,
1) disassemble your lg g3
2) take out the upper plastic part that contains the on/off and volume buttons.
3) scratch the 2 pins (near my cutter) and also the 2 pins on the plastic part (the 2 pins on the upper left)
4) cut a 3x3mm cartboard and place them under those 2 pins (like in the image - the 2 white pieces)
5) put back everything
6) optional => root + change the gps config file (NTP) . You can use FasterGPS app from playstore.
Before I did this , I was outside in my garden, and I have used the Gps Test app.
There were just 2 or 3 sattelites found, and everytime it didn't lock my position.
After the tutorial that I have given to you, in the same place, I have the reception like in the picture
Hope you liked it

Thanks for the advice, will try it tomorrow. I was having same issue and I changed the gps.config to match my NTP and also I went to the APN and under APN Type I added agps (like this: default, supl, apn). Now I'm having better reception.

Ah, well that could certainly be a lack of contact with the GPS antenna pins. If you can reassemble the G3 again properly with no mods, there is no need to bend the pins (with cardboard or anything else as mentioned by others). That would be addressing the symptom, instead of the cause. The specifications of the G3 allow the pins to easily make contact if everything is in it's place and tightened correctly. When reassembling, I also recommend re-applying blue Loc-Tite on the threads on all of the screws like the manufacturer did to help keep the screws tightened. I personally have modded two G3's with 1mm thermal pads on the SoC, and I still have had no issues with pin contact and have had an excellent GPS signal with a average 6 second fix. Let us know how it goes.
Unfortunately none of the above work for me @AlwaysLucky @arys64 . I tried all the apps and I also put a piece of cardboard under the pins. The GPS Status keeps saying "Waiting for Location".

Oh man, super bummer. It may not be a pin contact issue then. What ROMs have you tried so far? GPS Status "waiting for location" simply means it does not have a fix yet, but it should have a small readout of the signal you are getting from each satellite. (you can get signals from satellites without getting a fix). Post a screen pic of GPS Status for me, if you wouldn't mind.

Well, the number of satellites look average, but they simply aren't getting barely a signal if any at all. If you are sure you have ruled out the ROM as an issue, which it looks like you have, I'd have to say it's a hardware issue. Either your antenna is busted or the GPS receiver chip itself is failing. To me, it looks like the antenna. But if you have confirmed the pins are making contact okay, I'm simply... stumped. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, and my last suggestion would be to triple check those pins are not bent sideways and are still properly soldered to the board and making contact with the antenna. Good luck. :fingers-crossed:

I think those are the wrong pins. If I remember correctly they are used for Cellular diversity antenna.
The correct pins are shown in http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/d855-gps-fix-possibly-t3450046

Saw the fix on where you take the back of the phone off and adjust the GPS contacts, long story short the LCD screen broke on me. I see nothing but problems people have on this phone about the GPS and Samsung will not hold there end. Anyone else have the same issue with there GPS?
Sending phone out to get repaired tomorrow.

i was on cm13 for a few days and i had horrible gps on google maps. when i returned to stock, gps was fine again. if ur having gps problem even on stock it may be a hardware issue.

If you have time, file an Android bug report: h t t p s://source.android.com/source/report-bugs.html
I have the same problem with stock ROM. I have also had the problem on 3 other completely different Android phones from different manufacturers - also running either with or without the stock ROM - mostly on Lollipop. This is probably not a hardware issue as another member has suggested, but a bug. I seriously doubt that the 4 different phones I've experienced this with all have hardware faults. If you file on that website, I'll join you. You are not alone.

Sounds like you solved the problem with a new phone. If the problem ever arises with the new phone you may be interested in my post in http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/gps-close-to-unusable-t2948602/post67864418 (see post #339). I was able to fix my phone by partially disassembling it and removing corrosion on various contacts.
Hey all.
Switched from a Nexus 6P to the Honor 7X and only really have one main issue...
The gps doesn't lock at all. It can see ~20-25 satellites but refuses to use them. At this point I'm thinking MIUI is the cause, but please give some input.
Here's what I've done:
Factory reset
Changed power optimization/closing preferences
GOT A REPLACEMENT
Went outside on a parking deck above everything else (in 70mph winds!)
Reset A-GPS settings and updated through GPS fix apps
If anyone knows what's up, please tell me. Its pretty terrible driving and having the gps arrow spin in circles or be a few miles away from me.
I thought mine was broken, it didn't even register any satellits. Thankfully a power off/on cycle fixed it. You've done far more, even getting a replacement, so I'm at a loss to explain your issue, becuase it is working fine here for me now on a BND-L24. I used an app in the play store "GPS Status" by MobyWIA to test.
I have gotten the new one to work, now the app lights up like a Christmas tree with all the satellite connections.
Hopefully it stays, the other one worked initially. If anyone has the same problem and did all I did, get a replacement.

Sorry for the late reply. I simply reset the A-GPS data with an app while outside
Gps is malfunctioning in my honor 7x.
Dear all,
After factory data reset gps is not working properly in my honor 7x, kindly advise on this to get it rectified..
Alright I've just been through this issue as well. After a factory reset you need to open google maps and then you'll be prompted to enable the GPS sensor. With mine even after a reset the GPS was very inaccurate and sometimes would not lock on at all. I wound up sending mine in for a warranty repair and got it back yesterday. So far it seems much better.
Edit: The images below are GPS status before I sent it in, the returned repair form and GPS status after I got it back. For some reason the after GPS image didn't load right on my first attempt so I'm trying again.
Hello there,
My Flo-Device keeps locking me out, resulting in a short black screen and throwing me back to the lockscreen. Based on the behaviour it seems that this is related to the sensor that is use for magnetic cases.
Unfortunately, I never used such a case, most threads I found are talking about cheap cases with a poor placing of the magnet itself - which does not help me out here.
Any hints on overriding that sensor by software or hardware? Any way of fixing the sensor or even a hint on the location on the Motherboard? I have read about an exposed module disabling it, but to configure the module it may be neccesary to be able to use the tablet in the first place. Currently it is still completely stock.
I appreciate your help or any reference to a solution that I may have overseen in my search. Thanks!

Hall effect sensor's location is on the first attachment. I can assure you that there is no need to fix it directly because this and many other sensor problems are caused by the LCM connector. Disconnect the battery and just re-seat the LCM connector but be careful, watch this first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9PwK9eGrCY

Please also re-seat the other end of LCM cable.
Check if a magnet placed over the sensor's position (top or bottom) has any impact.
Perhaps ROM builders know if something can be changed in /system/build.prop
Remove lock password - start ADB and do:
rm /data/system/locksettings.db
rm /data/system/*.key
Finally, we'll consider a hardware mod.
:good:
I already reseated both end of the ribbon cable to be sure - and again after the first unsuccessful test run. I never used a magnetic case on the device and there ar no other magnets near - my other Nexus 7 is fine though
What exactly does the locksettings.db do? I deleted It and rebooted, but no change in behaviour.
btw, as I am unable to properly use the touchscreen, I tried to enable usb debugging via an usb-otg cable and an attached mouse - which worked fine so far. It seems that there might be some interference or mechanical problem. Maybe the first thought with the hall sensor was wrong track I repaired a lot of devices over time, but (un)fortunately none of them showed that behaviour before, so I'm somewhat out of ideas in this case.

It removes the lock password and makes it go into LOCKSCREEN-NONE mode, but you have to also remove all files with the ".key" extension from the folder.
Since you repair such devices, then measure voltage on the output pin of the sensor, and measure it again with a magnet over it.
Good idea. Without the magnet I get 2.98 V and with the magnet 0.001 V between GND and out. So I guess the sensor itself may not be the problem? As I recognized that it might be a mechanical problem, I got a friend to use the touchscreen and measured output at the sensor again, it seems to work as intended.
As the lockscreen does not have any further protection set up after a factory reset, I guess this could be the reason that I did not find any *.key files in that directory? So currently it is just 'swipe to unlock'.
Problem with the lockseetings file is: The device is all stock, locked and has no root - and to get a bit more weird, is not recognized when in recovery. My other Nexus 7 with twrp already on it is recognized instantly. I may have to fix that first, as in a weak moment I may have overseen the "access denied" while trying to delete that file and already typing the nex command. My bad - it was already late.
Honestly, I wonder what the problem really is and really appreaciate your help so far.

The sensor is OK indeed.
As you did factory reset, there is no issue of user data loss anymore, so just unlock it and do factory flash https://developers.google.com/android/images
This should fix the recovery recognition problem too.
Yeah, so I unlocked it, reflashed it with the stock rom, installed twrp and su...and finally got to delete the mentioned files. But still - the issue continues to exist. Also, I see no difference after deleting the files. Does something else prevent that no locksreen-mode?
Do you have any more ideas? I could wildly start changing parts, but unfortunately the device isnt worth that much anymore :-/ As mentioned, using the device with the Mouse hooked up via otg, the screen behaves normal.

No worries, we'll fix it, but it seems that my opening statement "this and many other sensor problems are caused by the LCM connector" still holds true. On the schematic, R150 and R151 are presumably located next to the sensor on the daughterboard, so if LCM cable connection to main mobo is open, the CPU will constantly sense 0V level, right? And as you measured earlier, 0V means that magnetic flux is detected. Now, about the ribbon cable... you did re-seat it, but this thing is awful and tends to fail repeatedly because of contact oxidation and weak connector lock pressure. Two solutions:
spray with https://www.amazon.com/CRC-5103-Quick-Electronic-Cleaner/dp/B000BXOGNI/
apply a thick tape/spacer over the lock so N7's back cover will add extra pressure on it
Finally, here is a brute-force workaround fix, go: settings - system profiles - default - lock screen - disable :highfive:
I'll test the points you mentioned.
I have to get a can of cleaning spray in the workshop, as I only have other fluids here which leave a oily coating. Or Brake Cleaner Fluid Thanks so far, I'll keep you updated.
Disabling the Lockscreen still gives me blackouts but okay, i dont have to swipe anymore - that will do for the moment. I haven't had similar problems in a while, so I tend to forget some points as repairing phones from time to time is only some sort of occupational therapy for me besides my other work ^^

I was finally able to continue here. I cleaned the connection and applied some tape to thicken up the spacers. Still, I am not able to resolve the problem. I also tried to manually apple more pressure on the back, still not getting better unfortunately.

I know you're not happy about it but this is the best N7 hardware issue to resolve we've had so far this year
I opened up my N7 to check the sensor's connection to main PCB - it goes to LCM pin #41 - note the attached pictures. Disconnect the battery and use an ohmmeter to measure the two points - I get around 8 oHm. If you measure open circuit, then look for broken or corroded track somewhere along the way. If you measure proper connection, then the problem is on the motherboard and there is nothing else we can do - case closed unfortunately.
/EDIT
Here is a software workaround:
install ElementalX kernel
during installation select the "Disable magnetic cover on/off" option
:victory:
