SOLVED Problems with time change. - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Is anybody else having problems with the time change staying correct?
Both mine and my wife's phones won't keep the correct time.
I have called Verizon and the only thing they say is to set the date/time to manual.
I don't see why they won't fix their crap.
I have tried the *228 number and done both options and the time still won't hold.
Any ideas?
BTW: my wife's phone is the Samsung Fascinate (stock not rooted).
EDIT: it seems as though Verizon fixed it sometime within the past few hours.

It was just daylight savings time, could that be what your problem is?

Yes. Neither one of our phones will keep the correct time zone.
And it started when the time was supposed to change over.
In the Settings > Date & time menu is the option to use the networks' time. And for some reason it will change the time zone from central time to central mountain time.

Manual Time

Is there any way to manually set the time? I have heard of an issue where Sprint has the wrong time, so I was wondering if setting it yourself was an option.

My phone will sometimes randomly jump through different time zones so I had to go into the time and date settings to manually set it to stay in the Eastern time zone.

[Q] Clock/Time problem

Hi, was wondering if this has happend to anyone else, and/or is there a fix for it.
I have noticed that for the past month or so my time has been incorrect even when I set it to be correct. It keeps the time for about 3-4 hours then it starts loosing it as much as 15mins!
It seems to happen on every ROM that I use, so I cant see it being a ROM issue.
ITs really annoying tho!
Anyone else had this problem?
Thank, stoff
Does this not have anything to do with the auto time function and the time on the network of your provider?
I know that here in the Netherlands customers of Vodafone overslept themselves due to a time zone error in the network. The auto adjustment of time set their phones an hour early so that they woke up an hour late
Edit: So try to uncheck the auto adjustment and check with your provider if their time setting is correct.
I thought it could've been that so I left it unchecked but no difference! I even changed sim card to o2 instead of virgin but it still happens! Weird.

Have you made any experiments with overclocking? Maybe something messed up the clock hardware.
But the carrier should update the clock from time to time, I think...
Naa I don't over clock my phone. I'm just learning to live with it being 15mins slow or so!

I don't have a cause for you but I do have a workaround that I use on my Asus Transformer that won't keep time properly, an app called ClockSync (available from the Market).
Thanks, I'll give it a try

Date and time screwed up

Ever since DST ended, my time on my phone is all over the place. What is sprint doing. Have others had this issue.

Mine changes every now and then too. I'm in Chicagoland, but only happens to me downtown

Go figure. I'm chicagoland as well..

Mine jumped a timezone on DST morning and set back two hours. It took about 2 hours before sprint finally got the time and time zone right.
Both my sprint phones have been doing this, and if I uncheck the "use network time" option it just reverts later. Pissing me off! Also in Chicago.

Also in Chicagoland here, mine jumped back the hour for DST and switched to Mountain time zone. I manually changes the zone back to Central that day, but have since selected the network time option and things have been fine.

same here when i'm in chicago. quite annoying, the issue with manual time setting is that when you reboot the phone, it messes the time up by a lot and then whatsapp displays an error message about time being off.
also, 3g data speed is abysmal and 4g data speed is what's passes for 3g speed on other networks. and random reboots on stock FI27 with 4ish hour battery life. looks like it's about time to check out a 4.1 rom.
I live in Chicago and am also having the same issue. When DST ended my phone dropped an hour then around 1400hrs it jumped ahead to the Eastern time zone. It holds for a while by changing back to Central time zone but always reverts back. I will be giving Sprint a call and let you know what they say.
I live by midway airport and the same thing happens to me. I just chose to set the date and time manually and it doesnt change anymore.

OGP Keeps automatically enabling location settings

I have no idea what the deal is with this phone right now and its destroying my battery life. I have done everything I know to do with no avail. My phone is CONSTANTLY searching for GPS satellites. If I disable my location settings, they automatically turn back on and resume searching for satellites. Has anyone had this happen? I've done everything but a factory reset.
let me guess, you cant disable data connection too?

Damn.... noticed earlier today it was doing that and looked for anything that could have turned it on. Never thought about the phone app. I ended up restarting my phone. Just dialed a number as a test and sure enough... the gps icon popped up. At least this time it quit on its own...
But why would the gps turn on when I make a phone call?
I seem to remember an updated privacy notification coming in the mail from AT&T a week or so ago. In it i believe there was mention of sharing "anonymous call location data." I think maybe I'll dig up that piece of mail and follow the instructions to "opt out."
Think I'm gonna test this by making a call from one of my kid's lines.

Good to know i'm not the only one. Its a shame because it wasn't doing it last week and now since I work in a metal building with already poor reception, its just shredding my battery life.
I feel sure that I have all apps that request location turned off. This is unrelated to my dialer app, as I only make one or two phone calls in a day.
Root and factory data reset seems to have resolved this for now. Still trying to figure out a cause.

Mine does it when I make or receive a call. If it can't get a gps lock then it keeps re-trying.
I think at&t pushed something to the phone that started it doing this and I need it to stop.

Just posted another thread about this and didn't even see this one.. I have the same problem that started arising around 4:30pm yesterday (EDT) and it's been really p*ssing me off!! As of today, it's not consistently turning on as it was yesterday but it for sure it turning on every time there is a phone call or a text message.
Was there any sort of update anyone is aware of? Maybe a system app was updated and caused this problem like this shows

So I realized that I recently turned OFF the wifi & mobile networks option inside of the Location settings a few days ago. I turned that back on and it does NOT do it any longer.
I also got on a chat with at&t tech support. He states they didnt have any other reports of this issue and nothing released recently should do this. He also mentioned that E911 uses the gps for location when you call 911. (I knew this.)
In any event, I asked him to open a case with engineering because I don't want it to kill my battery if I make or take a call while in a bldg.
Anyone seeing this should contact customer support to file a "complaint" so it is logged and gets attention.
Anyone seen this on another phone that may be in use in their house?

Thanks for the tip.
This just hit me mid week too, I'm trying the above solution.
One piece exists!
Carrieriq people! I don't know much about these phones, but have been learning slowly. I have the same issue, however I discovered carrieriq wake lock last week, and it makes me want to change to Verizon. Now I'm not sure, but I have that wake lock while the GPS is tweaking out. So I'm guessing that's what it is. I had to register just to post this, and I wish there was a way to get rid of it. I live in a Grey area, and prefer not to have all my calls and texts stored in a server for 60 days or whatever they claim to store the Information.
Same issue started 2 days back. Hope to find any resolution

Damn carrierIQ... you are absolutely right. Installed one of those checker apps and its on there. (One of the downsides to not having a custom ROM.) But to have it really fire up like this, they must have flipped the switch on gathering "anonymous call location data" as was mentioned in a recent update to the privacy policy.
Installed Logging TestApp from an xda member ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17612559&postcount=110) and then the $1 key from the app store. Went thru the removal process and it no longer kicks on when I make a call.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this. Makes me feel better about the situation. Carrieriq has apparently been around for quote some time, however I hadn't heard of it because I was on am extended vacation. When I found out about it last week or whenever it was I did a lot of research on it. But a couple days ago when my GPS kept turning on out of nowhere while I had it off I got paranoid, and was scared they had me under investigation or something. If anyone else tries reggae Smith suggestion and is able to get rid of carrieriq. On this phone please post and let us know. I'm sure most of us out there don't want AT&T saving our texts and call history. Your browser history, and all that. Its a key logger that saves EVERYTHING that you do on your phone. At least that's my grasp on it. I'm wondering if getting rid of it the way reggie did even really delete it though. Is it possible to even get rid of it without flashing a custom room? Just because we may be able to get some peace of mind by not seeing the wake lock, is it really gone? I have only had Android for about 3 months, and managed to work from a atrix 2, to having 2 s3, one with severe wake lock issues. Drain my whole zero lemon battery overnight, to this ogp, which I dig. So this phone works great and one day carrier iq for 13 hours one day, so my friend Google gave me some insight, and bam, here we are. I have so many questions, but the capcha or whatever from my phone is irritating, so I will refrain from asking so many questions in different threads, that people will think I'm spamming. In the words of the great William currington "God is great, beer is good, and *****es are crazy!"
Anybody found any solution for this? There were some Google app updates hangout search may be forcing

Well i feel better now. I'm not the only one ... i just started noticing this 2 or 3 days ago and its killing my battery. system services are using 30 to 40% of my battery in a day and it barely lasts whereas before it was excellent.
No way to turn this off yet?

I can confirm that this 1 dollar app has fixed the problem on my phone as well. E980.
Before trying that i tried to manually remove it, i was able to find two library files @ "/system/lib/" 1 - libiq_client.so && 2 - libiq_service.so
However I was unable to find the associated binary. I found a service lost the name. I installed cwm recovery, and then attempted to remove the library's at the risk of bricking, to invoke a app crash log and figure out where this :crying: binary was located. I added .bak to the end of the library names, and rebooted. I was greeted with a nice message "The android system has stopped working.", when I got to the homescreen, and then again when I attempted to make a call. But the phone worked fine and gps did not kick attempt to search. So I went and integrated the kernel logs and it showed android.iqd as the module that crashed, and an associated service. I couldn't find a full path to the binary and I don't know much about the android kernel yet, I'm only on my 2nd day being rooted on my 1st android device. If anyone could help me investigate this and figure out where the binary is located, and upload it I would be a very happy camper.
TLDR - After using Logging Test app and running remove IQ, i can rename or remove the library files with no issues! But I would still like to know more about the files/services associated.
Double post. Today my phone CIQ re-enabled itself, and started throwing the app crash message again "Android System Has Stopped Working.", because I have my CIQ library files re-named. Also note that it seems that I cannot RECEIVE text messages with these CIQ library files re-named. So DO NOT rename them.
Here is a link to the system_app_crash generated by renaming the library files.

Daylight savings

So this morning my phone advanced the time an hour.
Im on Verizon and have auto timezone checked..
The problem is I live in Phx. We dont do daylight savings. How can their network still be getting this wrong after so many years?
I know I can go manual time but then it doesnt change when I travel next week.
Any ideas?

Update.. after a prolinged usless chat with vzw, a restart got the time right. Why is this needed? My wife has same device and hers was fine.
I hopeni dont need to restart every time i cange cities when traveling next week
I used to live in AZ and had this happen to me once too. I live in Hawai'i now, and a couple times my phone's time went a little wonky. We don't change time here either.

This happened to me yesterday morning as well. Seems it happens every single time on every single phone I've ever had while on T-Mobile. Luckily I don't rely on phone alarms, like ever, and just go with my good old fashioned alarm clock. I've had the time screw up for me enough times, lol. Phone corrected itself by about 5 in the evening

We're you also logged onto your (or someone else's) WiFi?
The phone can/will pickup the time from the WiFi and if it's not setup for no DST that could have been the cause.... Or not.
