What is the little "M" near the battery - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So the title kinda says it all, I noticed the M by the battery the other day and was wondering what exactly it was. I searched around a bit but couldnt find anything. Anyone know what it is

uh.... do you mean on the physical battery? Just a stamp they must do at the manufacturer for identification when they're putting it together.

Figured it out. Pretty sure he means the "M" underneath the battery when you take the door off. Vague OP tho.

Read my first response. Its surely just something required for manufacturing to keep parts in line.

Since you are in Canada (as am I), the "M" denotes that the GNEX you are using is the Canadian Version.
International Version = I9250
Canadian Version = I9250M
There is no difference in the devices themselves except this marking / Model Number distinction.

I believe the label underneath the battery on your Canadian unit should also have "GT-I9250M" in the model field also.

[Q] T999 Motherboard rePLACEMENT

My motherboard on my SGH-T999 (T-Mobile) needs replaced and I would like to replace it with something better. Someone suggested the SGH-I747 since that is the AT&T model (I'm currently with Net10/AT&T) and it would give me LTE, something I did not have before. Does that sound like the best move?
Robert
prob just a miss-print , but att is sghi747. (not 6). just in case youre looking, look for i747.
err on the side of kindness
It does sounds good, just make sure that the board will fit.. Watch disassembly videos of both devices and compare motherboards and see if there are differences.. I think it should be a good fit but better make sure.. And as mrrocketdog posted, it is the i747

I'm sure it will. Funny thing is that in this phone I have at least 3 parts that stamped with SGH-I747. I guess the models are so similar they can easily swap parts.

You're not the first.. There have been many like this recently even with i9300 stamps, which are not similar to our devices

Musical Motherboards ???

Can I pull the motherboard out of a I747 that has a bad digitizer & glass and transplant it into an L710 that has a bad board in it but the rest of the S3 is in great shape?
I assume the motherboards are the only difference between the phones ?

We cannot help you here. This is for the i9300 international version not the at&t one.
You need to go to the correct thread.

No problems. Ill report your post and get the mods to move it for you.
From the Moderator
The Short answer is TMobile and ATT boards should be identical the modem speed is usually going to be the issue that would be the same with sprint boards... if you look carefully on the board look at the part number then do a search on those numbers, that will tell you if they match or are compatible. The problem with mixing boards is you run the risk of losing higher speed connectivity... usually worst case is you only get 2g
Also since this is an older phone this is the correct place these phone forums were merged

Sorry, but the boards and frames are incompatible. I couldn't tell you which component on the board is the one that causes the difference, but I know there's one that's a different shape and won't fit in the other model's frame.

Fake Checker

Hi All
New to the G3 and not been on these forums in a while but I have just bought myself a G3 and it should be coming this week...Only issue is the site I bought it from doesn't have the best reviews and I'm worried the phone COULD be a fake.
Is there any way to be 100% certain if it's fake or not when it comes?
Thanks
We already discussed about that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60063767
After investigating a little bit, I was surprised with the amount of details that were copied to clone... It is a little bit scary :/

You dont even need to do all that. Whats the build number in System Settings
It should start with KVT9VL or LRX21R
If it starts with something like JDQ39B its fake

Yeah I came across this thread after creating mine and feel slightly more worried now :-/. I actually made a list of things to check when it comes based on that thread:
Use CPUz to check RAM and Processor etc.
Check for texture on volume buttons
Check the bezel to see if it's thicker than it should be
Check IMEI using IMEI checking site
Check serial numbers with LG
Try re-installing software to see if it kicks up a fuss

Good stuff! So can this or is this not usually faked them on clones?
Thanks

New batch of note 7

Hi guys,
I'm planning to get the note 7. Just wondering if anyone can post an image of a brand new unit if you got one. Does it really have the letter S mark? Or the black mark? Thanks!
It has a bomb with an X over it

Mine was the canadian version. Has the black square.
Wow that's it? The black square? OK it is good to know, but those out there with malicious intent, selling defective units on the 'Black Market' can easily draw up a replica symbol on the label to pass off as new 'Safe' units.
You can check the imei on samsungs website

Go to the Samsung page for the recall and there is an imei checker there

Unfortunately I haven't opened it or made any other observations. I sold the new one on Craigslist unopened. I wanted an exynos version so will wait to get my hands on one of those after after the dust settles from the recall.
What I did notice was that the label with the black square was on top of the original label.
So my assumption is that these units were old stock, but Samsung knew which units had the unaffected batteries and therefore just relabeled them with a new identifier(black square) to know good from bad.

Did you have to send back your affected device? What happens if you don't?

Only this letter was included in the shipping box with the new phone box.
It just tells me to drop off old unit at a Samsung store. On back side of letter it just names all the locations that i can drop it off.
No mention of what happens if i don't or no mention of any deadlines to drop it off by. I originally bought my unit from Samsung.ca.
They probably have my credit card on file and would just Bill me if they didn't receive my recalled unit

Where to buy real LG G4 (H815) motherboards?

All the motherboards on Aliexpress are fake - run @steadfasterX's SALT and it shows they've all been modified in some way, with crazy ARBs of 20 and even 40!
Where (or which seller) would you guys recommend getting legit motherboards, and not frankenboards?
The phone was released in 2015, I don't think LG still makes motherboards for this phone.

I haven't checked recently but there is/ was an Israel- based seller on ebay selling H815 boards. I bought two a couple years back, about $50 apiece, the default language is Hebrew but of course a different one can be selected during setup... Still amusing that the phone dialer shows Hebrew numbering. AFAIK they are real, never had any problems.

Both of mine say ARB 0 in SALT
Hi guys, I seem to have a franken h815 too. I wanted to find out the actual model by checking the motherboard.
All that I see is a little qr code with one number underneath: RS1017 (or BS1017) and one number on the side: 066C15. I could not find out which model corresponds to that, could you help me?
Edit: Found it out already, the model is written on the backside of the motherboard

I've noticed all the sellers like to cover that part of the motherboard with stickers. Clearly deliberate.
