Musical Motherboards ??? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Can I pull the motherboard out of a I747 that has a bad digitizer & glass and transplant it into an L710 that has a bad board in it but the rest of the S3 is in great shape?
I assume the motherboards are the only difference between the phones ?

We cannot help you here. This is for the i9300 international version not the at&t one.
You need to go to the correct thread.

No problems. Ill report your post and get the mods to move it for you.

From the Moderator
The Short answer is TMobile and ATT boards should be identical the modem speed is usually going to be the issue that would be the same with sprint boards... if you look carefully on the board look at the part number then do a search on those numbers, that will tell you if they match or are compatible. The problem with mixing boards is you run the risk of losing higher speed connectivity... usually worst case is you only get 2g
Also since this is an older phone this is the correct place these phone forums were merged

Sorry, but the boards and frames are incompatible. I couldn't tell you which component on the board is the one that causes the difference, but I know there's one that's a different shape and won't fit in the other model's frame.

I9300 Housing DOES NOT fit I747 (confirmed inside)

Hey so I just got a I747 and I am loving it! The problem is it came in blue/it didn't come with a back door battery cover (I only paid $290 for it too!). Well I don't really like the pebble blue scheme, and prefer the white GS3. So I have been looking for the white housing and I have found it for the i9300, but will it fit the i747? One reason I am asking this is because AT&T uses the micro sim card on the i747, but does the i9300 also use a micro sim slot or a regular sim slot?

If you want we can still trade, but you would have to wait until the battery cover I order comes in, and the battery cover isn't the original one either :/

Can anyone confirm this please? I really want a white housing :/

I'm also interested in this. I bought the wife the white I9300 a few months back, I have a Red I747 in route and if I can I'd like to switch the housings for her so she can keep her international model and send the AT&T on back to my mom to use since we don't have 4G where we live. :good:

I can confirm that Yes the i9300 uses the micro SIM.
I'd yield to the more experienced folks on here about the casing being different. I'm sure if you dig around on Google you can find someone who will sell stickers to change the appearance or you can always put a case on it. Besides, unless you're really good, that's the type of hardware surgery that can become an epic fail!
Well here is a close-up of my i9300, they look the same to me.

Shouldn't be all that hard, just be careful because the plastic frame beneath the back cover holds the antennas, so a poorly fitted install or accidental jostling of the wrong parts on the motherboard can ruin the reception of the phone.

How to check whether phone is used or new

I am on the lookout for a Galaxy Nexus in Mumbai, India. I want to make sure that I get my money's worth when buying the phone i.e I don't want to get ripped off by the seller.
Can you please tell me how I can know if a phone is new or used previously.
I already read but people in the comments have reported that they don't always work:

I know. That's why I posted this thread - to see if someone else would have a answer.
There's very little you can do to check if it's new or not other than call Samsung and see if someone has registered the unit with them for some reason or another. Although the seals on the box being broken would be a massive give away

When i got my nexus in the mail my buddy took it out of the box and put his phone in to play a joke on me and didn't even break the seal. I asked him how he did it and he said he didn't even realize he had done that. So no the seal is no indicator at all lol.

I find it hard to believe you can undo the seal without damaging it, I had to proper rip mine to get into the box. Perhaps the EU ones are more secure!!
Either way, unless you're getting it from an official dealer it's hard to say whether it's 100% new or not

[Q] 10% Lower touch screen not responding

Hi All,
Have been having issues with my sisters HOX, the bottom 10% of the screen won't respond and Im stuck as to what it could be apart from a hardware fault.

Have tried hard reset, restored nans, Flashed different kernels inc Alex V, Re-calibrated touch screen, heating it up. Nothing seems to be working. Just wanted to make sure it's hardware before I pull it apart!
Thanks in advance!

Yea separating them isn't easy nor getting them back together perfectly either, did it on my old sensation and it's still going strong though so may give it a go as a lot cheaper for the digitlizer only.
As it's my sisters phone it's up to her where I order it from depending on how much she want's to pay , cheap and cheerful then new LCD complete kit on ali express is $35. For a genuine HTC replacement it's around $90.

[Q] T999 Motherboard rePLACEMENT

My motherboard on my SGH-T999 (T-Mobile) needs replaced and I would like to replace it with something better. Someone suggested the SGH-I747 since that is the AT&T model (I'm currently with Net10/AT&T) and it would give me LTE, something I did not have before. Does that sound like the best move?
Robert
prob just a miss-print , but att is sghi747. (not 6). just in case youre looking, look for i747.
err on the side of kindness
It does sounds good, just make sure that the board will fit.. Watch disassembly videos of both devices and compare motherboards and see if there are differences.. I think it should be a good fit but better make sure.. And as mrrocketdog posted, it is the i747

I'm sure it will. Funny thing is that in this phone I have at least 3 parts that stamped with SGH-I747. I guess the models are so similar they can easily swap parts.
