Where to buy real LG G4 (H815) motherboards? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All the motherboards on Aliexpress are fake - run @steadfasterX's SALT and it shows they've all been modified in some way, with crazy ARBs of 20 and even 40!
Where (or which seller) would you guys recommend getting legit motherboards, and not frankenboards?

The phone was released in 2015, I don't think LG still makes motherboards for this phone.

I haven't checked recently but there is/ was an Israel- based seller on ebay selling H815 boards. I bought two a couple years back, about $50 apiece, the default language is Hebrew but of course a different one can be selected during setup... Still amusing that the phone dialer shows Hebrew numbering. AFAIK they are real, never had any problems.

Both of mine say ARB 0 in SALT

Hi guys, I seem to have a franken h815 too. I wanted to find out the actual model by checking the motherboard.
All that I see is a little qr code with one number underneath: RS1017 (or BS1017) and one number on the side: 066C15. I could not find out which model corresponds to that, could you help me?
Edit: Found it out already, the model is written on the backside of the motherboard

I've noticed all the sellers like to cover that part of the motherboard with stickers. Clearly deliberate.

New batch of note 7

Hi guys,
I'm planning to get the note 7. Just wondering if anyone can post an image of a brand new unit if you got one. Does it really have the letter S mark? Or the black mark? Thanks!
It has a bomb with an X over it

Mine was the canadian version. Has the black square.
Wow that's it? The black square? OK it is good to know, but those out there with malicious intent, selling defective units on the 'Black Market' can easily draw up a replica symbol on the label to pass off as new 'Safe' units.
You can check the imei on samsungs website

Unfortunately I haven't opened it or made any other observations. I sold the new one on Craigslist unopened. I wanted an exynos version so will wait to get my hands on one of those after after the dust settles from the recall.
What I did notice was that the label with the black square was on top of the original label.
So my assumption is that these units were old stock, but Samsung knew which units had the unaffected batteries and therefore just relabeled them with a new identifier(black square) to know good from bad.

Only this letter was included in the shipping box with the new phone box.
It just tells me to drop off old unit at a Samsung store. On back side of letter it just names all the locations that i can drop it off.
No mention of what happens if i don't or no mention of any deadlines to drop it off by. I originally bought my unit from Samsung.ca.
They probably have my credit card on file and would just Bill me if they didn't receive my recalled unit

compatible battery?

Hi all,
Anybody know if it's possible to use any other phone battery inside swift(1), LG or Samsung or any other brand?
Or if it's possible to repackage this type of battery?
Very unlikely
You could also buy a new battery @wileyfox-store.

got my phone originally though the orange store SA, but as that's closed up, officially there is no support locally for this phone,
makes trying to find batteries locally a bit of a chore.
and why im asking if there is something else that might also work, like a generic, or compatible?
we do have a representative of STK (who brought out wileyfox) locally, but not sure if they might be able to help?
but first prize, would be a samsung or other battery that would fit perfectly.

Finding batteries anywhere in the world - even in their home UK market - is like searching for hens teeth; Wileyfox lost their way very shortly after their debut a couple of years ago (and long before their collapse and buy-out by STK). Just Google Kazam too.
WF have tried to kill-off the Swift first and foremost amongst their 1st gen range - they hate this phone especially for some reason. They promised a spare battery for general sale but an ongoing supply just never materialised. Indeed a couple of batches at most were brought to market but snapped up very quickly - and that was that. Since then WF maintain radio silence on this subject as is attested to on their Facebook page.
There are some available on eBay or aliexpress, frequently under the part numbers in the previous post. This is because the Swift is a rebadge of an Android One phone hailing from the far east.

G4 Motherboard Replacement. Need help picking the right one?

Classic G4 bootloop. I offered to fix this phone for a family member not knowing how much of a head ache I'd be in right now 12 hours after I started.
Anyways, I've tried pretty much everything. I'm just going to get a new motherboard and replace it. But I've never replaced a motherboard on a phone before. Is there anything specific I need to match up with the new board?
The G4 I'm working on is a H810 (AT&****) model. The firmware is Marshmallow 6.0. Any other info you need, just let me know.
Appreciate the help!

Looking to buy used/refurb XL. Does this one look legit?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SEALED-Goo...290836?hash=item442299f394:g:x2MAAOSwEjlbRvcv
The thing that stands out to me is the "90 day manufacturers warranty". Which is good, as most likely any defects should present by then. But, if NO warranty at all after 90 days, seems risky.
Does this seem like a good deal? (they've sold over 200 so far, though nobody has left feedback yet).
That seems shady that nobody at has left any feedback even though they've sold 200 units. If you can return the purchase if you arent happt with it, go ahead and try ir out. But you still never know. Most of the times, they ship merely the phone itself and no other gadgets that's supposed to come with it. So be aware of that. I bought a refurbished pixel 2 xl and that one was on Pie and the battery kind sucked aswell as the fingerprint scanner after a week or so. So i bought another one and this time it wqs on oreo 8.1 and so far. It runs smoothly without any issues.
Hence, buying refurbished is kind of like gambling. You never know what you will get!
90 days should just be warranty that they have stated. Though Google does two year warranty mostly. I would check the IMEI with Google and see what they say before you purchase. Because you bought it and they should be able to offer you a refurbished unit as a replacement if it has issues. They look brand new basically.

How would he check the IMEI before he even gets the unit? It's not like they'll just give him that info before purchasing.
The seller has a solid rating. I would not worry about it. Just a heads up, it is probably a Verizon version. Those are the only ones available outside of the Google store so you won't be able to unlock the boot loader if that is important to you. But there is no way to know for sure without the IMEI.

Flash the latest factory images before doing anything! It could have malware preinstalled. The description says "Bootloader unlocked", this could be a typo and the seller means bootloader unlockable, or perhaps carrier unlocked, but flashing the factory images will clear out any changes, and will also save you the trouble of going through each update on its own.

Supposed to be here Friday, so I was surprised to see it when I got home today.
It looks brand new, with factory stickers and packaging. Bootloader is locked.
As stated, no accessories included (except SIM tool and a cleaning cloth).
From what I understand of it, it does have the blue shift issue with the display. Not sure how I should feel about that... doesn't seem to bother me yet.

Does EVR-L29 only come in Blue?

Or is silver really available for EVR-L29?
Available in silver right here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-Mat...cdecb9854:m:mbmVlXzSrP9-WyZWmeS0z2w:rk:1:pf:0

Exactly my thoughts
It depends on the region it's sold in. I know in Malaysia it's sold in both blue and silver, while in Hong Kong it's in blue only.
Silver does exist, it's just more rare.

Rebranding a Chinese Mate 20 series phone isn't possible. They will probably add play store, but that's the extent of what they can do.

It's not. Trust me. My full time job is reverse-engineering Huawei devices.
Many of the Chinese resellers who rebrand phones are my customers.
If someone tells you it is, they're mistaken. They're either scamming you, or they don't realize the changes in oeminfo for the Kirin 980 generation of phones. The oeminfo is encrypted/signed for each individual device, and modifying the regional branding isn't possible. Having a fully rebranded device isn't possible. Nobody has developed a way to do it, and sadly, it's looking unlikely to be able to fully rebrand the phone.
I'm only telling you to help you not get scammed. I'll be very impressed if you prove me wrong.
Do you have such a device in-hand? A screenshot of the About Phone screen?

It's not an issue of being able to write to the memory of the phone. Anyone can do this with an unlocked bootloader. The issue is the regional branding of the phone, and the inability to change it from all/cn to something else due to device-specific signing/encryption.
It's fine if you don't believe me, but I think you will be disappointed with what happens if you trust they can do it.

It seems that you have been very, very badly misinformed about both Huawei's production process and the relevancy of region/branding. Still, I'm very interested to see what the reseller ends up doing, so please let us know.
I did a quick search for EVR-L29 Malaysia and did come up with a midnight blue or phantom silver for sale on Expansys.
Ye Malaysia and Singapore are the only known regions that i know of which have both color EVR-L29, I'm not sure about 3rd party sellers, if it's true or not but since i bought it from an official seller/store, i have the phone and it's legit EVR-L29 phantom silver but not sure about the others. You're also covered with the 2 years Huawei warranty + mpen and smart cover free (maybe a limited time offer).
Most EVR-L29 from resellers are coming from HK supply and HK only have Blue for now in global version, that's why you see most of the time Blue ones.
