I think that there is a quad core HTC one s coming out for the Tmobile line of phones. Anyone getting it, more undoubtedly there is an gs blaze being released add an addition to the galaxy s series of phones which is a hype looking at how we already have an original s and s2 all this does is make the galaxy s team further.

Do you really want to stay on the samsung boat? Android 5.0 is going to be launched this year, and youll have to wait 4+ months for an update again. When i jump shop, its to a phone with a running non-beta CM9. Its clear this phone has nothing in terms of CM and waiting till summer for ICS is simply pathetic on Samsungs part.

That's what I'm saying. This will probably be my last carrier subsidized phone period. Waiting on Samsung and then waiting on the carrier is a joke. This phone has been a big disappointment. I like the phone, but its like the red headed step child of the galaxy phones. This along with the skyrocket. I stopped waiting on ICS a while ago. Samsung is so hush mouth about updates. Makes you think they will do anything to get you to buy another phone. No thanks Sammy.
When we finally get ICS it will be dated and the next best thing will be out. By then the gsII will be yesterdays news. Google really needs to be more like Apple with updates. They are starting to leave a bad taste for me. This may sound like a rant but its true.

i wouldn't go HTC until they go back to making quality phones. They went downhill lately with crappy battery life and cheap lcd displays. just like how samsung had a slump until the gs2's got released
I'm looking at the Asus Padphone or the SGS3, depending on which one comes out with an AWS or Pentaband version.
The HTC one x is the one with the quad-core

Asus has been quite good on updates with their current devices. If they keep that up id consider asus products in the future.
But at this point, im so sick of the android fragmentation that its either gonna be the google phone, or an iphone. Windows phones are starting to look more and more tempting to, specially with Windows 8 coming and whatever integration they have planned.
Even the google phones might get screwed on the CDMA side, and my carrier is CDMA only.
But its become quite clear that they havent finished ICS for the intl GSII, and probably havent started ours even. The CM team has nothing either. Have heard rumors that Cyanogen himself uses a T989 but i really doubt it, cause wed have an alpha at least.

Been using wp7. For the last two 1/2 months and although the apps aren't there yet, its been a refreshing change from all this ICS mess. Once T-Mobile comes out with a 4.3 or higher screen size, I will probably make a full switch.
I miss some of my apps and games though. Then again my ps3 takes care of the gaming issue. Wp7 runs so much smoother. Its nice to take a break from android.

And I know I have not seen it yet but I can bet that the camera and speaker will be better and the rest will be the same .

Probably.. One of the reasons I got the GNex (aside from the gorgeous screen) was because it would be "first in line" for updates. So far 4.0.4 is out and still no official update is available and I'd be stuck on 4.0.1 if I hadn't rooted and updated to 4.0.2 manually. Google not commenting on the issue doesn't help either.
Probably.

I got a feeling that hardware in gs3 will be very tempting for us but don't forget no pure ics and no up to time updates comparing to nexus. As a former user of gs2 and now a nexus rider I must say that I will stick to nexus line even it has less power inside because software development is better for gnex and it is priority for me
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I'm pretty happy with my nexus, don't see any reason to unreasonably upgrade, also the galaxy s 3 hasn't been announced, how can you be sure its going to be that great (I know it probably will but still?).
Plus its just another device for people to cry about that its not getting the latest update quick enough -_-".

Agree with you there. And if touchwiz on GS3 is in any way like the leaked ICS for the GS2, I think I'll pass. Besides nexus hardware is more than enough for my smartphone needs, i.e., mostly internet, not much gaming.
Doubt i'll sell my nexus as I never sell old phones, but I will probably get a GS3 at some point, as it should blow Nexus off the planet.
As for software updates, GS2 gave more updates, at a much faster rate than Nexus, so GS3 should be much much better for updates.
Nexus has Android 4. but I doubt it will get 5, and the speed of the incremental android 4 updates is a joke.. 1 update since I got my phone.. GS2 had updates all the time! I'd rather get incremental updates within Android 4 timely with an SGS3 than waiting an eternity for any update on Nexus.
Nah sod the notion of speedy updates on nexus devices, they don't exist.
I'd take Touchwiz and a fast Galaxy phone over the slow and laggy Nexus any day. GS3 will hopefully have equal screen than nexus, which is the nexus's only real selling point.
It'll be nice to have a phone with a HD screen which you won't have to hear all the excuses that it is so slow because it has so many more pixels to push blah blah blah.
So magical?
I won't. I'm very happy with the GNex. I also have a hard to believing that the GS3 won't be very buggy at first.
I wont, cause I have a 2 years contract for my GNex, and my parents wont probably buy me it, just gonna use my Gnex till it fails
Nope. Will not. Will most likely only replace with the next generation of Nexus model. Once a nexus, always a nexus
Probably not. But if I do, it'll only happen if the international GS3 supports HSPA+ on both the AWS and PCS bands.
I'm never getting a carrier subsidized phone again, and my next phone will have to support both bands so I can switch between both networks as I see fit.

cuz i had enough with sgs2. i dont mind touchwiz cuz i can install cm9 or any aosp but samsung sucks when sharing their sources. htc does it better.
and i can see where sgs2 is heading when Jelly Bean is out. its gotta be like sgs1 for ics in this case. I'm sure Gnex will receive JB just like Nexus S receive ICS.
htc One X .... Perhaps
GS3 .... No way
but this is just me ... nothing wrong with GS3
Nope. Not a chance. Had gs2 before the gnex n while it was a great phone it, like the nexus, was not perfect. Doing anything for more than 15min made it really hot, it took 3hrs to charge, the home button was clunky, while i actually liked touch wiz the icons were cartoony and colour was massivley over saturated. Basically my feelings on it were; whilst there is no doubt it was a power house of a device it was too powerfull for itself hence the heat and massive battery drain and stupidly long charge time... try using navigation whilst charging.... toasty my point being the supposed specs for gs3 sound cool but find it hard to believe it wont result in the same problems.
The nexus may have a hint of lag at times.. that is unavoidable because of the way android is written... my stock gs2 did at times too.
While the nexus if also far from perfect im with matey above... nexus line all the way for me now. As for updates... ffs. Gs2 has had a couple of pointless updates that havent changed, improved anything. Yep waiting is annoying and i cirtainly want an update that stops the random reboots, id rather wait for this than have an update that fixes this but adds new bugs.
Enjoy what u have, unless you have endless cash to upgrade every 2-3 months youll never be happy.

Hardware wise if it walks my dog and makes my breakfast, then yes. Otherwise TW will be barfed onto it, I'll pass.
No, and it's all to do with Samsung. I'm done with them for quite a while.
With the GS3 I don't expect to see manufacturer promised accessories unless the phone is a huge hit. And design mistakes like not being able to completely power the phone while running in the car dock made it an accessory not worth having.
Prior experience with the GS showed that they were unwilling to do anything about a serious hardware defect.
All in all I'm tired of being pooped on regardless of how cool their new device appears to be.
They wore me out. I'll wait to see what the new Google/Motorola relationship produces.
No, most likely i'll stick with GNex as previously i've had very bad experience with SGS2 phones. Better i'll wait till next Nexus phone comes out. And lastly - my GNex still feels like new, i gotta use it a bit more
probably not, but will definitely purchase a gs3 to play with. Anyways, normally give my phones to family and this Nexus will probably go to my sister.
well you probably learned something by now.
coming from a, 1st droid>blade>sgs>sgn.. you should know by now that only the nexus line gets updates and more support from the community.. even the orig nexus successfully ran ics
I'm never ever gonna beg for updates from the manufacturer again

Both phones are giving me the itchy trigger finger, and the phone's release dates are only a month apart. So I pose a question to the current G-nexus owners. What's the reasoning on choosing a device that is less superior and both selling for the same price?
I'm a nerd, So I like the idea of NFC and google wallet. Also, I wanted a pure google device. I hate that HTC is always the last to get updates and the first to add bloatware. If I was to look at another device, it would be the S3
If it s dual core evo, I would say just get the nexus

I am in the same boat here. As I see it I have three options. Stick with my Evo 3D, get a Gnex, or get a Evo 4G LTE. Right now getting a Gnex is looking good .
Super Amoled screen is better in my opinion. It's much more beautiful.
The Gnex is going to receive Android updates a lot sooner than the EVO.
HTC (in my cases) appear to drain battery quicker than any other manufacturer.
Why get a phone that will have a locked boot loader and wait until they release the unlock or wait months for someone to crack it ....no thanks
Been there done that and have the shirt with a pos 3d on it

This is the same reason I went from a HTC 3d to the Gnex .... HTC is too good at locking down a bootloader. Some of the latest HTC phones need a jump wire to root them! That, to me, is crazy.
I loved my original Evo, but changing to the Nexus S, then to the Galaxy Nexus was the best thing I ever did. Nexus phones are a million times better, whether you leave them stock and unrooted, or you like rooting and roms. There's just so many advantages to Nexus phones.

I had no clue the One S had a super Amoled screen. That explains why the screen "WOWed" me.
Get the Nexus.
The new Evo will likely break easily, be laggy, and get updates 6 months later.
Also, developer support.

I hope to also get the Evo 4G LTE as well if all goes according to plan. I want both devices, but if I had to pick one it would be very hard for me. Yes, the GNex will get updates the soonest and there is a lot of support, but I still like Sense and developing for it. I know lots of my EVO 3D guys are getting the LTE and have asked me to make a ROM.
The new processor in the LTE might only be dual core, but it is a monster. I think it will be a good phone and it will be all about preference.

Coming from an evo3d to gnex i will tell you i will never buy another htc phone in my life. The smooth vanilla ics is amazing. No root problems (so easy to root), you dont have to worry about having a certain hboot to flash kernels and such, Plus the evo lte is kinda ugly imo.

It depends on what you want... The GNex will get official updates to Jelly Bean and, more likely than not, Key Lime Pie. The Evo, on the other hand, will be lucky to get Jelly Bean at all, and KLP is almost out of the question. Also, the GNex, like all Nexus devices, has first-rate dev support. If software is important to you, then there really is no other option-- the Nexus is sovereign!

Really? Been a long 7 days for ya, huh? Not enough that we got our Odin restore, a new leaked build with new radios, EOS, CM9 Kang, JakROM, TWRP, and being able to flash any custom kernel on the Gnex forum? All within 5 days of the official release. I think we're off to a great start.

My guess on when we get it? 8/15. That's when Samsung has their big event scheduled for... the one where, the rumors suggest, is the Note 10.1's coming-out party.
If I was Samsung, I think I could do worse than announcing Jellybean is now available for their flagship device (nominally of course- still would be a few days for the carrier rollout to occur).
In fact, if I was Samsung, I'd have my speaker up on stage, and right at the end I'd pull an "Oh, and one last thing...", you know, just to mess with Apple

FYI, my last three phones have been Samsungs, so I recognize that when it comes to updates and Samsung, optimism == insanity Still, I'm holding out hope that it'll be a LITTLE different this time around, at least as far as Jellybean goes.
I can confirm thst Sprint/Samsung have not made a Sprint jellybean build yet
It'll be very exciting when the update happens! Hopefully it'll occur some time before or right after the new iPhone gets released, so that I can still brag to my Apple friends how cool my phone is.
I worry that Samsung will strip out Google Now, replacing it entirely with S Voice. But I hope Samsung will come to their senses, or at least allow both side by side.

Yeah Samsung should have both S-Voice and Google Now. That would be really cool.
I think that Sprint will delay this update. Look at the Samsung Nexus S 4G. Google released Jellybean for the global Nexus S and every other version of the Nexus S. Sprint has delayed the Jellybean update for the Nexus S 4G.

Co-sign. I was burned a bit much with my OG Epic.
I think this is worth the wait
Hi everybody,
I heard some rumors about the Nexus listed as EOL in various big electronic shops in Germany.
In addition to that, lots of european webshops stopped selling the Nexus after a nasty rise in selling price for the last weeks.
Can anyone comment on that with reliable informations?
the internet told me the phone was at EOL 1 year ago!
My carrier in Canada dropped the Nexus 3 months after first putting it on sale. Even Samsung has admitted in one of the patent trials with Apple that Nexus sales have been "insignificant". The Nexus has been dead as a consumer product for at least 6 months. However, that doesn't mean it is a bad phone. It just means that all the sheeple swayed by CPU cores and megapixels quickly move on to the newest and "best" thing.
EOL means that a certain carrier or OEM will stop giving updates. Since the updates come directly from Google, only Google can determine the EOL, not some shop in Germany or a Canadian carrier. Keep in mind, the Nexus S has received its jellybean update, so I don't think EOL will come anytime soon for the Gnex.
All major stores in the UK have stopped selling it and haven't had it for about 7 months.
I suspect it'll get at least the next update (4.2? 5.0?) If google gets their act together, possibly even more - it's not like the hardware is too limited.
And, of course, xda end of life would be at least a year after that, if not more.
^ Yep. It will be a looong time before the software is too much for the hardware..if ever.

all you gotta do is look at the Nexus S. Still kicking, and strongly. And the Galaxy Nexus is a stronger device hardware-wise.
no EOL in sight!
Yes OP it has been EOL-ed in Malaysia. However, like everyone mentioned, nothing to worry about flash yakju or a custom rom and you will never worry about EOL. Unless if you want to buy another galaxy nexus. Then the best time to buy is now before they go out of sale if they haven't already. Or wait for the next nexus.

Out of Stock has nothing to do with End of Life.
Uh... EOL means the device is no longer manufactured, which will usually follow with less to no software support. The Galaxy Nexus won't be EOL anywhere for quite, quite some time.

educate yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End-of-life_(product)
granted, the definition is not carved in stone, but as for the Galaxy Nexus I guess we're nearing EOS after the price drops and massive sales in the states and elsewhere. nothing to worry about, Apple does the same with "discontinued" hardware still piling up in their warehouses such as the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S as soon as a successor device is on the horizon. and with the GNex it seems we're in for quite a selection of successor devices before year's end so it's just natural that Google and Samsung stopped production probably some months ago and cleared their warehouses over the last 2 months.
remember, in August 2012 the Nexus S (introduced in December 2010) got upgraded to 4.1.1 JB. I'd guess the GNex will get current firmware versions from Google well into 2014. Keep calm and carry on, guys. It's a Nexus after all ^^

This post seems awfully random...
I guess just as much as mine...
Even if the Nexus reaches EOL, it was a pretty decent phone and will have community support for a good while. My ONLY complaint about my Nexus is the USB storage transfer fiasco. I understand technically what its doing, and I understand why they did what they did. That don't make me any happier though. I've found newer ways to transfer files from my pc or other devices to my Nexus, I just wish the ease of USB Mass Storage was there...

No such thing as eol for a Nexus.

Nexus One is the closest thing to it.
But stores not selling it is not the same as EOL.

Just got a Galaxy Nexus. Ah, official Jelly Bean goodness.
Hope they release a stable CM10 soon for the Nitro so that you guys won't have to endure the bugs in the nightlies any longer.

It makes sense.. I mean. It's general discussion and it is about the Nitro HD. Plus, is responding really helping?
Yeah, I decided to move on too...
Now, I'm waiting for Galaxy Note 2. I found that 4.5" screen is too small (but tablet is too big) for me.
Guys, I need your help. What is the actual price for used device in ideal condition (without scratches) I can ask - with two cases and new screen protector?

You'd probably be lucky to get $300 because people are retards and think phones like the iPhone are awesome.
If any of you are offloading for cheap I may be interested. Its either snag a nitro for the wife or start tinkering with her infuse.

not sure why you felt the need to make a ****ty remark about the cm10 guys on your way out but then again, you are here crowing about getting a year old phone so I shouldn't hold you to too high of a standard.

Anyways I just wanted to say thanks to HO!NO! and Andasa (not sure where he went...woulda been a prodigy ) and of course the CM Team (aremcee). I'm moving on from this too. Loved this phone, and will drop in from time to time as my brother is taking this, but I just wanted to say thanks to the awesome XDA community here.
Edit: Just got a galaxy s3. Loving it, but I'm using my nitro for a while.
Whatever happened to HO! NO!?

Let's see, not only is the Nexus a newer phone than the Nitro (Oct 2011 for Nitro, Nov 2011 for Nexus), but it:
1) Actually has stable Jelly Bean from Google
2) Actually can make it through a day of heavy use and still have battery left over
3) Actually has more than 3 person developing for it
4) Runs twice as smoothly as the Nitro, and crashes...well, never.
But since you're on here bashing anyone who criticizes the faults of the Nitro, I guess I shouldn't hold you to too high of a standard either. Nor would I expect you to understand the logic behind why I went with the Nexus and not the One X or SGS3, or why one of my friends, an admin here on XDA, still keeps his Galaxy Nexus as a daily driver despite having an SGS3 and getting free phones to test all the time. But I'll give you a hint: specs alone don't determine the user experience.

I don't understand where this is coming from. Looking at the 996gt2's original post, he didn't insult anyone at all. He just said he hoped the bugs with CM are worked out.

well, i am sure you are well on your way to getting that rocket science project designed with your nexus, it will certainly get those daily tasks done that much better than the nitro, so much so that you felt the need to let us all know about your big decision.

i couldn't care less if you understand where this is coming from, if you wanted to understand, you'd do a search and find for yourself the op's incessant ****-talking about cm.
again though, i could not give 2 ****s if you get my post or not.

Alright, I think the discussions have crossed the line with these last comments. There is no one perfect device for everyone... unless, of course, you are one of the Sheeple who believes everything Apple says. If we're so worried that someone else prefers another phone over what we have chosen ourselves, we may as well be playing for the other team.
Anyway, fun time's over, and as such:

(And yes. FWIW, I prefer my Galaxy Nexus over all of my other Android devices, including my Galaxy S III.)
