I'm not exactly sure what the problem is and even why you're not able to uninstall, but i would suggest trying the setInstallLocation trick before you try app2sd.

This is Xperia Play forums, Revolutionary is only for HTCs
To OP:
We need more info. But I'm going to assume you want to uninstall system apps. You can't do this through the normal applications menu, you'll need an ap like Titanium Backup. For a2sd you'll need to either use the pm setInstallLocation trick or use an app like DroidSail Super a2sd from the Google Play store

But then I need to root? Why should I when I'm supposed to to do it "out of the box" with Android 2.2?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You can only install apps to the SD card that the developers allow you to. You can check each app manually in the 'Manage Applications' screen or just let Android do it for you when it needs more space.
Dont listen to them they know nothing
You need Android SDK installed at your PC , then install lastest (2.2) version of adb, and also usb drivers (if you dont have), then connect phone in debugging mode, open cmd , in cmd go to "tools" folder where you installed SDK and write command "adb shell pm setinstallLocation 2" (without "")
after this every app will be installed on SD card and also you will be able to transfer apps you have now
And this works for official HTC ROM that was released this weekend - without root?
I don't wanna mess with my guarantee etc..
Don't understand why this isn't set by default, or not available to change this in the settings on the phone?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yes it does, and no it does not require root
now i realize that my "guide" is too complicated, there is better guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7460033
there is some guy talking something about losing waranty.. so be careful
Is there a way of batch-installing apk files that I have on my SD from on the phone itself using an app/tool e.g. Titanium Backup, MyBackup Pro etc? I've read through TiBackup's support but it seems to batch-install only apps that you'd have saved prior. I however have downloaded news apps that I haven't installed before and there're so many of them I don't want to install individually...

Sorry... I have tryed with official froyo without root but with bootloader 0.92 the adb isn't working.
This procedure only works with the froyo when the bootloader is on the 0.8x or later version.
Okay, thanx
So now we have to wait for apps like Spotify, XDA etc to update their software - so we can move apps to SD?
Hope that they will do it quick.
Is there any apps in market that has this option available? Just want to test it

Let's say for example, that in the future I'll upgrade to the Android 4.0. As far as I know all my info and apps will be lost (I could backup them but I am too lazy). But, will the apps I downloaded remain in my Google account so I can see on the Google Play what apps should I download again?

Data on your internal memory not on your SD card will be wipe out if you upgrade your stock ROM. I just flashed a custom ROM yesterday and my apps installed on my SD card are still there, but of course I also performed a nandroid backup first and titanium backup as well. All the apps I got from Play Store (aka android market) are still showing when you click "My Android Apps" link.
Thanks for the info guys.
Hello all, I have rooted the phone and installed "no bloat" from the play store. I try to delete all the bloat apps..such as play books, but it fails to delete even after i grant it su acess.
What could be wrong?

You are getting the super su prompt when launching titanium backup, correct? I've heard some issues with some people not having full root privileges on the stock rom. Try running a darkside cache wipe (in the dev section), reboot phone, and try again.

Please be sure to run the CACHE wipe and not the actual system wipe. Hope this resolves your issue.
download this app called root uninstaller. its so easy and free. i use this app instead because it only does one thing, which is delete any apps on your phone. system apps bloat apps and regular apps. keep it simple.
Could also be su issues. You could try to go in and delete the permissions and try again. Probably an issue with root though. could try a root check, dl updated bb and su, or just start over.
Thanks for the help everyone so far.
I went back to stock gb and rooted. Deleted the bloat
Thanks again!

Earlier this week my Sensation 4g died. I bought a Note 2. Little did I know that there were issues with it that I and others have with it, ie: no easy immediate way to do app to sd for instance. Another thing I wanted was to be able to add or take away data from installed apps by connecting the phone to a computer via usb and accessing the files that way, which again doesn't happen without some work.
Since then I have rooted the phone (according to the download mode screen, which says: current binary and system status is custom.
I have left everything stock except for the rooting part and installed Superuser and SuperSU and then tried to run Titanium Backup (free) when it said 'could not access root using \something\something\su command".
I have tried several other apps and methods of trying to do what I want (from the first paragraph) but none have succeeded either due lack of documentation (and I didn't know how to do a certain step or fix something) or it just didn't work.
So where am I at now? I have factory reset my phone and am now honestly not sure where to go or what to do from here. I've Googled and Googled but nothing quite seems to be able to fix what I need and if it does then it has the lack of documentation and can't help me.
Any thoughts or guides or something that anyone could post/link to? Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken but kernels don't deal with being able to save apps to sd. I could be wrong since I don't dabble in android dev. Thanks though.
We need background... 1st of all...
What way did you use to root (Cf_auto_root, Stock-root injected, etc)?
Does your phone still have exynos_exploit or did your phone come with that "OTA Update" pre installed?
What SD card are you using?
What rom/kernal are you trying to run?
Most of the time, in this particular forum, its seems best to just ask what your trying to accomplish within the various rom/kernal thread...
Like lets say im on Stick injected rom/kernal without extsd2internalsd (apps2sd) setup and lets say I want to go to Jedi Master 9.... I would then go to Jedi Master 9 thread and ask for help on how to effectively apply that rom with ExtSd2internalsd support from my current setup, and wait for the OP or seniors to reply... also while "patiently waiting" I would read/search through the hundreds of pages looking for answers/insights to my particular process... if needed might go to my own root process thread and ask for advice on how to get to jedi master 9
Id be more than willing to help you here but need some background on your phones current status and end rom/kernal to provide an answer (to be sure I dont lead you awry

Thanks. I did answer that I am running everything stock at the moment, just rooted, no kernel or rom. I have an 8gb class 4 microsd card. My root method was cf auto root. I also stated what I was hoping to achieve also (in my first paragraph). Hopefully this helps.
Oh, if possible I'd like the easiest way to remove or disable system apps like chat on or some of the tmobile stuff. I tried a couple different methods with that too but couldn't quite get it all to work.
I tried the qtadb app but couldn't get my device to be seen by the program on the computer and i tried that app because I had no idea where to start with regular adb, its been a long time since i've done any of this stuff.
To remove or disable system apps I use root uninstaller, sometimes it won't delete system apps on the first try just exit the app go back and do it again second attemt will do, for your data problem I'll try root browser or root Explorer

Well it turns out you can download and install apps requiring root but they just wont run correctly, if at all. I know because after my factory reset, i downloaded and ran 2 root checker apps, both of which said I no longer have root or something. So now I'm just going through the rooting process again.
Edit: I'm not rooted again, as checked by 2 root confirmation apps. Now to try to get TB running and remove bloatware.
Edit 2: Great success! I got TB to work, bought PRO and have just frozen everything i dont need or dont use.

Hi,
I recently updated my Hercules T989 to Jellybean 4.1.2 via Kies. When I was on ICS, I could easily uninstall the t-mobile stock apps(or any other stock apps) using Titanium Backup Pro. But after upgrading to JB 4.1.2, I cant uninstall a single stock app. I tried updating Titanium backup pro from 4.1 to 4.5.6 but its still the same. It can freeze the apps but one app: 't-mobile accounts' unfreezes itself. I dont know how it happens. By the way, the device is rooted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure Titanium Backup has root permissions? Check your Superuser app log and make sure they're being granted. You need root access for Titanium Backup to be able to remove/freeze system apps (like the built-in stuff).

Yes, I have checked it. TB has been granted root permissions. TB successfully freezes all my system apps. But only one app - "T-Mobile My Accounts" unfreezes itself automatically after a while. I dont know how or why that happens. All my other system apps stay frozen except that one single app. And about uninstalling, none of the system apps can be uninstalled. When I run the batch operation to uninstall, it shows the progress bar but gets stuck at 0%. No progress at all.

Sounds like you are using a stock based ROM then. So you will have to live with that app. Otherwise you may cause problems by trying to delete or freeze it. Anybody that is determined to remove it, you can use a root based file explorer and delete the apk from the system/app folder. Backup the app somewhere by copying & pasting it in another folder, so you can replace it later if you start experiencing issues.
