Hey all.
I want to know which is the max output impedance (Ohms) supported by arc.
I want to buy a AKG headphone with a 55 Ohms impedance, someone told me that is too much for smartphone. Really ?
No.
You can use it without any problem.
I have an AKG K414p and it sounds gorgeous if you ask me

Thanks you, quality is like when you plug it with your PC ?
I want to buy the AKG K271 Mk II
and they're difference with your 414p, 55 Ohms vs 32 Ohms(K414p)
For me i feel it better than when use on pc but not so loud. (I don't have a proper soundboard)
Our phones can hold around 72ohms easy, based on its SOC structure.
But i think that may cause some battery drain.
I recommend to you buy an pre amp like Fiio E5, which is discrete, cheap and powerfull.
Maybe this will deliver a better audio experience with high end headphones
Cheers!

If it has mic, you'll need to test.
Without, for sure.

i just ordered the livedock and thought about the livesound.
i need a good headset because im technically 24/7 listening to music.
now i just use the headset that comes with the xperia arc but i have to know how is the livesound compare to the stock headset? is there any difference from the bass, the volume and the quality?
I do not know about LiveSound, but MW600 is awsome!!! And it is wire free!!!
Mw600 or livesound...go for it. Im using livesound as we speak. I had mw600 till it broke

Which one was the best ?
To be honest livesound has the better sound quality. Though the mw600 was good too expect sometimes id hear crackles even if the phone is right next to me. Plus the upside of the licesound is that you wont be using battery on the phone for bluetooth either
Sent from my Xperia Arc using Tapatalk
i use a mw600 with sennheiser cx 300 earphones and sound is clear and powerfull
I will disagree about battery for bluetooth...Practice shows that powerfull earphones (cord) uses more battery trugh high impedance... I consider it with W950i( great phone!!!) + HBH-DS220 instead of Koss earphones or stock HPM-85... I see that it is working for an ArcS + MW600... MW600 great choice, for me I am using it with my Laptop for music, movies and skype...and I hate wires now)))
i got the cx300 too btw.
so should i buy the mw600 or the livesound? all i need is the buttons for the music, good bass, good quality and high volume.
so which do you think is better?
1-0 for MW600. But you should hear some from people who heared both...MW600 and LiveSound.
All the same to me, i have been trying to find the stupid livesound everywhere in mexico and nobody sells, im tired of looking 4 it.
and SE online sales are useless btw, they tell me to look for them in convenience stores cuz there are no more online sales at least for mexico.
the livesound headset is simply amazing, i have to use playerpro boost bass with the stock headset, but livesound just gives better bass quality.
help me please
Dude, if you don't more describe your problem we can't help you...
You can't use earphone or the MODE?
What ROM are you used ?
Do they have mic ? If yes you need a 3.5 to 3.5 mm adapter, but you still won't be able to use the mic.
I had the same problem and needed the 3.5mm adapter to get it sorted out
I too cant use my skullcandy icon2. It wont work till I press the button near the mic

or buy non-iphone compatible headphones
But the sound quality wont be a good if u use any adapter...i tried with my beats solo the audio qualoty is not good as it was on ipod. .the best output at the moment is only supported by ipod ipad n iphone none other will give u a best sound quality even HTC with beats audio dosnt gave u the output of beats headset comparing to Apple.....

You should try the JVC Xtreme Xplosives, I already tryed the XX on a Galaxy SII and the Xperia Arc S sound Quality is better
BTW iPhone/iPod sound quality is crap
I ended up getting an MH1 LiveSound headset to replace my Beats Audio Headset as the Headset that comes with the Arc S doesn't have the sound quality that the Beats has and I misses the extra buttons that the Beats have, & my Sony Ericsson headset that I got for my X8 is no longer compatable due to the removal of the headset control contacts for the Media buttons. The liveKey is a good addition as via LiveWare Manager it allows you to set it up to open any app you choose, I've got my MH1s running alongside the LiveView Smart Watch (the original one) Media keys using the LiveViews Media Key emulation & the MH1s LiveKey setup to open the FM Radio app.

Guys, I will be having a Verizon xperia Play in a few days. I wanted to ask what is your view on sound quality and bass as compared to phones like nexus S?
Well for me sound quality isn't equivalent to the amount of bass. My suggestion is to simply upgrade the headphone for that or buy a phone with hip branding such as DrDre phones.
I care more about clarity and I must say the Play have excellent sound quality, to my ears comparable to the Galaxy S though with smoother signature. I have to say Galaxy S with Voodoo kernel have the edge especially the RMAA test show the S with more accurate responses, but I prefer the way the Play is tuned for the ears. Also the stereo speakers are better.
I am actually not fond of supporting Sony, but if their other phones sound this good with similar smooth sound I might have to consider them for the future because good sounding Android phones are not abundant, especially coming from the Galaxy S.

Thanks buddy for your view on this.
I have a pair of AKG 518 and a Sennheiser HD202 and i gotta say that the best sound quality i've listen is from the iPhone/iPod.
I've never tested the Nexus S, but others phones like Nexus (I don't know how different from Nexus S is), Galaxy SII, Galaxy Ace, and for me, as lekhwani said, the Galaxy is probably a better option with the voodoo kernel (and even wihtout it). The Xperia Play doesn´t have a bad sound quality, but does not satisfied a person who is looking for the best sound quality in music.
If you care more about the music than the games and you don´t have enough money, you should probably go for an iPhone 3G.
Talking about headphones, if you really like a heavy bass, the Dr. Dre Beats Audio headphones are good, but if you really want to listen to a better and clear audio you should try something from AKG, Sennheiser or AIAIAI (go to a BestBuy and try yourself).
In my personal opinion Xperia Play sound quality is not good enough, not even with apps like poweramp or walkman player. The only really good thing in the XPlay is the stereo speaker.
Why are you exactly getting an Xperia Play?

Of course Xperia Play has the loudest sound in smartphones world because it has 2 speakers
But when talking about the purity, I think there are phones have a purer sound
i've actually tested the xperia play vs my brothers galaxy nexus and the play actually had better mids and highs with better overall sound.
i'm in music production and used both hd-650's and yamaha hs-50's.

Guys, I received mine about a few hours back. I am very much impressed with the build quality.
But seems I have some problem. Mine did not come with earphones. I have tried several others earphones and headphones. The sound seems muffled and abnormal and bass is completely missing and lyrics are very low. .
I researched a bit and found that my phone might have one of these issues.
1.Faulty Device, or
2.Proprietary Xperia Play Earphones needed.
I used extreme bass on Power AMP but saw no bass. Also used equalizer app to no avail.
I tried brainwavz, skull candy, creative, philips, lg, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro mk16i earphones. But the sound was not much different in any of these.
Kindly suggest me what do?
You need to get some xperia play earphones or an adapter
It should be fine with regular stereo headphones, but for headset it must be Sony.

The galaxy nexus is known to have a poor sounding dac (by TI I think), so is the SII (Yamaha). The Galaxy S and international SIII are the ones with Wolfson dac. The dac for the Qualcomm S4 phones are supposed to sound decent to.

I have tried various stereo earphones and headphones, but no difference in sound.
I tried Xperia pro earphones also. No difference.
Can a adapter or original Xperia play earphones make any difference?
Or, do I have a faulty device?

Probably is just me but i'd rather how my headphones sound in the Galaxy SII that in my Xperia Play.
I use a $10 pair of headphones I got from gamestop, along with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer and xloud (not sure if it helps or not for headphones, but it does for speakers)....I hear noticeable bass and I don't use the adapter.

As I said I am having verizon cdma version. And I read in a review that verizon phone comes with a 3.5 mm adapter to use with non-sony ericsson phones. Otherwise the sound does not come properly.

Hello everyone, hope you are doing fine.
I am planning to buy a new headphone for my LT18i.The stock one is working good(that came with it) but I really want something that can offer higher quality sound(Good bass and decent for Rock).I stumbled across this LiveSound model ( http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/accessories/livesound-hi-fi-headset/ ).
I need to know whether anyone has tried them with their lt18i or any other 2011 series phone and if they are better than the one that came with the phone.(Audio, Durability etc....).
Cheers! :fingers-crossed:

you can buy it from live note and other associated features but if you are lukin at sound , i guess at this price range you go for sennheiser JBL .or with a lil bit more for bose as well.
Be careful about mics arc s use old jack standard, new jack standard is common, Tesco in uk sell jvc gummy plus, not bad sound at all and come with Mic and converter cable, 14 UK pound, I only got them for the adaptor so I could use my Xperia z headphones or my beats by dre, headphones without Mic only have one standard so just be warned about the 2 standards of mic'd headphones, it cost me a lot trying loads of headphones, trying to replace the original arc headphones

Moorheart I can't say if they won't or will or it doesnt state what standard they use, one of the photos do look like a couple inch adaptor, but you would need to fine out, read some my posts 18 pairs of Mic'd headphones on my arc s to fine 2 that worked, then I walk in Tesco here in the UK and got a pair of gummy plus headphones that come with the needed adaptor, now with the adaptor I can use any mic'd headphones, but the gummy plus sound good, fit well and cone with the needed adaptor a 14 uk pounds, it could saved me a fortune buddy, I can now use my beats by dre or my Xperia z or sp headphones!!! So I'm well happy, I'm using the gummys in my Xbox 360 for online in-game chat , they work lovely

My Xperia M Dual's original headphones work with the phone, but my Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman's headphones don't work on my Xperia M Dual, can anyone explain why & how to get it working on my phone?
The mic and ground pins of the headphone is swapped, that's why they don't work.
You can use a proper 4-pin to 3-pin adapter to eliminate the mic, which of course the mic will not work, or you can find an adapter which exchanges the ground and mic pin (don't know if there is one).
The connection of the Xperia M should be the same as most (if not all) Xperia 2012 devices, as well as Apple ones.
Xperia 2011 range headset using OMTP technology, Xperia 2012 and newer using CTIA technology, so both headset will not compatible.
To use LWW headset in XMD phone, try using Fiio LU1 adapter
try to click the button of your headshet when you connect it to your phone...with some headshets work
If u prefer DIY just change wire connection in your headphone and solder it. I did it and using a nokia hdphne in xperia m.

This is a hardware difference, old Xperia headphones are OMTP but any Xperia released after late 2012 will work only with CTIA headphones, restoring device won't change anything

sorry for bumping into old thread.
secondly, i am not buy-in any logic provided above. i had the same problem earlier. original stock firmware 4.1 supports all headsets. but post updating to 4.2, suddenly headsets stops working except the original (bundled), even sony MDR-zx310 was not working. i am using sennheiser CX275s from last 6 months without any issue on my XMS (4.3). this is the only working headset, rest not headset/headphone is not supporting.
