LiveSound vs. SE in-box headset - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i just ordered the livedock and thought about the livesound.
i need a good headset because im technically 24/7 listening to music.
now i just use the headset that comes with the xperia arc but i have to know how is the livesound compare to the stock headset? is there any difference from the bass, the volume and the quality?

I do not know about LiveSound, but MW600 is awsome!!! And it is wire free!!!

Mw600 or livesound...go for it. Im using livesound as we speak. I had mw600 till it broke

Which one was the best ?

To be honest livesound has the better sound quality. Though the mw600 was good too expect sometimes id hear crackles even if the phone is right next to me. Plus the upside of the licesound is that you wont be using battery on the phone for bluetooth either
Sent from my Xperia Arc using Tapatalk

i use a mw600 with sennheiser cx 300 earphones and sound is clear and powerfull

I will disagree about battery for bluetooth...Practice shows that powerfull earphones (cord) uses more battery trugh high impedance... I consider it with W950i( great phone!!!) + HBH-DS220 instead of Koss earphones or stock HPM-85... I see that it is working for an ArcS + MW600... MW600 great choice, for me I am using it with my Laptop for music, movies and skype...and I hate wires now)))

i got the cx300 too btw.
so should i buy the mw600 or the livesound? all i need is the buttons for the music, good bass, good quality and high volume.
so which do you think is better?

1-0 for MW600. But you should hear some from people who heared both...MW600 and LiveSound.

All the same to me, i have been trying to find the stupid livesound everywhere in mexico and nobody sells, im tired of looking 4 it.
and SE online sales are useless btw, they tell me to look for them in convenience stores cuz there are no more online sales at least for mexico.

the livesound headset is simply amazing, i have to use playerpro boost bass with the stock headset, but livesound just gives better bass quality.

Headphones

Hello!
Thread especially made for headphone segment of the Xperia X8.
Also if you need help with picking a headphones for your phone post here,
i'll help if i can.
P.S.Sennheiser CX500 G4ME arriving in 2weeks so i'll pop a review and comparison beetwen the stock one and these.
I just got my X8 today and tried using it with my aftermarket iPhone ones and found they didn't work at all.
It works with the included headphones of course, but they're not very good (they don't even hold in my ears very well, which is a worry when I'm hoping to use them while running or cycling) and it works with ordinary (no microphone) 3.5mm headphones.
The plug of the iPhone headphones looks similar to the one of the Sony headphones but for some reason the X8 completely ignores them, it doesn't even send sound to the earphones let alone take microphone input.
Meanwhile, the Sony ones work on my iPod but they're extremely quiet.
Can someone confirm that this is in fact true generally, not just for my (two pairs of) iPhone headphones which I tried?
Is there any way I can get iPhone headphones to work with it (desirable because these earphones are easy to find and buy, relatively cheap and with wide choice) or do I have to stick with special Sony ones?
A major reason behind me getting my new phone was that I was sick of the crap Nokia pulled with my old phone requiring proprietary headphones with their connector. It's nice that the X8 works with standard non-microphone 3.5mm earphones, but what's the deal with microphone ones?
I use this nokia headphones for my xperia. Mic works as well as call button. All other nokia headphones with volume control won't work!
Xperia has unique jack for headphones with music controls...and I hate them for that! Original ones for music player are too expensive
I use the same ones as they're great for skype!
I1m using sennheiser HD 518 and they are great !!
Stock X8 headphones are sh%t.
Previously, I had a SE W810i Walkman and I must say, that hearing to the music (with stock headphones) was a real pleasure - very close to iPhone IMO.
So, when I bought X8, I was truly unsatisfied.
Then I decided to buy OEM SE MH810 stereo - AFAIK it comes with Xperia X10 mini Pro. That was a good choice - quite goood sound quality and I can control music player app (volume up/down, next/previous, play/pause).
I bought the mh810 and i use them while cycling.
The headphones are excellent. Its a shame they don't work on the big x10
I got mine for £12 off ebay
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Has anyone tried something like this - bluetooth stereo headphones?
i used to use blue-tooth stereo headphones on my mobile previously but a different model from those. i found there was quite high battery drain, but that might have been just my phone..

Confirmed. SE stock does not work with IPods, well you could make it work by pulling the connector out a little. It's due to the speaker part of the connector is differently recognized by SE and Apple. My apple headphones broke down a long time ago so can't test.
OEM SE headphones that come out of the box with W810i work pretty well, but the wire is short.

Any kind of headphones with a Talk Controller or microphone will not work with Sony Ericsson devices. Sony did something to the AUX port and its connections are inverted or something. I read a while back when i bought my pair of Dr.Dre beats.
I just got my LiveSound Headset and it does the same thing on my Asus Transformer like the DreBeats did on my Sony Ericsson. Great set of headphones Much better then Dr.Dre Beats and cheaper too.
I solved the problem.i sold my arc s and i bought galaxy s 2.Now i'm very happy with my phone and headphones.

WoW what a solution
iPhone+BlackBerry and SE+Nokia are using different standards for pin-outs on headphone jacks, so you have to change either headset, or headphones..

Is it so hard to use the Standard SE cable with mic/switch and plug in whatever headphones to that? For crying out loud! That's what I do and EVERY single pair of headphones that had issues does not do it if you plug them in that way! For now though, I found some nice ear buds that were for the xperia pure, I use them with the standard cable and the sound quality is fantastic.
There is a APK somewhere in SYSTEM folder that detects the unsupported headphone have someone tried to delete it and test it? Atleast we can get the headphones to work
Would this problem also occur when using my own headphones? (original iBeats, not from htc)
try to find a neutral stereo plug, they're included in marshal or urbanears headphone

There is a software solution for this?

or just selling the same S Arc? lol

I ordered an MH1 LiveSound Headset in white for 19.99GBP and 1.99GBP shipping off eBay yesterday and they came today. The flat anti tangle cable is way better than the iBeats cable & the mic/control unit is a better quality than the iBeats, the sound quality is way better than the stock black headset that comes in the box of the Arc S and I would say it's on a par with the Audio quality of the iBeats. I've got the LiveKey set up to launch Play Music via LiveKey Launchee that's available in the Play Store, I might set it up to control Track ID or FM Radio as the Music Control feature on the LiveView kind of makes it obsolete, as there is no propper Music Control on the MH1s other than Volume & Play/Pause using the middle button.
I chose the white MH1s only on the grounds that they go nicely with my white Arc S. I tried using the white headset that came with my X8 but the sound was really poor compared with the black headset that comes with the Arc S.

[Q] ION earphones w/ mic

Ok so I saw this from the Xperia S board
Splinter153 said:
Hi Guys
So after painstakingly reading through every message in this thread to ensure I do not paste a duplicate answer, I can inform you I have found the true problem regarding headphones.
Straight from the words of a Sony technician:
The cause of the incompatibility: Sony Xperia S supply 2V (Volts) purely from an energy consumption perspective. The microphone in the boundled Sony Mobile headset is Electret microphones that only require a 2V feed. For other suppliers (e.g. IPhones headsets) they can use MEMS microphones that require a minimum of 2,7V.
In order for fully compatibility, Sony smartphones need to supply a minimum of 2,7V. This requires a feature/HW change.
A feature/HW change has been submitted to be implemented in coming products.
So moral of the story is, Sony screwed us all...

Does this mean I can't use a mic similar to my X10? I tried using them earlier and I now know they dont work with my ION because Sony went with the CTIA format. So what do you guys use for a mic? I'm wanting to use a mic similar to the one that came with the X10, by that I mean I want to be able to plug in any earphones I want with the mic since earphones eventually break with one side not working. Thanks.
I'll check the ones I have. I have a set I got from my dell streak and the ones from my xperia s.

thanks because I use google hangouts with friends but the ion isn't exactly loud, even with xloud on
May not be exactly what you're looking for but I use Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds with the mic.
http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/headphones/earphones-and-earbuds/inkd
I've used these for probably the last 2 years, great sound quality, full refund too if they stop working, only thing I've had happen to mine were one of the buds stops working. Pretty durable for the price, I've only broken 1 pair from skateboarding/biking. Also most stores will carry them for $15 instead of $25 like listed on the site.
Tried the generic ones I got with my Dell Streak and they worked....gotta find my Xperia S headphones to try.
I think you should try out the Sony LiveSound Hi-Fi Headset, it cost a little bit of money but it sounds awesome! Comes with an in-line mic with built-in remote.
I personally use the Sony MW600 Stereo Bluetooth Headset, no wires extending to your phone in your pocket. just a short earbud wire that wraps around your neck. you can also disconnect the supplied wire and use a 3mm wire to plug into a stereo or your car's aux so you're completely hands free and the sound comes out of car's speakers.
Both of these are available on the Sony mobile online store, probably sold cheaper on amazon.
so the ION does support earphone's with mic and you guys have all tried out the mic ? sry for this question, I got my phone from best buy and so it didn't come with the earphones. Instead I've been using my earphones from my X10 and with the ION using the new standard and with the quote from my first post I was thinking that the ION didn't support the mic in earphone combo
I used the HTC buds that come with some of there WP7 devices. Worked like a charm.

From what I read, the LiveSound headset doesn't fully work on the 2012 Xperia phones. There's another pair called Smart headset that are fully compatible with the ion. They're basically the same set other than that.
I just ordered the MW600 headset, the design reminded me alot of the old Sony MiniDisc Walkman remotes. Seems really slick.
I have the Smart wireless headset pro MW1. They work great and the audio quality is awesome for music and calls.
I just didn't want to buy a pair that the ion wouldn't support, but I'll have to look and see which to get. I wan't the skullcandy ink'd 2 pair but idk if they'll work. time for some more research

Sound quality

Guys, I will be having a Verizon xperia Play in a few days. I wanted to ask what is your view on sound quality and bass as compared to phones like nexus S?
Well for me sound quality isn't equivalent to the amount of bass. My suggestion is to simply upgrade the headphone for that or buy a phone with hip branding such as DrDre phones.
I care more about clarity and I must say the Play have excellent sound quality, to my ears comparable to the Galaxy S though with smoother signature. I have to say Galaxy S with Voodoo kernel have the edge especially the RMAA test show the S with more accurate responses, but I prefer the way the Play is tuned for the ears. Also the stereo speakers are better.
I am actually not fond of supporting Sony, but if their other phones sound this good with similar smooth sound I might have to consider them for the future because good sounding Android phones are not abundant, especially coming from the Galaxy S.

Thanks buddy for your view on this.
I have a pair of AKG 518 and a Sennheiser HD202 and i gotta say that the best sound quality i've listen is from the iPhone/iPod.
I've never tested the Nexus S, but others phones like Nexus (I don't know how different from Nexus S is), Galaxy SII, Galaxy Ace, and for me, as lekhwani said, the Galaxy is probably a better option with the voodoo kernel (and even wihtout it). The Xperia Play doesn´t have a bad sound quality, but does not satisfied a person who is looking for the best sound quality in music.
If you care more about the music than the games and you don´t have enough money, you should probably go for an iPhone 3G.
Talking about headphones, if you really like a heavy bass, the Dr. Dre Beats Audio headphones are good, but if you really want to listen to a better and clear audio you should try something from AKG, Sennheiser or AIAIAI (go to a BestBuy and try yourself).
In my personal opinion Xperia Play sound quality is not good enough, not even with apps like poweramp or walkman player. The only really good thing in the XPlay is the stereo speaker.
Why are you exactly getting an Xperia Play?

Of course Xperia Play has the loudest sound in smartphones world because it has 2 speakers
But when talking about the purity, I think there are phones have a purer sound
i've actually tested the xperia play vs my brothers galaxy nexus and the play actually had better mids and highs with better overall sound.
i'm in music production and used both hd-650's and yamaha hs-50's.

Guys, I received mine about a few hours back. I am very much impressed with the build quality.
But seems I have some problem. Mine did not come with earphones. I have tried several others earphones and headphones. The sound seems muffled and abnormal and bass is completely missing and lyrics are very low. .
I researched a bit and found that my phone might have one of these issues.
1.Faulty Device, or
2.Proprietary Xperia Play Earphones needed.
I used extreme bass on Power AMP but saw no bass. Also used equalizer app to no avail.
I tried brainwavz, skull candy, creative, philips, lg, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro mk16i earphones. But the sound was not much different in any of these.
Kindly suggest me what do?
You need to get some xperia play earphones or an adapter
It should be fine with regular stereo headphones, but for headset it must be Sony.

Apt x Bluetooth receiver HTC bh s600

Anybody ever use this? Know anything about it? I couldn't find much info on it. When I called HTC they said I had to call internationally to get any info on it. It looks like the best deal. For the price about 64 US dollars with shipping(if my math is correct). Buy the way there is a video of it on YouTube of someone using it to take pictures with there one x. I just want to know if this will work with our Samsung. I don't really care if the camera thing doesn't work. I just want to use it in my cars auxiliary port.

It will probably do the trick, but....
I was on this quest before for my audio system, I spent hours researching apt-x and compatable recievers (and wondering in my mind why such a great technology has not been more widely implemented), I ended up buying this on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-HS3000-Clip-On-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset-Headphones-/251003339582
Samsung discontinued it, and it was like $30 last year, but considering the availability of apt-x compatable recievers in the united states (for some reason, Europe has way more) and the amount of time other people have spent using the HS3000 and giving positive feedback, its safe to say that $50 is not that bad.
Thread about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711299
I've read that the HTC is "clunky" to use. With an HTC phone, it supposedly is easier for it to connect and use. But with Samsung there were connection issues, as in it would connect but you had to fiddle with it every time you wanted to use it.
Those were just reviews I read though. I have no personal experience with it.
i have the sony mw600 and the samsung hs3000. I even wrote a review about a couple of weeks ago. The mw600 doesn't have apt-x but can go a lot louder then the hs3000.

You should wait if you can. Sony showed the SBH-20 bluetooth headset adapter. Similar to the mw6000 and hs3000. Going to order it when they ship. Should be in February or March.

Thanks for this. I was also considering the HS3000 but this looks like a contender.
However, the reason I wanted the Samsung is because of apt-x which I do not see listed under the Sony's specs.

You should wait if you can. Sony showed the SBH-20 bluetooth headset adapter. Similar to the mw6000 and hs3000. Going to order it when they ship. Should be in February or March.

I have both the mw6000 and hs3000. And the sound qualiry is a little bit better then the sony one but sony does go a lot louder then the samsung one. But the controls on the sony suck but you can disable the phone calling button on the device. You can't do that on the samsung. Very annoying. I would accidently press it and it will call the last person you called. I switched back to the sony because of that.

Hey guys,
anyone use the BH S600?
ive purchased the samsung hs3000 and i am using it with shure in-ear-headphones, but the quality is worse than the the direct connection per wire(of course, it is better than another bluetooth headset, which is using the SBC-codec).
so i am now thinking about the HTC BH S600?

It happened to be I having both stereo bluetooth unit too. In fact I still having Moto S705 and i.Tech 803 before.
Yes Sony MW600 tend to have higher output, but it's also still exhibiting Sony typical V-shape, rough and Hi-Fi sound.
To me pairing Samsung HS3000 with Samsung Galaxy S3/Note2, the default Music Player provide are much better sounding than any 3rd party player under default Nomral EQ setting both on the cellphone and the bluetooth unit. They are by far the most cleanness, livelier and better sounds separation MP3 playback I've heard so far, when side-by-side comparing to Motorola S705, Sony MW600 with the my TDK-200 IEM, and I've remebered i.Tech 803 with Sony MDR-EX500SL did not sounded this good too.
The much better sounding I've think most probably was because the S3/Note2 default Music Player was streaming the audio with aptX codec. Switching to any other 3rd party music players, they did not sounded as clean and livelier. And of course aptX not necessary mean better sound, but in HS3000 case it is.
My impression of Sony stereo BT unit, as with my older Sony MW600, it just sounded so rough when side-by-side comparison to Samsung HS3000. Even i.Tech MC803 and Motorola S705 sounded cleaner than MW600. Maybe I put it this way, my impression about Sony BT was they always sounded too Hi-Fi to me as I've always prefer better musical sounding device.
Btw, even though HS3000 output was around 3dB lower than Sony MW600, but it is still loud enough most of the with time, even with low volume CD directly rip to MP3 or FLAC without boosting volume by 150%.
noise cancellation
I just received a Sony SBH20 in the mail today...
pretty impressed overall. quality is excellent and the NFC capability to pair is pretty rad (though if i'm being honest, once you pair it's not that useful)
However the noise cancellation is non existant...
I'm wondering about the HTC now, if the noise cancellation is any better? Does anyone have the HTC BH S600? Ideally I would connect it into my car speaker - which is not possible with the Sony SBH20.
Cheers.

I was googling for bluetooth receiver with apt-x and came across this new product:
http://www.arcam.co.uk/products,rseries,wireless-dacs,rBlink.htm
for me the digital output feature is a win. But it's way over expensive.
this looks good:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/UPLAY-PUCK-Bluetooth-Receiver-Apt-X-Technology/dp/B003BF0OF2
but no digital out.
hmm.
Best buy sells an aptx stereo receiver that has an optical audio out.
