Im trying to see if anyone else has AVRCP 1.3 working in any AOSP ICS rom out right now. Supposedly CM9 and AOKP incorporated it into build 32 but I cant get it to work on my head unit. Stock ICS TW ROMS work. Has anyone else got the track info meta data to stream to the unit on any AOSP rom?
OLD POST
Im buying a head unit for my car that has AVRCP 1.3 support for for meta data. Does any of the stock roms support this..ICS or GB? Or how bout the CM9 Builds? If not can i get the stack and push it into the phone?

Got my Head unit in. Im running the ICS build and the meta data is showing on the unit fine. Cant speak for CM9 on ET4G but on my OG epic its a no go
Seems that none of the AOSP roms have AVRCP 1.3 support only ICS TW roms do.
No AVRCP 1.3 Support on AOSP
Hey All,
I have been researching this topic as well since I use my phone in my Civic over bluetooth. Unfortunately any AOSP 4.0.x doesnt have this support only TW ROMs have it. I really want to use AOKP or Codename, but I like to see the artist and track name.

So does anyone know if any E4GT roms other than stock ones support AVRCP 1.3? This is a must have feature for me, but I personally prefer AOSP roms. Sounds like this is only gonna work with Touchwiz based roms, huh? Crap.

Supposedly CM9 and AKOP do but I cant get it to work. I want to know if this is a upstream problem or a problem with our ports..
Aokp avrcp 1.3
So I have tested this and it is working on AOKP v32 in my 2012 Civic. The only weird part is that it shows an odd track #.
Please note this will only work with play music (google music) and the stock music player.

Yea im using play music but I get nothing. I have this unit and I know AVRCP 1.3 works because stock ICS works. Im lost.
It seems that the implementation of AVRCP 1.3 is not working correctly for alot of users. MarcLandis over at Rootz is working on it and has some builds that are showing improvement.

In my previous life with my TouchPro2, I used the AOSP roms and they worked well. With my Galaxy S II / D710, I've only used the Sprint based ROMs.. including the latest FC07.
I haven't found any posts comparing the AOKP ROM (which, unless I'm mistaken is based off of AOSP) to these Sprint ROMs..
Are there any major differences or anything that the AOKP ROMs will not do?
I'd be curious to hear opinions from people who have tried both and why they ended up with one over the other.
thx
Just to clarify, they're not "Sprint ROM's", they're called "Touchwiz ROM's". The Touchwiz UI is added on top of Android by Samsung then Sprint adds some apps and there you have it. Now I shall let someone who has experience with AOKP answer better for you since I do not have any experience with AOKP yet.
To be quite honest, there's nothing that one can do that the other probably cant. AOKP and AOSP tend to have more things built into the ROM itself like overclocking, etc.
But in the end, no, there's nothing I can think of that one can do that the other can't. There may be something out there, but I've not come across it yet. I've used both, and I prefer somethings about each.

There are some things like cm7 you could use Wii mote with the Bluetooth stack and could not on touch wuz....aokp is cm 9 on steroids..... Lots more customizable

I haven't tried an AOKP rom but I'm assuming it's very similar to an AOSP rom. I personally think an AOSP rom as a lot less bloat, and right out of the box it's very customizable, but I switched back to a touchwiz rom because I think the samsung camera app is one of the best camera apps out there, plus I think touchwiz runs a lot better on our phones.
Aside from a few "bugs" here and there with the FCxx roms that they are basing the AOKP roms off of, there are only a few faults. One I keep on running into is the Netflix problem. Hell, aside from getting sick of trolling this place for over a year combined with my Streak 7 and my E4GT, I had to try and get in on the action with FC and FB "leaks", CM9, AOKP, and other 2.3 based rom fun.
But seriously, the only problem I have keeping me from making AOKP a daily driver is the Netflix problems. I need my netflix for work.

aokp is being ported right now but it is just like cm9 it's built from aosp source code ... And not being based off any of the fc or fb leaks .... They are using kernels from them with changes because there is no kernel source to build a aosp kernel with right now

The development on AOKP ROM, which brings Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 to a lot of devices, sure seems to be going at a fast pace. Build 33 of AOKP has now been released for all officially supported devices, just a few days after build 32 showed up. It brings along a slew of fixes as always along with a few new features.
Top 10 android phones
Before anything, I tried searching and could not find anything on this, but then again, I am new at trying to find things on the forums here..
But i love using the AOSP or AOKP roms on my phone, but ever since AOKP went from 10/22 to the newer updates, everytime I stream music or videos on my car, it sounds like its either coming out mono or like a really old radio... so i switched to TW to test it out and every TW rom it works perfect... Tried it on PA, AOKP, CM10 nightlies and stable, Slim Bean, Codefire, and all of them have this issue while streaming.. Now for some that is minor, but i travel a lot, so i like to stream my music... so if anyone can please help me with this I would really appreciate it..
thanks in advance
I have spent the last few hours searching all over, just like I do every few months, trying to find a stable ICS or Jellybean ROM with everything actually working. Finally decided to just post and ask for some help. I don't care about beats audio or any other stuff people add in, just plain stock is preferable, but I need wifi, 4g, youtube, and all the camera stuff to work. Are there any ICS or JB ROMs out there where everything works the way it should?

*sigh*
There's so much I want to say. But instead, I will say this:
This device is only officially supported through Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). Any Android versions past that do not have official drivers, so they would have to be built from scratch, for a device that has been EOL for quite a while. Thus, your statement "where everything works the way it should" doesn't make sense, as the device doesn't officially support running ICS or JB.
That being said, all of the ICS/JB ROMs suffer at the very least the same list of things not working - FFC, 4G, HDMI out, Netflix. Videocam can also be an issue on some. So, based on your criteria, you'll be sticking to Sprint-based Gingerbread Sense ROMs .

Not sure why all the sighing and such but thanks for the info. It's hard to tell because it's not always clear what people base a ROM on and it seems like only about half the people posting ROMs list what doesn't work. I was hoping there might be a cynagenmod 9 or 10 for it at some point but it doesn't seem likely.

CM9 and CM10 both exist for the supersonic, but development has been discontinued on them. But that doesn't matter anyway; those features I already mentioned still don't work, so they're disqualified from your consideration.

The CM9 and CM10 builds to which I refer are completed ROMs. They're just not officially supported by CyanogenMod. But they're built directly from CM source.

To me finished means things work. I mean what makes it finished? Just that you are able to install it on the phone? If that were the case there was a finished version more than a year ago. Obviously cyanogen doesn't think it's finished either otherwise they would make it official.

That's not what makes a CM build official or not. But I'm not going to bore you with facts you can find via Google. And yes, everything that can/should work work. But there are updates to drivers that can make things work better, or tweaks here and there that can be done. Besides the fact that Google releases updates/patches that need to be included.
Since I answered your original question, I will now digress.
Lol how many times a week are people going to ask about ics and jb builds with everything working, or official HTC releases without looking for themselves first before realizing they don't and wont ever exist. Yes they are finished, they boot, make calls, get data, the only things that dont work on em are 4g and FCC. Just unroot your phone and forget about it, you aren't cut out for this business son.

You need to assess just how important some features are to you. If you only have an Evo, and somehow don't have an upgrade on your plan, then you have 2 options.
1: Keep it stock, everything works. No hassle, just poor battery life. Maybe get Superuser and remove the adware/junk if you feel like it.
2: Use a custom ROM which will not have working 4g, FFC, and other features that you won't know they don't work until you go to use them.
Weigh the pros and cons and make a choice, but everyone here so far is correct. The device is EOL and there will most likely never be a working ICS/JB build that has all features working. That would require too much work, for an EOL device.

If you must have all radios and hardware of the EVO 4G fully functional, you should stick with a gingerbread ROM v 2.3.5 or later. MikG 3.11 is a Sense based ROM that is well integrated and fully supports all EVO 4G operations. You can download MikG 3.11 at http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?10338-MikG-v3-11-3-9-2012.
As others have indicated, no ICS or Jellybean ROM supports 4G or the FFC. Sadly the necessary work for the hardware drivers is not likely to happen. If you do not require working 4G or FFC, there are a number of fully functional Android 4.0.4 (ICS) or 4.1.2 (Jellybean) ROMs available. I happen to like HALO Series II Nova http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903469&page=33 and AlienMOD Solar Flare Series V http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086163 with the caveat that I am experiencing some tint issues with camera applications in these ROMs.

Hey man BobWalker's got some catchin up to do-- there's at least a hundred threads he hasn't necro-bumped yet!

Try jmztaylor's unofficial CM9. It's my daily driver, and it's solid. 4G doesn't work, but Wifi, Youtube, and the camera all work perfectly.
I've been browsing through quite a few threads that have discussion of AVRCP, and I think I have become confused.
I currently am using LiquidSmooth RC2 (2.3 has more issues on my particular device and has a feature I like stripped out)...and from what I read, in order for track info to show on my BT radios I need AVRCP which is not supported in AOKP. (unless I'm confused on that too )
So can anyone tell me what ROMS I should be looking at to get that support? I've read that CM10 should have it, but browsing through that thread, I've seen posts about issues with it on CM10.
Just not sure which ROMS I should be exploring to get that support.
Thanks...

I don't find anything for that title on XDA. Do I only get it at the CM site? While doing some searching, it appears that there is a 4.2.2 CM M2. Again, only find that at the CM site. I'll try to see how I can get feedback there if no answer here: but any idea if the CM M2 4.3.3 has AVRCP support?
I find that 4.2.2 ROMS run SO MUCH FASTER, and have MUCH BETTER BATTERY LIFE.
But not having the AVRCP support is a pita.
Anyone know of a 4.2.2 popping up with that support?
