This ROM is completely stock with exception that root/busybox is included and it uses the stock(No CWM) kernel. Also no new modem for this build, so FC05 is the correct modem for this build.
All must be flashed through CWM

First of based off my post count you can tell that I am new to this so please be kind.
On the Blend ICS thread I have seen (can't post there yet, that's why I am posting here) several people state that it is best to run FC14 on the stock FC14 kernel, but that kernel does not include CWM so in order for me to update to a new ROM I would need to flash back (Odin) to a kernel that does include CWM. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
So, to get off of the stock kernel (no CWM) should I use the [KERNEL/RECOVERY][ICS] Rogue *Stock FC07* (New 3/10/12) kernel for this? Sorry if this is noobish, I only ask because in that thread it states:
Warning-
***DO NOT USE THIS RECOVERY TO FLASH ANY ROM***

so, I don't want to brick my phone and thought that I should ask before I use it.
Welcome!
You'll probably want to read over this thread as it should answer your questions about the brick concerns:
How Not To Brick Your E4GT
Thanks for the welcome, and also thanks for the response.
I guess my specific question is what are they (e.g. bigtoysrock) using as the kernel with CWM support when flashing using Odin so that they can flash a new ROM?

We've had "patch" style modems in the past where you need to be on a certain modem version for the update to work. The initial EK02 modem that came with the OTA was like that, but Samsung got wise and now ships full modems with the OTAs as well.

You are looking at the compressed sizes. Compare the uncompressed sizes (around 15mb) and/or run an md5sum.
Full as opposed to a patch modem and yeah dalvik is a vm app cache not related to modem. Cant speak for primary cache in relation to the radio interface layer and such. But i never clear just for modem.

Hello everyone
I am trying to flash an ICS rom, and I am coming from the gingerbread Blazer 4.0 rom. Right now my recovery is Rogue CWM, which I guess is "hitman". While I have been trying to figure out how to flash ICS, I have read that I should not use hitman to flash ICS.
I was trying to change recovery but following the e4gtauto file, choosing option C, it gives a list of Bootimg's. For EL29, which is what I am on, it has option H. "install bootimg EL29+CW-Rogue" and I. "install bootimg EL29."
I am guessing choosing option H I would still be on Hitman? So I was hoping somebody could tell me how to flash the right recovery so I can flash ICS? I want to flash Super Galaxy ROM Stock V1.7.
Thank you!

I was very proficient at flashing custom ROMs onto my old HTC One V, but this past weekend I got a Virgin Mobile Galaxy S2, updated it via the Samsung official downloader to JB 4.2.1 (GB28) immediately. then, I downloaded the Framaroot apk onto my phone via play store and rooted with the Aragon hack. SuperSU is on my phone.
So, I've been reading and reading and READING in order to make SURE that I understand the process involved with customizing my new S2. Here is what I want on my phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051513 (Paranoid Android) and in the instructions it says that I simply need this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26295021
So, since I currently have GB28 and it is a Virgin Mobile phone, all I need to do is download this?
JB - Virgin Stock/Touch-Wiz Kernels
Available Kernels (ZIP Format): GB28 (Virgin) / FL14 (Virgin)
Available Kernels (TAR.MD5 Format): GB28 (Virgin) / FL14 (Virgin) <---and this one I can install using Mobile Odin, right?
Available Kernels (One-Click Format): GB28 (Virgin) / FL14 (Virgin)
And that will put CWM on my phone and I can then flash PA from recovery as I'm accustomed to? Nothing else? No need to worry about the stock modem?
I really appreciate the help!
No, those are stock kernels. You already have that on your phone. You need to flash a custom kernel. I recommend chris41g's el26. Flash the tar with pc or mobile odin, reboot to recovery, wipe everything, flash rom, ics modem(if needed), reboot, profit.

Any ics modem will work for VM. It's the same principle as the GB27 modem working on my Boost phone. But I think the rom is a ctually FL26, but not sure there's a stand alone modem, which came out at the same time as Sprints FL24. But FL24 modem should work just fine. It works on Boost, no reason it shouldn't work on VM.

Download EL26+CWM tar from the repo (check the stickies)
Download FL24 modem zip, also from the repo
Download the AOSP rom of your choosing (ParanoidAndroid it looks like)
Download whatever gapps you want to use

Mobile Odin -> EL26+CWM.tar.md5
Pull battery when you see the Galaxy S2 logo.
Reboot to recovery by holding Volume Up and Power
Make a nandroid
Wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik-Cache
Flash FL24 modem zip

ICS repacks have the super brick bug. Generally anything with the word brick in the title is to be avoided.
Jb repacks and source built kernels for touch wiz work great as long as you stay on touch wiz. They sometimes have issues flashing aosp ROMs.
El26+cwm is the only kernel i am aware of that can flash anything, from any setup, with no issues.
Edit: you get a new kernel when flashing the ROM anyways. El26 is only to get you from tw to aosp.

That is not entirely correct. Unlike jelly bean, ics modems were not released as carrier specific(see link). FL24 is the latest ics modem for Sprint, Boost, VM, etc...

Ah ok! Yes, it seems just fine so far.
I just checked my PRL and it is the same as it was on TW Stock. So, all seems okay.

When you flash a new modem, it never hurts to update prl and profile. Not sure if that option is available in PACman, but something to keep in mind regardless. Glad it's working for you. Have fun!

Ah ok, thanks!
hey, apps that require superuser access are taking FOREVER to get permission. Did I lose root? What should I do to fix that? I installed SuperSU to see if that will fix, but it keeps trying to install binary and isn't successful.
wait...I may have something. Let me see...
nope...same deal.
I had rooted with Framaroot. I'm trying to reinstall it to reroot, but it won't let me click "install"...only "cancel".
