I'm a little confused by the cwm in the thread title. I thought cwm was kernel related, not modem?
Oh wait, nevermind lol you're giving us a modem.zip to flash in cwm. I get it!

Interesting. Just for practice or what? Learning to create cwm zips is on my list somewhere of things todo. Just wondering since of course there was already one posted. Ive seen a lot of you so have to figure this is nothing new to you.

We've had "patch" style modems in the past where you need to be on a certain modem version for the update to work. The initial EK02 modem that came with the OTA was like that, but Samsung got wise and now ships full modems with the OTAs as well.

The fd26 modem zip thats been available (at least the one I've found)was 4.82 mb.. this one is bigger(not by much) at 5.16 mb... not sure what the difference would be.. but it might be interesting to at least check it out before making a new developer in our community feel like crap... just sayin..

You are looking at the compressed sizes. Compare the uncompressed sizes (around 15mb) and/or run an md5sum.
Full as opposed to a patch modem and yeah dalvik is a vm app cache not related to modem. Cant speak for primary cache in relation to the radio interface layer and such. But i never clear just for modem.

GENERAL INFORMATION
This is Calkulin's stock rooted EL13 2.3.6 ROM/Kernel, with Rogue Recovery v1.1.2.
The only modifications I made were adding Rogue Recovery v1.1.2 to Calkulin's ROM, and modified the updater-script to format /data.
I made this for my own personal use, and thought I would share it in case anyone else was interested in it. I'm not trying to get rich and famous, claim anything as my own, or even do anything even remotely amazing or interesting here. If I possibly saved you a couple of minutes by downloading and flashing one .zip instead of two, that is why this is here. I'm not interested in how many people give me thanks or donations or anything like that, I just thought I'd try to put this out there if it might be helpful to anyone.
If your not interested in this, that is fine with me. This really isn't anything special and may not be much help to you. I get that. I'm not interested in cluttering things up with negative posts.

Seems like a lot of stuff on the XDA links, but if you watch the video, he'll tell you exactly what to download. Some little things got updated with the files/names, but you should be able to figure it out.
Well welcome to the community just follow the information the users above posted and you will be fine.. The information can be overwhelming but but far from impossible.. Enjoy your device & wish you much luck
Thanks guys! I'm already learning a lot and look forward to learning more. I'll probably stay away from ICS roms until the source stuff is integrated to significantly reduce my chances of bricking.

The new kernel from the source is out. Its in the wiki section under kernels. Its safe for flashing ICS to ICS. They disable the "brick bug" So by all means if you want to try ICS it should be safe to do so. Make sure you follow the dev's instructions.

From my understanding as agats said in the link below. If you are on a GB rom just make sure it has clockwork mod kernel repack or it won't boot. Flash the kernel on there and flash your ics ROM

For those of you who would like to run stock kernels with the builds
here are repacked FH13 and FH23 kernels with my recovery and some init.rc edits.
SD card read speed.
Custom boot animation support
init.d support
FH13
1. FH13_AGAT.zip flash in recovery.
2. FH13_AGAT.tar flash with ODIN or Mobile ODIN.
FH23
This repack comes with AGAT tREC_v0.2.2
1.FH23_AGAT.tar flash with ODIN or mobile ODIN Mirror
2. FH23_AGAT.zip flash in recovery. Mirror
I have tested this repack with my tFF18 rom and it works.
So far no problems.

Not to sound like a douche but yes. I reboot twice after a fresh flash and charge to max. Then I use my phone like normal for an hr meaning screen is on and with 3g. At the end of one hr its usually sitting pretty at 80%. Sometimes 83 or sometimes 75 but that gives me an idea. I get about 10% drain per 30min on 3g with good signal thats my start point. This is how it was on gb and now on ics it has matched

I was on this kernel little bit over an hour. Did some test. Run some programs.
Other than that when I'm home I'm on my laptop trying stuff. Phone is next to me for testing mostly.
My battery tests are running from time I go sleep (never put my phone on charge over night) till next day when I come home.
I know kernel is somewhat good if over night I'm loosing not more than 5-6% battery.

Just tested also and so far getting a bit of an improvement compared to the LG3 radio.. 14.39Mbps down and 1.42Mbps up using Speedtest.net
The best so far lower pings higher up and down speeds Aokp ics 7/15 Lexington Ky.

I would suggest you ask a mod (JAY or PAPA) to move this over to Q&A. For the question, I would do some research and try them out.

I don't flame. its not in my nature. Also, we all make mistakes.
I had no issues with 4g speeds on aokp several months ago. Give it a try with whatever modem is currently working best for you. Immediately before you flash aokp update your prl and profile and get a GPS lock.
Why can't you just mobile odin or flash the modem? I did on PA...runs fine.

As I recall you cannot use mobile_odin to flash a modem it needs to be done through pc odin.
