[Q] [CM7.x] Improve GPS and Sensors - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Is it possible to somehow improve Gio GPS sensor performance? It takes alot of time to fix GPS.
In S5830 forums, I see there is a fix for CM7.x ROMs. Does someone knows how to port or use it in S5660?

[Q] About CM 9 beta5 flickering option

Hy ,
I randomly found an option in GalaxyICS settings to reduce flickering (I know it's gone in beta-5) but I just feel a lil' bit of flicker still and I don't seem to find that option anymore , can someone help me out 3 ?
Wait? Your galaxyics settings work?
Sent from my GT-S5660
No , not in the application , in System settings , srry for that I forgot to mention ^^
Well, they probably removed it because they thought flicker was completely gone.....
Sent from my GT-S5660
Nope , I used it in beta-5 , but I reflashed the room and can't find it anymore oO wierd

Playing with the CPU settings will help fix some of the flickering, and there is a setting about something like "Use Hardware acceleration for 2D Applications" and that will greatly help.
but i see that in beta-5 flickering is gone...or isn't?

[Q][APP][PORT] JVU Camera to ICS

Hello everybody,
for some days I've been using ICS on my SGS.. Everything is very smooth and good, but I miss the camera functionality of the JVU-ROM.
I've tried to simply copy over the odexed camera.apk to my ICS-ROM but it is not even shown in the launcher.. So I can't start it!
Anybody else tried to use the JVU camera on ICS? Interrests?
put a "[Q]" or "?" in topic title :/
btw,
I think is impossible. cause Samsung's camera app use framework and I never seen Samsung's Camera app in CM or ICS or MIUI ROMs.
perhaps you are right, haven't found any posts due to this thematic..
does anybody know a good alternativ from the market? with the nice panorma function of samsungs camera app?

Is not impossible but it is not allowed by Samsung -due to copyrights.
That's why didn't see Samsung apps (not only the camera) in cyanogen or miui!

I think that would be no problem, because I payed for those apps as I bought my SGS and if I use this app on my SGS nobody can say something...
The camera app should not be in CyanogenMOD or MIUI but a flashable apk for those who want to use it on AOSP-ICS for SGS would be a nice thing.. I will try a little bit around with this

But there is higher chance that in CM7 we will have fully working camera. While in CM9 the chance is lower due to lack of official ICS support from samsung. For me, more choice is better On my previous phone (galaxy ace) CM7 is so much better than stock or modified stock rom.

"CyanogenMod 7 firmware is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with additional custom code contributed by the CyanogenMod Team. The custom portions of CyanogenMod are primarily written by Cyanogen (Steve Kondik) but include contributions from the xda-developers community (such as an improved launcher tray, dialer, and browser) and code from established open source projects (such as BusyBox in the shell)"
So I could'nt get your point, bro. It says exactly what I'm thinking it is. An Android 2.3 based custom ROM, modified by CyanogenMod Team.
My point is: If it is Android 2.3 based and we have all the drivers to Android 2.3 developed and working, why it can't be used on CM7 ROM?
What is different? The code is all rewritten? Is it being developed throught other ways?

[Q]modding roms?

Hi,
I'm kind of a noob around here.
I was wondering if it was possible to switch .apk 's between roms. What I meen is the following. I like the themes and the gallery of the democrazy-rom. Is it possible to 'take' these apk's from /system/app from the democrazy rom and putt them into system/app of an other rom (e.g. this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899615) and than flash the zip on my gio? or is it better to just flash the rom and manually move the files into system/app with es file explorer. Will it work?
thanks in advance!
why would you?
democracy is also cm7 , just like marcins

having some strange issues on democrazy-rom: sometimes unable to DISable wifi, serious wake-up lag(think it's fixed when using lagfree-governor, but drains battery like hell), sometimes gps is on but no indicator in toolbar and no signal.
Indeed, if democrazy is based on marcin, than it's useless to change .
thanks for the reply.
BTW: I think that wake-up lag is due to S2E, is better to use one of these scripts instead? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
and wich one is best for gio, main goal is to clear up internal memory without loosing smootheness?

[Q] GTalk on GB

Guys, since I have my Gio, I never had a normally working GTalk on any of the GB roms. ICS or JB works just fine, but they are still in beta stages and no such stability as GB offers. I am using Gmail and GTalk 24/24 for my work and I need these 2 elements more than anything. My issue is that GTalk alaways keeps disconecting nomatter I'm on wifi or 3g or 2g. It works a few minutes than it disconetcs, than connects back, and so on. This creates me alot of problems as I always dont get messages on time or even cant send mesages always, have to wait until it connects back. I have tried more than 7 different ROMs for our GIO and they all turn this way. Where to lok for to find a stable GTalk for my Ginger Bread roms? I am sure that this problem is common for most of GB users but not everybody pays attention but I really need this app to work stable as my work depends on it. I dont want to use trillian or other apps for GTalk. Please advice what to look for.
Thank you
BTW, where can I find Gtalk app? Is not available in Play store.
from here Talk.apk
gtalk is part of gapps.
