Hi folks I recently got the gnex and from the get go I wasn't able to connect to the mobile data network this was both pre and post update to 4.02 and rooting and unlocking bootloader when all else failed I decided to try a factory reset and that fixed the issue for me no problem since. Just sharing my experience hope it helps someone.

I had a similar issue. Wiping dalvik cache fixed it for me.

You need to request a new phone, not a replacement. Luckily mine was fixed after the first replacement, but I believe there is a policy that after 3 phones, they give you either an equivalent phone, or a brand new one, factory sealed. It's 100% hardware related, so unfortunately no software will fix it.

Force 4g to stay on, you can do so by entering this in your phone dialer *#*#4636#*#*
Go into phone information, scroll down, and select the network speed you want.

It drops all data, it's hardware related as I had the same problem. Nothing software is capable of will fix it.

I heard Google said they were gonna update this phone to 4.0.5 and it was going to fix the problem . It was suppose to be fixed for 4.0.4 but people (as of myself) have reported it still broke

I don't see how they can patch this when it is apparent it is a flawed hardware issue

Okay, I am having the same issue, but my phone is a replacement from Asurion. What should I do? Call Asurion or Verizon?

If I get this from best buy mobile and have problems with it do I have to go to best buy mobile to get replacements or can I go to a Verizon store. Sorry for the dumb question I just don't know how their affiliation works.

Try Verizon first . Best buy took me 4 phones and there still all defective !

Have you tried a new sim card? My Nexus was perfect until last week, I was dropping data constantly. I called Verizon and after speaking to a couple of techs they offered to send me a new sim. I didn't expect it to work but since activating the new sim not a single drop.

That happened to me. I called asurion. And this is my fourth and I hope last replacement.

which 4g?
LTE or Wimax?
If wimax, a simple adjustment to NAPID extensions or a reset of the dsa value may do ths trick.
Hello,
are there anybody meet the similar problem as following:
My new Galaxy nexus cannot connect data via GPRS, 3G or Edge sometimes (one time in one or two days), but phone call, SMS, and WIFI is workable as usual, meanwhile the signal bar will be grey from blue.
I can do nothing but reboot the phone, GPRS will recover after the reboot. I am really really frustrated caused by it...:crying:
Version is 4.1.1 by OTA
baseband is I9250XXLF1
I appreciate someone can pick me out of this problem.
Likely an APN issue... or you have a bad SIM. Have you tried your SIM in another device, or called your service provider?
I hv changed a new SIM, still hv the problem...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
At that time, the signal bar changed to grey, and no small arrow inside of the bar, does that mean no data connection?
its a hardware issue or system issue?
My phone is in original 4.1.1 by OTA. No root...
Are there someone can help me???

Try Restart Conections from Play Store. Maybe this can help.
.....Did u try it?
Thx, I download one from play store, hope it can help me while next accident happens.
Is it a popular problem of GN, even nexus series?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Good luck buddy. My first international nexus has an antenna hardware failure. Everything works except anything cellular. Wifi works great. At this point in time unrepairable, its being used as a $500 battery charger .

I have a Nexus, my girlfriend has a Nexus and my friend has a Nexus. We all have a connection problem that requires a phone restart in order to be fixed. We're on a different carriers. So I think it is quite a popular problem. Just my opinion.

I was swapping out my Sim card and one of the pins broke off. Has anyone had any experience sending their phone in for warranty work thru Samsung? How good/bad was your experience and how long were you without your phone? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
They were decent in my opinion, but you better get a loaner phone, because they take forever to fix it, then send it back.
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel
And don't be surprised if they want to charge you, especially since you kind of broke it...
They tried to charge me for a DOA pixel on the screen....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Ya, that's the kind of replies I figured. Thanks for the info.
How in the world did Samsung figure it was your fault for a dead pixel.....morons!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
The....guy I talked to suggested a factory reset to fix the pixel, it's really frustrating. And then you explain to them that a dead pixel is hardware related and permanent, and a factory reset couldn't be further from a solution, but they brush it off in that "hey, I work for Samsung, I know everything, now go do that factory reset" sort of tone. Maybe it was just him, but probably not...

Was off for a week and now takes forever to charge and suggestions? I have charged to to 100% a few times already during this week and still. Has anyone had the same problem? Do you think it would go back to normal?

Not The Kernel
Some extra info. The kernel is set to default settings not over clocking other that the default. And plus I flash stock and before replying kernel it was the same.

Did you try wiping cache and dalvik from recovery? If that doesn't help I would fastboot flash the stock system and boot images. You have other options after that but that is where I would start.

Yeah I did those things. Went back to stock and still charge to w crawl. But at times charges like normal though but it's all strange. Of I get it licked I'm selling it. Thanks for the reply.

I just remembered that I had to throw away a usb cable last week. Have you tried a different one? The fact that it is an intermittent problem makes me think cable or charger, something hardware related. Can't blame you for being disappointed with your N7, seems like all the Nexus tablets have been inconsistent. One of my 2012 N7's I had to RMA for an audio issue and my 2013 N7 that I preordered through Best Buy I had to exchange it the day I received it for touchscreen problems. All that said... My current N7 which I've had since the first day of release has always worked like an effing champ! Try a different cable, hopefully that will be it. Good luck!
Been running dev preview and now I got the full meal deal, but I swear battery life is worse an phone lags more. Anyone else have this experience?
I haven't noticed it on my 5X.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
Not at all. Phone runs better for me. Maybe you should try doing a factory reset.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Factory reset and give it a few battery cycles.
Maybe that's why the factory images still aren't available. Maybe Google discovered some issues. Technically anyone running N should still be in the beta program.

Always try a factory reset before assuming the worst.
