Hello,
are there anybody meet the similar problem as following:
My new Galaxy nexus cannot connect data via GPRS, 3G or Edge sometimes (one time in one or two days), but phone call, SMS, and WIFI is workable as usual, meanwhile the signal bar will be grey from blue.
I can do nothing but reboot the phone, GPRS will recover after the reboot. I am really really frustrated caused by it...:crying:
Version is 4.1.1 by OTA
baseband is I9250XXLF1
I appreciate someone can pick me out of this problem.
Likely an APN issue... or you have a bad SIM. Have you tried your SIM in another device, or called your service provider?
I hv changed a new SIM, still hv the problem...

At that time, the signal bar changed to grey, and no small arrow inside of the bar, does that mean no data connection?
its a hardware issue or system issue?
My phone is in original 4.1.1 by OTA. No root...
Are there someone can help me???

Try Restart Conections from Play Store. Maybe this can help.
.....Did u try it?
Thx, I download one from play store, hope it can help me while next accident happens.
Is it a popular problem of GN, even nexus series?

Good luck buddy. My first international nexus has an antenna hardware failure. Everything works except anything cellular. Wifi works great. At this point in time unrepairable, its being used as a $500 battery charger .

I have a Nexus, my girlfriend has a Nexus and my friend has a Nexus. We all have a connection problem that requires a phone restart in order to be fixed. We're on a different carriers. So I think it is quite a popular problem. Just my opinion.

I am currently in canada and just noticed that wifi keeps droping or at times is not strong enough. How many people are having this issue?
Is this a software issue or hardware? I am using my galaxy tab to write this up because my gnex can not connect to the wifi.

The wi-Fi radio on the GNex is weak in general but mine can still connect. Maybe you have a really defective unit.

I tried different channel's and even tested out the 5ghz band and was able to get it working by setting the frequency on the router to 38mhz.
Hey all. I’m not sure if there is a thread about this or not. If there is, MOD can you please delete it and point me to the right thread? Any ways, does anybody have any issues with the Wi-Fi on Sprint Galaxy Nexus? It won’t stream internet radio with the screen off. I use Tune In Radio and every time I turn the screen off it stops playing. It is like the Wi-Fi goes to sleep and when I turn the screen on it starts playing again. I checked the Wi-Fi sleeping policy & it is on always on. This is the second device with the same problem. I called Sprint they don’t know anything. I called Samsung and they wash their hands off of this. They told me that they don’t deal with the SW, only HW. For SW I have to contact Google. Any thoughts on this?
I thought I would share this since the problem is widespread. You might want to inform other Sprint users on other devices.
If you get texted a picture and the picture never comes this is what you can do.
1. Open "Settings" in the messaging app.
2. Turn off "Auto Retrieve".
3. Select the message that has the pic that won't come through.
4. Click "Download". Wait for a second while it downloads the picture.
5. Now turn back on "Auto Retrieve".
Hopefully Sprint will get this issue fixed.
Just checked this on VZW as well and it works. Thanks for the info

I am on WindMobile, and this workst great for me, so i do not think it is a carrier related, may be it is Android Related.
This is a good find. Next time this comes up I'm giving it a shot.
This could be an issue with CDMA networks vice Android, unless some GSM users come in and report the same problem.

I heard this is common with the nexus and that Verizon nexuses drops and there trying to fix it is that true ? And if not how can I fix this problem ! Its really starting to irritate me .

You need to request a new phone, not a replacement. Luckily mine was fixed after the first replacement, but I believe there is a policy that after 3 phones, they give you either an equivalent phone, or a brand new one, factory sealed. It's 100% hardware related, so unfortunately no software will fix it.

Force 4g to stay on, you can do so by entering this in your phone dialer *#*#4636#*#*
Go into phone information, scroll down, and select the network speed you want.

Have you tried a new sim card? My Nexus was perfect until last week, I was dropping data constantly. I called Verizon and after speaking to a couple of techs they offered to send me a new sim. I didn't expect it to work but since activating the new sim not a single drop.

That happened to me. I called asurion. And this is my fourth and I hope last replacement.

which 4g?
LTE or Wimax?
If wimax, a simple adjustment to NAPID extensions or a reset of the dsa value may do ths trick.
Alright so I have one of those dreaded releases where the signal is constantly dropping, 4g is absolutely terrible, and the signal NEVER goes above 2 bars. I live in a well covered area and should be getting full 4g all the time.
I bought the phone off Craigslist so when I first noticed the problem I went to Verizon. They told me that they couldn't help me because the phone was purchased off contract. So then I went to Samsung. They agreed to repair my phone, and after 2 weeks of not having it I finally got it back. Samsung did not fix it because it is still having the exact same problems.
So...as anybody tracked down the cause of this issue? Is it the antenna? Can I buy a new antenna and just replace it myself?
This is rather frustrating
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Is it possible that it just gets a weaker signal than your old phone?
I don't think so seeing as the service just drops out completely sometimes. Plus I've read quite a bit about other nexus owners having the exact same problem

Ah, okay, I thought it was more of a weak signal issue. Sorry about that. I would call Samsung again and request a replacement device, if at all possible.
Did you read that thread about how the Gnex calculates its signal strength? I can't remember where it is, but try searching for it. It explains how the Gnex uses a different method to calculate the amount of bars it shows, so it can show less bars for any given signal strength than another phone that uses the older method.
Following on from that, perhaps there is some mod you could make to the OS to change how it calculates the number of bars. All the files where the instructions are stored are mentioned in the post I saw. Sorry I can't remember where it is, I found a post in this forum with a link to an article on the net...

Yeah, I don't know much about it, just thought maybe might be useful.
But it just occurs to me reading the post again;
Has he tried changing his baseband? CHeck in the general forum, there's a list of all basebands with downloads
Is it running the stock rom and unrooted? When you bought it did the guy modify it in any way?
When I bought it it was on custom rom with a custom kernel and I think even a different radio. Before I sent it back to Samsung I returned it to complete stock ics which is what I'm on now
So currently unrooted with stock ics

Im not sure if I am having the same issue or not, but I live in Dallas and have plenty of coverage. Any other ATT phone I have had has never had an issue with signal. My phone shows full bars but I keep dropping data. I have to turn airplane mode on and then back off and it will fix it and I can use data again. Anybody know the fix for this? Flash a different radio maybe? I am using AOKP JB v1.
I still want to know if people think it is a problem with the antenna. Because I would say I can easily replace the antenna myself

I dropped my Galaxy Nexus yesterday and I think something is wrong with it.. or I am just very paranoid.
When I dropped my device, everything was fine.. but I noticed for pretty much the whole day, I was on the HSDPA (H or 3.5G) network. Normally, when I use my data, I am on HSPA (H+ or 4G) but I don't know what's happening...
I also noticed that the touch response/detection might be buggered up. For example, if I lightly and rapidly tap on the home button, it doesn't register them. I also noticed that I keep on getting the "Couldn't sign in. There was a problem communicating with Google servers. Try again later" error, even though I am on the internet and everything was left the same.
I am on Wind Mobile by the way and I haven't gone past 5gb of data so they shouldn't have throttled the speeds...
What's going on?? What's wrong?? I need reassurance..
I can't comment too much here but I think there's a problem with Google servers cuz I get the same login error yet I still get emails, hopefully that's fixed by morning!
Hope you get everything figured out!!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Yup that's what I just read in the nexus 7 Q&A forum, I'd post a link but I'm not on my PC.

When I did a benchmark test, the I/O came out really low. Like really really low....Not what I really expected but I still don't know if it has anything to do with the hardware... I so forgot to mention that I am on Cyanogenmod 10 nightlies.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I had problems to with the google servers and at first thought it was my Nexus but then read a lot of other people had the same problems. But the touch issue would concern me more. I would try flashing a stock rom and see if any issues persist. But hope nothing got damaged in the drop!
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda app-developers app
Could the drop also damage the signal..? What I mean is that I normally get 4G data speeds but I checked again today and I'm still on 3.5G and I had download speeds of about 0.01 Mbps and upload of 0.10...again I'm on wind mobile but this sort of thing never happens....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I just tested the touch response with my nexus 7 and it read all of the light and rapid touches... whereas I had to press to get the gnex to work.. and even when I did rapidly it still didn't detect all of them as I saw gaps where the home button animation "retreated". Anyone know what I can do...?? Am I just being paranoid??
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
OK I don't k ow why, but ever since I dropped it. The home button has been acting weird sometimes... a reboot usually fixes it but I think it has something to do with the hardware... which is weird.. but I dunno.
The things is, when I press the home button, it doesn't bring me back home. It just does its animation. The icons on the buttons flash, and the notification bar flashes... am I still covered by Google to get another device?? Please help...
