Hello,
I just bought Arc S, and I seem to have a problem, it came without memory card, and when I press to take pictures nothing happens? Is the phone incapable of taking pictures without microSD card or is it just faulty ?
P.S. I took out 1GB microSD card from my fathers old phone and phone doesnt recognize card is in it ?
Thank you for any help you could provide me !
Without SD you can't take pics on any Android phone without a build in SD/memory like on SII
Try another SD to see if it happens then, too

4 times now, when my battery has died, I get an error that the SD Card is damaged and I have to reformat it. It happens with the stock 16GB card and a Lexar 16GB class 6 card that I bought.
Any idea what's going on? It's a pain in the a$$ to recover all my pics, etc. And I'm not backing up very frequently.
Thanks!
Seems that the phone has a problem on it corrupting the mem cards. I would assume the mem cards are good and well (and also the fact you tried 2 cards already). Looks to me like a phone problem which is rare. My phone dies of lowbatt also but my memcard is still fine and has all data inside it intact.
If you can reproduce the everytime then best to have it replaced if under warranty. If not, then everytime it goes really low and you can't charge, off the phone totally until you can charge or otherwise remove the memcard to avoid it getting corrupted.
Let it check at a service point.
Mine dies when the battery is too low, too but the memory card is fine afterwards.

Used to have a similar problem with my sd card but it was a card issue("class 6, eBay, China...) as in after any boot it would show as corrupted. If you're sure it's a genuine sd card and you've no suspicions about your Rom then it's defo a hardware problem.

I bought a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone 2 years earlier. It had original 8 GB MicroSD HC with it. Some days ago my phone was not starting at all. so I tried removing the card and started there was no problem on phone. this memory card has some problem coz even any memory card reader cant detect it on PC. Now I have Samsung Galaxy SL GT-I9003 Phone and this card still doesnt work ;(
Any solution? any Idea what problem maybe or what can be done ?
So i have 2 micro sd cards one 8GB and one 32GB. I had recently just bought the 32GB one to give myself a good amount of space but unfortunately they both just stopped working all together. Basically one day my GS3 just began rejecting my 32GB card so i attempted to format it on my computer with a usb adapter, i tried both windows and mac os trying a range of programs but it just won't format. I even tried to format it using CWM but it can't mount it. but i don't think its fried because i just got it and it was working fine for like 2 - 3 weeks...so then i put my 8GB card in for 2 days and same thing...can't format or erase or mount on android...i've searched all over the web and need help cuz at this point i feel like my phone is destroying SD cards.
And one last piece on info if it helps I'm running the task AOKP 4.1.1 rom with their latest release and their latest O/C Kernel and clockwork mod touch on an AT&T Galaxy s3
please help as soon as possible

Thanks
Sometimes the manufacters advice to use just the recommended brands. I had a similar problem with a Nokia Xpress Music, and just changed the memoru for a Sony branded and it was perfectly working
I have an unlocked Rogers Samsung Captivate Glide (i927R) running gingerbread (since Kies doesn't want to update it to ICS, and I haven't gotten around to rooting it), and it seems to be eating through SD cards. I had a 32gb micro SD card in there, but the phone decided to stop reading it after about a month and a half. Nothing else can read the card either; not my computer, not another phone, not even my camera can read the card. This is the second 32gb card it's happened to, and I'm starting to think that maybe it's my phone. When I have the card in the phone, it simply says "Unavailable" when I check under storage, although the phone can still read other SD cards.
Does anyone else have problems with this phone (i927R) killing SD cards? Am I simply just overloading the SD card, or is there some possibility that the phone is burning them out? Should I go for a 16gb card and see if it doesn't burn out, since smaller cards seem less likely to burn out?
Any help is appreciated.

The last one that burned out was a Transcend, and I don't remember what the first one was. but I don't think it was a particularly high quality brand. I will be sure to get a better quality card next time.
Do you think downsizing to a 16gb card would reduce the chances of a burnout?

It's a crapshoot man ... I've had kingstons bad out of the box at a couple of sizes, the flash drives I had die were 16gb Corsair USB3's and rated with high speed..
just make sure you get a class 10 and read up on some reviews ... Newegg is really great for it, lookup the brand, price etc. and then to buy it at a local store and have them price match...
I should really get in the habit of backing up all the information on my phone more than once i run out of space
*EDIT* .. The current one I use is G.Skill 32GB .. Lifetime Warranty. Comes w/ full size SD adapter.
OK... I lost hope in any sandisk 32gb sdcard.... Just lost hope.
Something like 4 months ago, I got a brand new sandisk 32gb sdcard to use with my note2
Filled It over 16gb... BAM!!!....a dead SD card
Got it replaced with another one "also sandisk 32" and i tried filling it to test it, had 11 GB free "19gb used" and downloaded an APK file, when I was opening it, it said "file not supported" or something like that.
So I went to my files wondering why an apk isnt associated by downloads app, and I open it finding no extSdcard anymore.
Storage in settings says insert SD card, tried it in an s2 and it said empty SD card.
So please guys give me a solution. Cuz my whole life is in it. Thanks guys.
Got samsung 32gb card after similar fiasco with SanDisk.... no problems with the Sammy card
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
I was on my second Sandisk 32gb for 1 week when it also gave up the Ghost.
Ended up getting a full refund and putting that towards a Samsung 64gb.
Sammy is full to the brim of MP3's and has not missed a beat.
I think Note 2 Owners should give Sandisk Cards a Miss.
I have use a Samsung 8Gb SD Card with swap and 2nd partion for 1 year and never have a problem. You should try changing the brand, the Note II overheating issue is clearly a problem when using SD Card. The best thing you could do is be careful

Thanks guys for your replys, i really appreciate it.
my device detects it but says "empty sd card" when i format the device just goes to boot animation and starts over (atleast thats in paranoid rom, will try on sammy)
It's just that its got on my nerves, i got a refund from the first card, and i think its really a waste of time to get a second refund and a third card.
16gb (10 usable) is not enough for my use "u could call me a pig when it comes to storage " and this whole sd card thing is really pissing me off.
i use 2 roms "thanks to devil kernel" and its really hard to maintain space considering that u have to install apps on both. and when i put the sd in a card reader and want to format it, it gives me "30mb" as the disk size. i just wish 2 know whats the cause... is it sammy rom?
thanks guys anyways
Perhaps you have some partitions messed up. And the dual rom/kernel thing probably isn't setting up either storage correctly. And I think you're addicted to android. It is affecting other hardware in your life. Lol.

Thanks for ur reply, I'd repartition if I could, but unfortunately I can't access it at all.
And the dual ROM thing is a bit messed up. In aosp ROM it doesn't even detect internal SD. I have to access it through /data/media
And yes.... I'm very addicted to android
SanDisk 64GB microsdxc ..... 4 months so far and no issues.... except want more storage ....
