Don't know whether you ever got anywhere with this, but a similar question has just popped up in a Forerunner 310XT enthusiasts group on Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/128705505655/

fr225 is the 1st garmin watch that includes the hr sensor
from the hardware view, it's good enough to be "910/920xt HR" (which has run/bike/swimming function)
is there any opensource firmware can be loaded to it to make this happen?

Any news about this?

As far as I know, Garmin watches are Linux watches. Garmin does not allow to hack those:

did no one manage to hack those? For what reason? Strongly encrypted?

some times i think ... no body read!
jow ... check this side! it works ... OK ... read all PDFs about this product and discriptions. you can buy it over ebay. if a product work on the windows CE plattform and Linux too ... it works on prophet to 100%
I'm interested in this too but I can't afford it just now, can someone rich go buy it and test for us?
the eops one should def. work to some extent - if the analogue signals weren't getting switched off soon here in UK i think I'd try it.
Downsides I can immediately see are the measly 2.5hrs battery life, the fact you can only listen through headphones (or external speaker), and the size of the unit; from the pic on the site it would add considerable bulk to the prophet's size.
It also comes with a very technical accessory for attaching the TV tuner to the back of the phone
"In The Box; Velcro Tape (optionally attachable to the back of PDA)"
The warnings on the site about needing a strong TV signal are a little worrying too.

I am in ITU Discussion
Until 2015 all countries should have Digital signal (DVB-T)
after 2015 the countries can off their Analog signal.

iOS Notifications on the 360

I know I am not the only one who wants iOS notifications on the Moto360. Notifications were made capable with jailbroken iPhones onto the Galaxy Gear via "CloudNotifier" so with reasonable effort, a port to Android Wear platform should absolutely be possible.
The Moto360 is an incredibly sexy piece of hardware. I would absolutely pay for a jailbreak tweak that enabled this functionality. I'm surprised that this hasn't happened yet for the first two AW watches.
Anybody know anything about development of this?

Actually, you can already set some recipes involving iOS and Android Wear using IFTTT (dot com, dashboard, and then you explore the channels available)

EXCLUSIVE Sony Smartwatch 3 - Test Reports

These documents contain additional technical details, and internal photos of the device.
Confirmed WiFi, and full NFC communication.
Some of the images are clearly early prototypes, but this is the final report regarding it's hardware specs.
Enjoy
That would be great, but if these was made with prototypes we still can't be sure if final version has it or not.
This is so ridiculous. Come on Sony, why no one there cares talking about your own device?
They could lead the new generation of Smart watches but their silence means they probably don't care...

I agree 100%. This is the first watch that combines that whole fitness aspect with android wear. They should be getting this watch out there in the media as much as possible.
I think they must be working thru some of the new parts of the android wear update.
Isn't the SW3 wifi compatible ? I checked the white paper and I cannot see anything... :crying:
I found the answer myself ^^ document 2407959 white paper page 3

Hi. The post I put up earlier shows that Sony can't tell us whether they will update the smartwatch. Could someone find a way to confirm that the watch will be updated so that I could by one
Unfortunately until it's officially confirmed individual emails from various members of customers services are likely to say different things.
Even official posts on Twitter or other social media site still do not guarantee android 2 on the swr50.
It's just a waiting game and fingers crossed...love my watch as it is now and yes aw2 would be nice but I did not buy it with that in mind....
What I also find suspicious is that aw2 is already out in preview mode for other watch phones yet nothing for swr50.
Not a good sign....But enjoy your watch now.
No mention of Sony Smartwatch 3 in list for Wear 2.0.
http://www.theverge.com/2016/12/22/14057656/google-smartwatch-android-wear-2-0-launch
android central also posted the list, no AW2.0 for SW3..

:crying:
oh well, time to save up for something else and move on. It's been great SW3, but it looks like your time on my wrist is almost at an end. Note to self - you're not buying a watch, you're buying a phone accessory, so expect to replace it as often as your phone.
i think they will manage it somehow, why they would confirm it on twitter, support etc.

On one hand. Getting AW2.0 would be good to keep the device alive. BUT... All or most of the AW2.0 Dev Previews were for ROUND devices and the UI looks to be made around that form factor. And the SWr50 is Square... I think AW1.5 better suits SWr50 more that AW2.0.

Good point. Also, the sources that told you which devices are getting AW2.0 can't confirm anything... They can only go off what information they have. As Sony hasn't given anything, we just have to wait and see. Them not putting the SWr50 on the list is just lack of information for the time being.
I have written to Sony Support a moment ago and i'll see.

No, they added round screen lists, they didn't take square away. Square watches won't have round menus.
Zen 2 and M600 are getting 2.0, anyway.

Yeah, I think it's best to get in contact with the technical department or something because I guess the people in charge of the commercial aspect (twitter/FB) will probably say something like that " Wait for the notification to appear " even tho they don't know much about current or future firmware developing of android wear.

Exactly
Just to add my thoughts.... The sony z3 had an android 7.0 beta but was never released with sony saying it couldn't because it did not meet googles hardware rules. Specifically support for opengl 3.0 or vulkon. I wonder if its the same for the smartwaches as they will be upgraded to 7.1. I know the sw3 has opengl 2.0 but not sure what each watch on the list has.(Apart from nixon and moto sport have opengl 3.0). Any way if its not that then maybe something similar.

Any Open API wristband or smartwatch available

There are plenty of devices around, but we are lost with a simple task - how to get a device with steps, hr and sleep data accessed directly from a device?
In general we wish to find a device with a very simple developers' manual where there is a description how to get a specific data from a device using only a BT. So no additional apps need to be installed on Android, no cloud solutions sending data somewhere to USA, China and similar.
We tried:
1. Angel sensor wristband - they closed their business
2. Microsoft band 2 (they have their own app, but still..) - they abandoned the product
3. Pebble watch HR - you know the story
4. Mi band
Now we are w/o options and I really wonder:
1. Why every device maker provide their own application (usually with very low quality) which sends data to cloud? Is it:
1.1. because they analyze the data and sell it to some advertisers?
1.2. because they wish to establish Apple like - echo system? C'mon if Apple did it there is no proof that FitBit, Jawbone, Misfit or .. (put a name into it) will do it.
So my question is: is there any device with a small direct access description? We do not need an API, we just need a protocol description..
Why we need that - there are some regulations which forbid to send data somewhere w/o control (like seniorscare, eHealth, military). It is frustrated that we can support more than 100 sensors with out iotool.io smartphone IoT gateway, but no wearables
Any suggestion?

I suppose it's because a very small market. Microsoft has decided not to catch users with their bands - it shows us the value of the market for big boys.

Pebble bankrupted. It is hard to get Pebble2 HR, no support; it is a new product, so we are not aware about possible firmware bugs etc.
Xiaomi has three wristbands - all three closed. It took us 3 weeks to support one of them . With good documentation the estimated time to make our iotool.io extension for specific sensor: a few hours.

I agree, however there are hundreds of wristbands around from small manufacturers. Every wristband has its own application with rating on Google Play around 2/5. So it is possible to connect it to Android phone. But there is no documentation about comm. protocol. So wristband manufacturer made a bad application which is bad for business, but still don't wish to provide documentation. I think that is a bad decision (don't wish to use stronger words here )

Have you tried to contact manufacturers? It seems that another application for their wristband, which is delivered for free, should be interesting enough. But the problem is to find a proper person, who has some motivation for supporting such offers. Most chinese manufacturers are screened with relatively dumb marketing stuff and their internal bureaucracy is horrible. Aliexpress sellers sometime can provide some pieces of documentation, but it's in chinese and not complete. However, googletranslate can help to get some protocol details. Also it is useful to reverse engineer their applications, but it's very time consuming. Another problem here - how to chose a device without any idea about it's sensors quality and even about the presence of some sensors that often are just virtual things and only able to load some trash from internet.
But if you are a paid worker of iotool.io then may be it is possible to convince your boss to spend some money on a serious screening of at least some manufacturers. Some bracelets are very cheap (5$) and in case of presence of a good application the market share can be very big.
Thank you for your help. I'm a CEO of SenLab, maker od IoTool. And believe me, we invested a lot of resources into that. But, there is no real support, firmware change, models change and similar. It is not possible to support this. And, we do not wish to invest into every wristband, but to ask big players, what is in their mind? Some of applications from big and well known providers are rated around 2 on Google Play. No one wish to use them, but big players are stubborn and just follow their route.

In my opinion if you have enough resources then finding a responsible manufacturer is absolutely possible. Of course, it wouldn't be a big company, but there could be a good and cheap product that requires just a better application. However, I don't know your business strategy and may be such approach is not for you.

Big boys work as follows:
They look at the market, they see a successful company, they copy the company's strategy and don't care about anything else. If anybody want to convince big boys to do something then most probably they think the person wants a free lunch and just ignore him. So, you need some connections within the company or you need a well known name for them to listen to you. And it means just one thing - only small and medium sized companies can be targeted by you (if you haven't connections, of course). But you don't want to invest into every wristband, so, there's nobody left for you - big boys won't listen to you and you won't ask some little boys.
Also the logging strategy of iotool.io is not very convenient for many people. People mostly don't want just a logging of some data from some sensors. They want something more useful, like heart rate monitor or calories calculation. Sensor set is just a way to provide the final product - the really needed in real life. Good sensor set can provide better final product, but the task of deciphering of some useful conclusions from logged data is not for the majority of people. So, you need to connect the logged data with people's needs. And while there's no such connection your product will catch only the small market of enthusiast users.
