I've recently purchased a Nexus 7 (2013) tablet and it turned out to be all faulty - it constantly reboots and the home button doesn't work. Within the next 2 days that I'm staying in the US I have to make a decision whether to return the device to Google (because returning it from my part of the world would cost more than the nexus itself). But prior to that I'd like to update it to see if it fixes the issues. My device's build number is JWR66N but I've heard that the latest build is JSS15R. Going to settings and checking for updates manually doesn't show any OS updates available and the OS says it is up to date. How do I update the device from JWR66N to JSS15R forcibly? Thanks in advance.
Try to clear data of download manager, Google services framework and reboot. Do that 1-3 times and you should get notification about ota.

Thank you, Muikkuman, this helped to detect the update.
I had mine rooted and it prompted an update but when I reboot to install, it brought me to twrp recovery. Any idea how to I bypass that?

Anybody?
Just download the OTA manually, place on your virtual sdcard, and choose install in TWRP.

tried with no luck?
I tried your recommendation several times with no luck, I am still stuck on JWR66N. Do you have any other thoughts as to how to get this update on my tablet?
Thanks!

Not sure what you tried or what problems you ran into.
If you want to force JSS15R onto your tablet I would suggest this:

Hey guys. I have a quick question, hopefully somebody can help me out. I tried to de-bloat my Galaxy Note 2 (T-mobile) thanks to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507931
After I used the script and my phone reseted, I got a message saying "Updating apps" or something like that, and it seemed to update about 150 apps. The point of the scripts on that thread are so all the bloatware that the phone brings can be eliminated, but after the update completes I still got all the bloatware there. Can anybody help me out with this please?

Debloater will remove the apps from /system. The problem is, if the apps were updated from the market, they will still reside in /data/app. You will also have to delete them from there.
I have rooted, and I have xposed installed.
What is the upgrade procedure? Do I need to go so far as to remove root? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!

Got this just now...but don't wanna lose root. The notification is annoying as hell. I would flash and update if it won't bork everything but I'd settle for just getting rid of the notification. Anybody know how to get rid of it??

When I long press, I see "App Info" and when I press it, it shows Google Play Services.
When it is disabled, does the update go away, or is it still on my G3 waiting to be installed?
Anyone know how this happened? I'm rooted, with custom everything, and I have OTA updates disabled!
I'm doing a TWERP backup anyway.
Anyone that has installed the update - did you get root back?

I can't be certain, but I think there was a few more apps in the app drawer before I unlocked the bootloader. Update might have been one of them. Can't really say, I had the phone less than thirty minutes before I unlocked it and put twrp on it.
Then I flashed a modified boot.img that did not have "fileencrytion" on the fstab. And formatted /data to remove the encryption( this made developer option crash when I tried to open it, so I reflashed the stock boot.img)
Maybe that broke something.
I just read yesterday a post in other thread that said after a backup they were missing the "cust" partition and that was why they was missing. The update app
RSGI said:
Thanks man. *****
That was exactly what was missing to get this piece of junk to work again!!!!
i've nottest that this backup is missing some apps that i had on the stock rom, like the health app, huawei account and services and software update....
No big deal, perhaps the software update app bothers me a bit... maybe i'll find it somewhere...
After using this quiet confusing unbrick method, restored with your update and voila... it works
Back to where i started, the internal storage is encrypted again.... This really bothers me...
Thank you again!

Code:
adb shell pm list packages -f > "C:\android\Honor 7x\packages-list.txt"
Also please show what is mounted please.
Code:
adb shell mount > "C:\android\Honor 7x\mount-list.txt"

Check it did not enrol you as a tester in the play store, you can opt out
Or install a full APK from apkmirror.com

You need to be rooted then install root explorer go to system/apps and uninstall the apk that way.

App not installed usually means there is already an app with that package name installed, check to see you haven't still got another version of SC installed
