I'm posting here because more often than not I am running T-Mobile roms. Anyhow, last night I heard about some update/patch att was releasing for 727. So I flashed my nandroid that I had created right after originally rooting my device, so totally stock att rom (with ciq). I then manually checked for update, accepted update, and delayed 1 hour. I spent the next hour flashing stock recovery and searching frantically; to no avail, for said update package on all SD cards. After 1 hour update took place without a problem, although I read many others update attempt had failed. Now with update complete I have new 'ICS style' lockscreen, no ciq (yes att removed), baseband is now I727UCLA3 & build number is 'GINGERBREAD.UCLA3'. So nothing weird yet, however...when I checked my APN out of curiosity I see regular 'ATT PTA', then a 'TETHERING
pcweb.tmobile.com'...
wtf. Is this what is normally listed for T-Mobile tethering apn?
Will post screenshot later.

The leaked ODIN package is 2.3.6. But numerous news said the update is 2.3.5. People have been having doubts whether the ODIN package is "official" or not.
So whoever updated through the "official" channels (Kies, OTA), could you please confirm whether you got a 2.3.5 or 2.3.6?
I updated through Kies.
I updated through odin. Its official as it gets.

I see. So our leaked ODIN package is indeed "official".
I also updates thru kies and have 2.3.6

So now Im wondering if those that got the OTA are on 2.3.5? How could it be possible that there are 2 different updates?
I got it OTA and it's 2.3.6

Kies Update lost Root
Called TMobile and they sent me an update Kies file to install on my PC to have wifi calling enabled. They turned it on at their servers, so I would be enabled, but I told them I was not running stock rom so they sent an update. Installed the update. PC ran and said new firmware upgrade for my phone. It stated Ver 11.12.16.02 during the install.
Anyways, I now have the WiFi calling familiar icon top left notification area, but root is lost. Just want to know if anyone else has the WiFi calling enabled or not without issues. This is or was on Juggernaut 3.7. Can't boot to recovery now. I will wait to hear back from others.
You are brave for tellig them you rooted your phobe. Yes it removes root and gives you stock recovery. Youll have to reroot and install custom recovery again.

Do I really need it?
I just finished setting up my phone just right and now this update comes along. Used titanium BU to freeze device manager to stop the update. I used to have wifi calling on my Nexus 1 but I never used it. Is there any other reason why I shouldn't skip this update?

The new baseband does improve my data speed, before 8- 10 mbps, now 15 - 18 mbps. Home button responses quicker, no more accidentally launch voice search. Overall the ROM is more snappy than before. I still try to see if improve the battery life.

Is there anyway to update without losing root? Can the 2.3.6 ota update still be routed?

Too many users worry they will not have any support if their phones are rooted. I have a rooted Nexus one. It had bad hardware Nand. Bad memory blocks in my system and Data and cache partitions. I sent it back rooted, but with stock ROM stuff, to HTC. HTC RMA's my rooted phone. They have to show cause and effect that rooting did any damage etc. TMobile techs were nice. They were happy to send me the info to grab this stuff manually. And by stating I was rooted, that pushed me up the chain to higher level tech support instead of dealing with robots reading scripts, telling you to reboot your phone, or to try such and such etc.

I actually had 18.2 with Speedtest this morning using Beastmod 4.1, before I ran into my manually upgrading the firmware and losing root. All is fine now with a 5 minute re-root process using Odin and PDA option with CWM. Not a big deal but yes, using those XDA individual files could have save me some grief on this
So depending on how good of a signal you have, and the ROM itself, I did show fantastic PRE-Updateing the firmware. These were consistent 15.5-18.2 reading BTW, here in Downtown Las Vegas this morning. Not just a one time anomaly.
2.3.6 via kies working well.
Alright folks, bear with me here...this one is odd because I've searched and all the SG3 references for 4.1.2. are custom ROM's. I was having some wonky issues with my Stock Rooted SG3 so I rolled it all the way back using the STOCK ICS version of the SG3 ROM for LP710. After I rolled it back...I freaked out because although the phone was fine, calls could be made, texts came in and all other functionality was good, however, I was getting a "SIM CARD NOT FOUND" message on my notification pane constantly. I was worried I had taken the stock ROM for the wrong carrier.
Instead of flashing it to the newest JB version of the sprint stock ROM...I chose to let it take the updates, see what happens. All in all I believe the phone took 4-5 updates total...and when it was all said and done, about halfway through the updates the sim card issue was gone. But then after I rooted it...I was using it a few hours and I realized some things just seemed different. So i grabbed my wifes SG3...completely stock non rooted phone. I noticed FIRST off that her version of JB was 4.1.1 and MY version is 4.1.2.
Did I miss something? What is Sprints latest ROM version for our SG3's? I've tried updating HER phone and it says it's "UP TO DATE" on ver. 4.1. What gives, anyone know what's up?
***EDIT*** I DID find some mention of 4.1.2 showing up on some Sprint users in diff. locations, but if I got it, why has my wife's phone not gotten it. Anyone else seeing this in Az. or otherwise? I also loaded up Kies and it says "your devices current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies." WTH? All the updates were OTA updates...

The latest version of SG3 for Sprint is MB1 (v4.1.2). I don't really have a good answer to why your wife's phone hasn't been getting the OTA updates (there have been 2 since LJ7: MA6 and MB1). If I recall correctly, MA6 was the one that brought you up to 4.1.2.
If you want to bring your wife's phone up-to-date, you can always flash the "purely stock files" over on Freeza's thread. You'd have to flash the updates starting at her version and each subsequent one (i.e. LJ7_to_MA6 before flashing MA6_to_MB1).
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the speedy response topherk. Well, I figured it had to be legitimate and I saw updates behave this way back when I was on my EVO....but it not being supported in Kies kind of worries me.
My wifes gs3 has yet to get the update either. As far as the sim card issue i know that was a probably a while back with rooting, haven't seen much on the issue in 3-4 months.

Interesting...worth noting is that although my version is 4.1.2, I don't seem to have the reported functionality (such as multi view page buddy, etc) and a few other things. ?????

There is no multiview for the Sprint S3 in 4.1.2. You will have to waitnuntil we get 4.2.

Ahh, ok Kenny, thanks good to know... I guess I'll just hang out with this build for a while and see what gives. I noticed that when I have the keyboard up, i can tap the T/Pencil icon and I can spell like on a tablet w/stylus. I don't remember being able to do that before. (reminds me of Palm O.S. although the Palm writing style doesn't work here)
I have already looked here and on Google, but I have not been able to find the right update for me. I am on 4.1.1 rooted and I already tried to flash the stock 4.1.2 update and it didn't work. I'm not sure if it matters but I have the I317UCALJ2 baseband on my AT&T Note 2 and I did the mod to carrier unlock it and to be able to use the AWS bands on it. I don't want to wipe all my info, but I also want to be able to update somehow.
After doing some more research I've found that the update order I have to follow is I317UCALL1 > I317UCAMA4 > I317UCAMC3 according to this http://www.att.com/esupport/softwareUpdateArticle.jsp?sid=KB418382&cv=820#fbid=6HHfk80HyVy but since I'm not using AT&T I'm not able to download the files and I can't find them online either. I'm not using the stock recovery which might be an issue too I'm assuming. I have the root keeper app which I can use in case I loose root so I don't mind that. Does any one have the files or links?
According to that page I found on AT&T's sire the first update I need is 179MB and I've downloaded a zip file that is 178MB and it claims to update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 but when I go to the system folder in the update zip there is a text file called CSCVersion.txt and the only thing in it is I317ATTALK7. Is that the supposed to be the baseband version or something else? I might just make a backup and try it.
Just remove root as outlined in the "return to stock" thread. .. (it's a sticky thread)...
Once root is removed. ..take the ATT factory update via OTA...
Once completed. ..you can simply root again using CF auto root...and done. ..
Baseband changes are easy. ..after you have updated and rooted again. ..
The process is simple. .and after reading your posts. ..it's clear that you are over complicating the process. .
Take your time reading the return to stock. ..as you are half way there already. ..
It's literally a 20 minute process once you read the steps and get ready. ..g

So my phone should be able to find the ota even though I'm not on at&T's network? Because it doesn't even without root. When I go to check for updates I get a message saying I'm up to date. I don't mind having to delete all the info from the phone since I can use Titanium backup but I don't know if I would get the OTA update if i'm not on AT&T's network, I'm currently on a prepaid network and from what I understand the update is downloaded from AT&T's servers.
I recently had to downgrade my rom so I could use of of the unlocking methods I found here on xda. I went over to sammobile and downloaded the appropriate rom ( android 4.1) for my carrier and phone, I flashed it using mobile odin, turns out it was a rom for a rogers phone even thought the description and even the file ended with BMC and not RWC which indicated it was for bell, any case I unlocked the phone all went back an restored the system image from cwm all was fine till about 24 hours ago when my phone started acting up very glitchy and i decided it was time to to a full clean up and resort the stock rom. I again mobile odin to flash stock but for what ever reason the apps being loded on to the phone are for rogers carrier. I am using I317MVLBMA3_I317MOYABMA3_BMC which by all indication tells me its for bell, so what the hell is going on ? I have downloaded this and flashed it both from mobile odin and from my pc and ever time its a rogers rom. any help would be great.
They're the same roms. All Canadian versions are the same except the system carrier apps included. Your glitches probably happened from something else. Is there any app that you've installed in the last 24 hours or have you done something unusual on your phone in the last 24 hours?

they are for the most part the same roms with minor differences for instance the rogers rom displays a 4g icon where as the bell displays a HSDPA icon or something lol, and also the carrier bloatware is not the same bell has its own bloat, even the browser launches to rogers website. I even removed the bloat with titanium and when i flashed the new rom it came right back so i have no idea why this ghost apk files are coming from.
update, I downloaded the telus firmware and tried to flash that with odin, flashed fine but rogers apps are still there. can not return to bell stock firmware, any help would be great.
Download csc changer from play and set it for bmc whats funny is mine is rogers but when I flash it I get all bell stuff

worked out great thanks a lot man, I was racking my brain why this was not working.
My phone is unlocked and using a MetroPCS sim card, so I couldn't get the OTA update, even on Wifi. After following the instructions at [Download][Install] 4.3 OTA Update, I no longer have data connection on the phone unless I use wifi.
From what I've read, this usually happens because a modem wasn't flashed, but I assumed that the 4.3 update in that thread had a modem. Even so, I entered stock recovery and flashed the modem from the hidden part of Loserskater's post here. But I still have no data.
Does anyone have any ideas what went wrong or what I can do next? I don't mind rooting if that's what I have to do (I plan on it anyway, but didn't know if I should work on getting data first).
Thanks

it could be that, you mixed a leaked modem with a different build thus messing with the final official build or update that ATT released last week
wipe everything if thats possible then download the 4.3 firmware from this link http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291680243 and since you are on stock just download it using odin (use this link if you have no idea of how to use odin) http://droidow.com/galaxy-s3-i747-update-with-ucuemj2-android-4-3-leaked/ but on the PDA part use the file you download from the link above (update43.zip) and that will fix your problems
this may or may not work, i have not tested as i have not updated to 4.3 am waiting for devs to update their roms to 4.3 and then i can go with 4.3/rooting
follow instructions carefully since 4.3 for the S3 is like a virus, this update just leads to HARD BRICKS but dont worry just do everything right and things will be fine
hope you have i747 = ATT not i747m = CANADIANS variants

After hunting through all the settings options, I found that I had nothing in the Access Point Names menu under Mobile Networks. I think because I updated with a Metro-PCS sim card in the phone, rather than an ATT one, for whatever reason I didn't get any APN settings.
So after hunting down T-Mobile's and writing them in, I now have Data. Phew!
