[Q] sebastian15's Runnymede AIO isn't working - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried Runnymede AIO from sebastian15, but always I flash this ROM it freezes after few minutes from boot then I have to take out battery. After that phone boots normally and after few minutes freezes again. I've tried to flash different versions (5.0.4; 6.0.5; 6.5) of this rom on different hboots (CM7/r2 and then stock)
and via various recoveries (cwm and 4ext classic and touch), tried many combination of options in Aroma Installer but without any result.
I would like to change my rom for a while (juts got bored with cm7) and few weeks ago this rom was working right.
Thanks a lot for any help.

I suppose it freezes before you restored any apps and/or settings, right?
In this case, my first thought is there might be something with your SD card.
Maybe try to repartion it or try a different one?

Are you using the A2SDX version or the generic?
Because if you use the first one, let the rom settle (only set up basics screen) the reboot before doing anything.
This way it worked for me.

i used the rom also for some time and was very happy with it, if u fallow the instructions from first page must work. make sure your partitions are formatted as suppose to be, and be careful when restore applications, especially with Titanium Backup, restore only user applications, do not overwrite system applications.
version 6.0.4 and 6.0.5 i found them very stable releases and great rom.
sebastian have some very good tutorials with all steps of instalation, if you fallow it suppose to be ok. do not forget to format all partitions excepts fat32 one before you install.
good luck and give us some feedback

Thanks for answers I'll try repertition my SD card.
P. S. I've tried generic a2sd and ad2sdx as well. And i hadn't done any changes (restoring apps, adding new accounts etc.).

Sounds like the ROM file you've downloaded is corrupt. Do you check MD5sum?

i've checked md5 sum ofc and repartitioning sd card didn't help so I'm waiting for stable cm9 or maybe some rom based on ics with sense. Anyway thanks for trying to help me. I won't download AIO.

You can try [ROM][20.02.12][★★ SMS ★★ ] by ★ RSK TEAM ★ with AMAZE CAM [v.5.0][CM7R2][STOCK]
It is a sense 3.5 same as sebastian one, very fast and stable, i use it since 3 days and i love it.
I use a hboot with a generic a2sd, rom is not that big and remain with 100+ mb internal memory.

Bad question, maybe, but did you do a full wipe?
I tried the rom, worked for me but i wasn't satisfied with speed. Try RSK team rom mentioned in previous post, I'm using it having no problems (but use generic a2sd and don't try fix wallpaper view in panel mode you will get more trouble than you can compensate with the view).
You can also try Cool 3D Runnymede, but you will have to flash RC tweaks separately.

Yup full wipe is necessary and I know it. Thanks [ROM][20.02.12][★★ SMS ★★ ] by ★ RSK TEAM ★ with AMAZE CAM [v.5.0][CM7R2][STOCK] works good.

[Q] Fastest and most stable ROM

Hello,
I'm under the MIUI XJ ROM for almost 6 months now, and am getting more and more pissed off with my Desire lagging, freezing and such. I do not know if I installed it wrong (though I do not think I did), I cleaned it several time, updated it, etc. I slowly realized I barely used any functionnality provided by the ROM, and would like to change for another ROM.
What I am looking for is, most of all, a FAST rom, reactive, and stable. I'm tired of freezes, slow interfaces and such, I just want it to react immediatly. Of course, any other interesting feature or functionnality would be highly welcome, but it's for fastness and responsiveness I'm looking after the most.
So, any advices concerning such ROMS ? I heard and read about Oxygen, would this one comply with what I'm looking for ?
Thanks.
Yup, Oxygen is a very fast and smooth rom, so is Cyanogenmod 7.x. They are both based on the stock version of Android (AOSP), so no extra's like the Sense UI. If you want speed and smoothness, you should try one of these two.
I personally think it lacks some sweet widgets and UI elements. Of course you can solve that with installing another Launcher, widget packs etc. I guess its me being lazy that is the problem here.
If you want a fast sense-based rom, I recommend trying the Revolution 3.0 rom by tamirda. Ive been using it for quite a while now and havent experienced a single lag. Its a great combination of both speed and the Sense UI.

Thanks for the answer, those look indeed really interesting. I might start with the Revolution 3.0 ROM, I hope installation instruction are clear, since I'm really not familiar with flashing (that's why I still did not change ROM for 6 months...).
oxygen
I find oxygen 2.3.1 the best. Battery is lasting 2 days with it.

Youre welcome! Dont forget to hit the thanks button ;-)
And flashing is really easy, just:
1) Download the rom and put it on your SD card (A2SD version, not the Data++ as I assume you still have the stock hboot)
2) Reboot into recovery
3) Wipe data / factory reset
4) Install zip from sd > select rom to install it
5) Reboot and enjoy. First boot may take a while..

Concerning backups, what do you advise me to use/do ? I currently use the D2EXT version of the MIUI XJ rom.

Well in my knowledge, these two are two different things. A backup is just a backup of your current rom and D2EXT is a method of creating more data for your apps, by storing them on your SD ext partition (correct me if im wrong).
In your case, you should backup your current rom, so you can switch back to your current setup when you dont like your new one. This is usually done by selecting backup (backup & restore > backup in clockworkmod) in the recovery menu. The backup images will be saved to your SD card. To restore your backup, simply select restoren in the same menu.
If you want to keep your apps + app data (which I guess you want), I recommend using Titanium Backup.

Indeed, these are different, I was just noting I am using the D2EXT version because maybe it could change the way to back things up.
Anyway, thank you, I was indeed thinking about using TitaniumBackup for my apps, did the error not backing things up properly one time, I won't do it a second time.
I was a long time user of Insertcoin sense roms but found it slowing on me. I went to a Sense 3.5 ROM and it was terrible, very laggy. I'm not a fan of the stock look like CM7 offers but found a ROM based on Oxygen that has an ICS look applied and it is BRILLIANT!! It is called Mildwild and is available here in XDA. Amazingly fast ROM, stable and looks very very nice.

+1 for CM7. I've been using it for a long time now and I can say that it's very fast/stable.
I have no experience with Oxygen with I do hear nothing but good things.

Boot Manager Discussion

I was hoping to get some discussion started about Boot Manager. One thing I would like to know is what roms have others successfully installed to a slot. I would also like to hear any tips or tricks. I have found this app to be frustrating, love the idea of it though. So lets get this going and help each other out, sure I'm not the only one that likes the idea of this app but have been frustrated with it at times. Thanks
Boot Manager always asks if I want to install a slot as ext2 or ext4 but it seems I'm currently running ext3. Now what?
I use ext2 usually works better also select use large boot image almost all aosp roms work fine sense roms seem more picky with bm but most work fine.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
Which sense roms have you had work in a slot. I have tried Mikrunny, Skyraider Zeus and TSM Vanilla. They all work as a phone rom, have gotten them all to successfully install to a slot but none will boot.
I used to use skyraider in a slot but had it as phone rom an made a backup of it an restored the backup to a rom slot an it worked fine.I run magnolia from a slot without any problems.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
Thanks RRF12, using ext 2 as you suggested I was finally able to get Skyraider Zeus and MikRunny to install and boot from a slot. Starting to like this app now. I never gave the custom sense roms much of a chance, that is why I wanted to use this app, thought I would keep them on the phone longer and play with them more.
I have tried several times to flash Areoevans new ICS kernel using boot manager and it is not working, any ideas.
Edit: Figured it out, must be you can't flash a new kernel to the slot you are currently using. I booted into a different slot and then successfully flashed the new kernel to the slot with ICS rom.
Woot! I finally got a ROM to boot in a slot. Checking large boot image did it.
Something else I have noticed that seems to work is to flash roms, kernels and other zip files to the slot roms when you're booted into the phone rom not another slot rom.
anyone using SD booster? What settings do you use?
How about MIUI roms? I can't get them to get DATA working if they are in a slot, but if I flash them in the phone rom, I get data working?

This app will let you dual boot your phone, correct? Was thinking of installing it so I can test different ROM's and not always have to re-install is I don't like a new ROM.
It gives you four ROM slots in addition to your main (phone) ROM. Pretty slick when it works. I couldn't get MikRunny to work in a slot. Each loaded slot takes 2GB of space on the SDCard.
This works great for almost all AOSP ROMs but haven't had any luck with sense ROMS at all.... which sucks because flashing a phone rom isn't really using boot manager its using your phone. Being able to boot a sense from from one of the slots is what matters and nothing appears to boot that has sense. I am able to use Aeroevans ICS roms flawlessly though.
I have yet to get a rom to work with this app... When I try to install a zip(rom) all I get is a message that there is an error building the boot.image.
I get this on all the roms I have tried. I have large boot image checked...
If I could sell this app to someone, I would ... Waste of money if you asked me.

I was having lots of issues, but finally found success.
Make sure large boot image is checked, which looks like you have
disable logging in super-user app under preferences
Check keep screen on during install
use ext 2 for sense roms.
I have succeded when flashing a rom to the phone rom, making a nandroid and then restoring said nandroid to a slot.
If you can get the logs emailed to init2winit, they have always been pretty quick with help.
I have sucessfully booted Coredroid, Condemned sense, condemned cm 7.2, MIUI 4.0 (old miui works without data in a slot), couple ICS roms, Vivow milestone 3 & TSM Bullet.

Thanks for the input.
I did finally get CM7 to install into slot one... So I booted into it. Then when I tried to download Boot Manager to CM7 from the market, I kept getting error messages from the market and was unable to download Boot Manager (or any other app) so I ended up going to recovery and flashed back to my Backup of CM9... I think I'm going to give up on this app for a while again
You don't have to flash back with boot manager if you have your phone rom setup just boot into recovery an install your zip of phone rom will be under boot manager.I use bm all the time most everything works except a lot of sense rooms which I don't use anyway.

Low internal memory - Driving me mad!

All,
First of all I want to say that I am a newbie but I am a long time lurker. I have read all about Data 2 sd and A2sd and all the rest of it.
I have an sd card with a FAT32 format and EXT4 format.
I have tried my best to follow the supernova tutorial ( http://supernova.droidzone.in/?cat=6 ) and it is really pissing me off at this stage as it does not work for me.
I have flashed with leedroid rom, the internal memory got better but data2sd did not work and now the rom is crashing. It has to go.
I just want to get this right as I have tried for months and it is coming to the stage where the phone has to go.
I have S-on and I will not be turning it off, fully rooted etc.
I can run cyanogenmod7 but I have a sense rom and so this is my quiff!
Please please please, can someone help me. I have installed lots of files and I want to start fresh. All I want is to install apps...that is all!!!!
Thank,
Alan

So to use this you should download nad flash/install via recovery the CyanogenMod 7.1 rom and Gapps package (to have Market installed because it's not included in rom). After that you need to read this thread and have fun with unlimited internal storage.
edit: links from thread about int2sd aren't working so I'll give you mine from dropbox (just wait about 15 mins when I'm uploadnig them).
When you have CM7 and gapps installed you need to flash first INT2SD2-update.zip it will prepare cm7 for getting int2sd and then you should flash CM7-stable-INT2SD2.zip

Thanks a million! It works on Cyanogen med 7 for me and everything runs stable on this rom. This is my 2nd place rom if all else fails!
However, I want a sense rom with data2sd/2ext ....basically lots of internal memory.
I have done a full wipe
Installed leedroid 3.3
started the rom, let it load.....memort 22mb
went into recovery
flashed data2sd
tried to restart but it wont, it is stuck on the htc logo and I had to restore it.
The Leedroid rom works perfectly on its on as does the supernova rom but when i try and install data2sd it does not work or the phone will not boot up.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know

there's an FAQ for that Leedroid rom which i found very useful.
to maximise space you can use data++ version, cm7r2 hboot, and dalvik to sd, all explained on that link
it's not data2sd, and it won't seem like you're internal memory has gone up, but it's plenty of space for apps trust me. i had something close to ~140 apps with 130MB still free on internal before i switched ROMs. that free space would only get used up slowly by app data
if you do it this method, keep apps on 'internal', no need to 'move to SD', it'll keep them to the partition this way.

[help] Problems flashing ROMs

Hi.
My girlfriend is really fed up with the low amount of memory on her Wildfire S, so I've decided to help I've spent large portions of today and yesterday on:
unlocking the bootloader (using htcdev.com),
rooting (using SuperOneClick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682),
partitioning her microSD (kingston 4 GB, class 2, fat32 + 1GB EXT4 + 256 Swap if I remember correctly),
installing recovery (installed ROMManager and flashed CWM recovery from there)
and experimenting with ROMs.
The problem is that I can't get the ROMs to boot.
I've tried:
1. m1ndh4x8r GB2.3.5 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432259 both odexed and deodexed - bootloop on the white HTC logo
2. Wildfire S Cracker GB2.3.5 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1479002 - waited almost 30 minutes for the HTC logo to disappear and boot animation to start, but that never happened.
3. HenseMod 6 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434497 - the only ROM that managed to boot without problems. However I need all the HTC widgets, so I'm intending to switch to a different one.
I've also tried staying with the stock ROM and flashing a different kernel (OC Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430677) so that link2SD would work with EXT4, but that didn't boot also.
Does anyone here have any idea what could be the source of all these problems? Maybe you could suggest something? A different Sense ROM, some "procedure" that could help me.
Please, I just want her to be happy
Cheers!
Sound's like a Kernel Panic. I dont know how to solve it. But I had a great Sense rom this worked for me.
Here you are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359727
I hope this will fix the Problem, and it's a really great rom.
before you flash the rom,did you wipe data and wipe cache, and what is the version of your recovery?you need use the newest 5.028 is better.

I always wipe data, cache and dalvik, just in case.
I can't check it now, but I installed Rom Manager just yesterday so I assume, that it flashes the latest version of the recovery.
I'll be able to experiment more on Wednesday. I'll try different roms, maybe the same roms, but immediately flash different kernel etc.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks
I have the MetroPCS version of the WFS that I've been messing with. I got the bootloader unlocked, I got it rooted, and I got S-off (without xtc clip).
When I try to flash cm7, it throws up an error and won't install. I tried m1ndh4x8r sense 3.5 and it 'worked' except com.Android.phone kept fc'ing making it unusable. wifi also didn't work. I'd like to have sense 3.5 but would also like cm7. i also tried the cm9 roms but they don't want to install either. Is there a ROM that has both (cm7 and sense) that's stable with working wifi? I'm not using the phone for calling, just messing with mods and such but may activate it at some point if I find a suitable ROM for it.

[Q] Infinite bootloop with all Roms

Hi guys, i have a problem:
I last installed successfuly CM 7.2, cwm backed it up and havent changed it in a long time... Now i tried recently, within half a year to install various other roms but allways ended in a bootloop. All have installed ok, but all end the same. I can restore cwm backup w/o problem, but cant install any rom so far.
I tried so many combinations of wipes, from the most common data/cache/dalvik then also including mounts & storage wipes, flashing cwm 5...
I have wildfire 2.3.7 atm, cm7.2 stable, gps doesnt work(cm7.2 issue). Memory card is not partitioned, but i have it custom std on 130/15, maybe thats the issue...?
Also kernel is 3.0.0.6. If i flash it to 5+, it allways comes back to 3.0.0.6 later. Tried flashing to 5+ and then repeating install process, but no effect.
I can allways come back to cwm backup latest image that works flawllesly, but cant install any rom and go past bootloop. Tried many:

Odp: [Q] Infinite bootloop with all Roms
Firstly, try to delete mtd. Secondly install sense rom like rem puzzle. It is compatibile with cwm 3 so should work. Before installing make ext partition. If it won't help then try to make s-on and flash ruu and you will get not rooted phone with stock rom.

The problem is custom mtd. Your partition space is too low for most roms.
Secondly, gps issue is related to radio. Reflash the radio and it will work.

First thx for the quick replies to both.
Delete mtd, is it enough just to delete mtd.txt and bravo.zips, or i need to do smtn else as well?
Is any of the roms i mentioned sense based? I dont want to unroot phone, if at all avoidable. Ill try doing what i described and installing rempuzzle.

Read HERE
From what the thread...
" Reverting back to Stock
- Formatting all the 3 partitions. (i.e. /cache, /data, and /system)
- You will then need to flash a "Stock" Clockworkmod Recovery Image. Links (and procedure to flash) available in the Index Thread "
Index Thread can be found HERE

Just flash a stock recovery as mentioned by GlennBrownie, format the 3 partitions and flash the rom you want. For rempuzzle, ext partition is a must.

Well, managed to flash stock, root&unlock again. rempuzzle didnt work for me. but now i can finaly flash some roms! Thx guys!
Now another q: i can flash & boot some ics roms as well as gb, but on all ics i got a bug where i cant import .vcf files through go contacts.
Examples are:
aokp_buzz_milestone-6-remake
Xperia_Lovin_Ice_Cream_V1.1
AOKP Light
and few others. No such problems on KoolSony-HD V2.1 and probably other gb roms. Is it solvable? I would LOVE to use ics roms, but wont give up go contacts, cant settle for any other app. I CAN import vcf through people system app, but it would be painful to do it every time, as i frequently backup and restore contacts.
Staying on KoolSony-HD V2.1 till then, or till someone makes bugless ics rom. If you guys dont have any solution of course?
EDIT: solved, just installed Go Contacts Ex, the roms were ok after all. But another q, why is there no option for choosing input methok(keyboard) in ics? it was there in gb?

The easiest way of managing contacts is to sync it with google. That way everytime you install a new rom and add your google account, it will automatically sync your contacts.

Input method can be changed with long pressing text field.
You have to write something for these options to appear. Never tried Aokp light though.

To change input method, just click on empty text box,let the keyboard appear and then pull the statusbar down. There you'll see an option to change input method.
And when you long press a text box,all those options do appear. There are symbols instead of text.See upper part of the screen once you long press it.
