Hi guys if I'm coming from arconium(I made a backup) and I already flashed the CM9 by FXP can I just simply restore my arconium rom if ever I want to go back again? Or it has something to do with the kernel? Thanks!
First you have to flash DooMKernel again and then you can restore your backup.

Hi all,
I was wondering if there was any danger of restoring my stock 2.3.3 nandroid I made before I flashed an ICS (AOKPlay) ROM? Will it restore the original kernel and everything as well? The GB experience on the R800x vs ICS to me is much better.
Thanks!
EDIT: Answered my own question. Thanks anyway. Mods can close!
I tried this and it didn't turn out very well, lol! I think it has something to do with the very different frameworks of Cyanogen and Sony
Try flashing the orginal kernel first, factory reset thru CWM along with wiping cache partition, dalvik cache, and battery stats. Then restore the Nandroid Backup. Worked for me, hope it works for you.
Push comes to shove, you may have to use Flashtool to restore the original, stock, ROM and then root it and all that pretty stuff. This is what I did because I wasn't at my home computer with all my resources.
Hope this helps
Edit: Oh, you found the answer, lol. Sorry.

Cool, didn't work out so well for me xD
After searching a few Nandroid related threads I still have a couple of doubts.
I'm currently on Stock 4.0.4 with a locked bootloader and I did a nandroid backup with cwm auto installer (the one available on the market) and I want to try Arconium ICS 3.c and the Mooded ICS 80.8. Since they're 4.0.4 based roms can I just then restore my backup made on stock ICS if I want to go back to stock?? I don't want bootloops!
Have you go to this thread ? --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620255
I've tried this, its very easy indeed...
do backup every time I want to play with dev apps or roms...

Thanks for the link! That's an awesome app!
But my question is: does the back up install everything as it was independently the Rom you have at the time?

yes if you are using custom kernel you need to flash stock kernel first.

It will backup everything apart from the kernel as I found out yesterday. SO you will need to flash the stock kernel when going back to the stock 4.0.4 nandroid backup.
Once you flash a rom or theme and it works...and you have a Nandroid backup, do you need to keep the original files that you flashed? Also, I am bouncing back and forth between AOKP and FreeGS3, is there an easier way to do that besides Nandroid restores? Maybe an app that lets you boot from either rom? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone; forgive me for the N00B question - I have been having a great time with different ROMs on the SIII - I have never before flashed just the kernel and am interested in trying out ktoonsez kernel. I just want to make sure that, should something go wrong or I'm not happy and want to go back to the kernel I'm already using, can I just do a restore from CWM? Not entirely sure if restoring through CWM also restores the kernel that was installed at the time of the backup.
Thanks very much.

Yes you can do one of two things. Restore a nandroid from cwm or reinstall the ROM your on. If you restore a nandroid you will lose any apps installed or changes made to your phone. If you reflash the ROM your on wiping only dalvik cache/cache then the oy thing that will change is the kernel, you will get back the one that came with the ROM.
I just DoD this with my S3 for the first time and it was.fairly easy. I was updating to a new Rom and flashed it right afterwArds. One thing to remember when flashing the kernel is to
Clear the cache and Calvin and then fix the permissions.
What Rom are you using?

I'm using a stock Bell I747MVLALH1 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 with CWM 6.0.1.0.2.
Hello everyone I just have a quick question which I probably know the answer but just want some verification (and sry if there kinda stupid questions lol)
I'm using philiz touch recovery and I'm currently on ezkat v2 but I want to give cm11 or any AOSP ROM a try.
Just wondering, if I want to restore my backup of ezkat; when restoring do I need to wipe and factory reset or just go to the restore option in recovery? And with restoring a nandroid backup will everything (even the kernel) be like it was before I flash cm11
Thanks for any help and clarification I never had to restore a backup so this is new to me lol
