hello all! dev's any chance to see a rom with ics and the lastest sense from the Endeavor? thx in advance
Wrong forum. The Development forum is to show off your creations, not ask for something.

not only is this the wrong forum to ask for this, but we haven't even gotten a fully functional ICS rom yet.. It's going to take time, and ics sense is soo bogged down, even the phone it's released on (1ghz dual core, 1gb ram) lags, so I doubt it'll be pleasant.

Hello-
I was wondering if any developer would like to try porting a Sense 2.x or Sense 3.0 rom to the CDMA Desire. We don't have a single Sense rom for our phone besides the official sense 1.x RUU. I along with many owners of this phone are begging for someone to port their rom, but we have not received any help. Any time you spend on this is much appreciated and I am sure that plenty of people would be willing to donate.
Thanks!

I would love this as well, but it's not very likely to happen. I believe all the GSM Desire Sense rom's are avaliable due to a dev leak. The CDMA Desire is still only on Froyo for a Sense Kernel.
I'm trying to create an easy guide for CDMA user's since it almost needs it's own forum to make it easier for new users.
It would be nice to see sense 3.0 on our devices. I wonder if there's a way to port gsm rom on cdma device? Maybe someone can give a clue?
There have actually been some recent developments that have made the "possible." I am currently testing a version of Sense 2.1+3.0 that I have ported to the CDMA Desire with coolexe's new kernel. Some stuff isn't quite right yet (no wifi/gps/bluetooth due to kernel issues) and lack of space since I have had to port from the HTC incredible which doesn't have roms that utilize SDEXT like the Desire has to. Long story short, I have Sense 2.1 + some 3.0 elements running on my BravoC, but the data space is low (30mb after fresh install) and I have some other minor issues to work out.
wow, that would be AWESOME! I have been trying every sense 2.5 to runnymede's latest 4.0 sense rom, and have yet to have one go through. this explains it all! con247, that would be awesome man, let us know if you get it working. if you need help testing/finding bugs, i would be more than happy to help

so where are the porting devs?
EDIT: i´m only spreading information
Why would you want to pollute a good operating system with that trash??!?!?

Its all a matter of personal preference and taste, my friend. More ROMs is always better. And if you don't like it, you don't have to flash it (if anyone does port it). There are plenty of custom Sense ROMs on GB for our phone, so it would be hard to believe that absolutely no developers would be interested in porting a ICS ROM with Sense.
I think it'd be better to wait until HTC releases their first ICS phone. It will contain a brand new Sense UI version, which would be optimized for ICS.
Sense 3.5 is really convenient, I prefer it over stock Gingerbread. But in combination with Ice Cream Sandwich? Google's UI works like a charm, no need for me to switch back this soon.
That link looks very promising for DHD owners, I'm glad that we still have so much support for our phone though. It'd be really cool to see Sense 3.5 on ICS.
I don't think sense 3.5... I think sense 2.1 with ics will be an awesome combo

Desire HD and Desire Z came out around the same time, and hardware is similar in many ways. So the DHD ROM may be a good starting point.
Hi all devs!!! I was only wandering if someone can help with this port...
I will try but i haven't so much skills
I think this won't be so difficoult cause the leaked rom is for a 720p display so nothing needs to be resized
(Yeah if u don't like sense its not my problem so don't reply here saying sense suck --')
I will try to start port process today and post my results so don't delete this thread please
UPDATE: i can't find RUU file so i can't start...if someone have it please share it with me
I'm no dev, but aren't most sense ports failing because the sense sdk is closed source and there are a lot of libs and stuff unavailable for devs?
You can't just port Sense to another platform, it's not just a launcher but an entire framework
Plus this should be in Q&A not Dev
First step. Modify, build and successfully boot a kernel for Sense. Without it, the ROM will never boot. Sense needs kernel patches.
also if the leaked rom is for a 720p display don't signifies that the port is easy\fast.
anyway good luck for that!

I know that but u are wrong....nexus one have sense....nexus s have sense...galaxy s have sense...why we haven't to try?
I actually got the ruu booting on my nexus s 4g, so this is very possible for gnex.. you even have the same screen resolution..
I'll help try to port it to gnex, that would be pretty cool

Can u share the ruu with me?
this might help

But why on earth would you want to slow the Nexus down with Sense? My Sensation with Sense 3.6 (ICS 4.0.3) is horribly slow compared to stock Android

Cause we can and people have to have different choices...if i want TO port that why i haven't to do that?
I'm all for choices, but this is a BAD choice and would make the Nexus worse. It's seriously not worth porting it over.
Taking Sense to the Nexus One was easy as the Desire is the same phone so there wasn't a lot of work needed

No port is a bad choice, who wouldn't want the option to run sense on the gnex? If I had a gnex that would be my first project.
It couldnt make the device worse, more options are better
who wouldn't want to port sense on gnex?....anyone,seeing the effort on this 3ad!
and i think it's right.sense is good for any phone with a proper associated UI (and IMHO sense it's the best respect others, like tw,motoblur etc)but in a google phone, inwhich proper manufactured UI is absent,i agree with eddyOS,it's a nonsense.can only slowdown the system and eating most of the ram.why go straight on with a porting of a thing despite the absence of which was conceived and designed specifically to streamline the system ...?
Let the guy try! This would be interesting for sure!
sent from my Nexus Prime
nothin says that he shouldn't try...i only express my opinion!
This would be really awesome
Although I agree that it might slow down the system a bit, its amazing to have a lot of choices. Its a developer phone and the more roms, kernels and mods we have the better (although quality is important TOO )
BTW....swamp goblin, you really seem to love porting (just game from Nexus S), your work is fantastic
My hat off to whoever accomplishes this. I think it would be brilliant to see. Like people said, choice is good.
Aren't there any legal issues on this? I'm not too sure HTC would take it well.
that would be awesome... i hope its possible
Hi everyone/ developers/ users of xda developers and wfs owners. I'm quite new to xda developers ( as in ten minutes new) although I've been following things quite religious for a few months now.
SO, I was wondering whether anyone could tell me whether there are any roms with true hardware acceleration?
At the moment I have modpunks Ice cream sandwich/cm9 alpha 1 on my wildfire s (gsm) and I'm loving it alot, although I know he said he was releasing kernal 3.0 soon. Does kernal 3.0 have better hwa then? My second question is about forcing GPU rendering in applications ( on ICS ). I've searched and haven't been able to really find out much about it, by principal it should be good, especially since the adreno graphics drivers release for arm6, but I don't really know whether to use it or not.
I know this is a crapload of stuff to read but I'm really interest in custom roms and want to get involved, I appreciate any answers or discussion even
Hi guys, I'm fairly new here (been lurking for years though) and more of a hardware guy than a software guru.
I have my One V (non-rooted) for a few years now. Its CPU and half a gig of RAM were giving me a lot of trouble before I started using Auto Memory Manager and a custom launcher - Apex.
Now performance is acceptable, but I just want to root already and.get rid of Sense, all immortal bloatware and have better multitasking.
Went through the web pages of all popular roms such as AOPK, CM, MIUI, etc., but my phone is not.listed anywhere as an officially supported.device.
I'm not looking for anything flashy, just the opposite - looking for a simple, naked rom with only google play store and.nothing else, small memory footprint and.stable. Don't need bluetooth, camera, etc., don't want to overclock or anything, just a clean, fast rom without Sense, stable enough not.to crash my.alarm and get me fired..
Oppinions.about Primou? Other suggestions?
Thanks.in advance.
Anyone?

u can try Cyanogen Mod 10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2653961
To be honest, I've used the device for a long time and Ignorance v5 has been the best performing and most stable ROM for me but it's sense-based. You should try CM10 because it's a great ROM. Another ROM which I really liked is SlimBean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49763436.
In any case I suggest installing PurePerformanceX ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2360670 ) and TurboBoost ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145133 ). These mods will make the device noticeably faster and more responsive. You can also odex your ROM if you want to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390162.
Thanks everyone, but why isn't my device listed as supported in thr CM10 web page?
Greetings!
These "best ROM" type of threads inevitably lead to disaster, mayhem, and general havoc. Therefore, I am going to close this thread down to avoid any harsh times if you will.
Just take a gander at the various ROMs and their features in the development area and see what appeals to you. I just got a OnePlus One and have spent the last 3 days flashing pretty much every ROM the phone has to offer, and I can tell you there are nuances that no one could have told me about, before I found the one I currently like.
Happy hunting!
