I feel the same way. The stock ICS seems to be a lot faster than the MCR's at the moment - not sure why.
The only reason to root is to get things such as Ad Free, Full Backups, Underclock CPU when screen off, Apply Paul's UI tweaks.
Obviously things will grow in the future. If you do it now, then you dont risk the chance of losing the ability to in the future (doubtful that will ever happen with a Nexus)

Here's a much better question OP... Any reason to not root it?
The big ones for me are AdFree and Titanium Backup.
To improve battery life.

This is the first Android OS where it seem so much useable and stable, that I see no use to root. This coming from a primarily IOS guy. I hope I don't have to root.

by rooting?
Reason #1: to customize the device by playing with the system files
I will need to root my Galaxy Nexus (when I get one) so I can connect my PS3 controller up and play emulator games.

Is it possible to connect a PS3 controller and play games with current devices today? If yes, could you point me to the application
I will only root if a kernel with ridiculous battery life surfaces. Otherwise this may be the first Android phone I really see no reason rooting. Strange thought.

I would do it just for Google Wallet

If you are here, you should root. Ad free and Titanium back up are worth it by themselves.

AdFree is pretty silly IMO. Blocking connections using the host file? Really? I guess the creators don't know what a firewall is or how to use iptables.
well i have a problem with this game, I bought this game yesterday from the google play installead the app and when opened the game does not work tells me that my device is not compatible ... the messange said something like "your device is not campatible we send this report to our coustom service, try to install the date in 48 hours" but i prefer to take my reimbursement ... is this game working ok or not? sorry for my poor english.
You could try editing your build.prop to "fake" your device as an A500.

I can't get it to load the data either. I have been back and forth with their CS for nearly 2 weeks now and haven't heard anything for about a week now, I don't think they know what's going on. I am also unrooted stock ICS.
Stay away from this game for now.

yeah ... looks like we need to wait, stupid gameloft why did they put the game on our Compatibility List if thats not true ... well lets wait.
I'm running Order and Chaos just fine on my A100.
Really fun and very WoW like
My solution was kind of unorthadox in that I bought the game like you guys and then ran into issues..and ended up side-loading a modified apk that by-passes the device check.
Runs great.
PM me for any questions and I'll help you out.
Mine works perfectly.. even with gl to sd running it..

If your on ICS/CM9 it won't play 75% of HD games, but I can comfirm on CM10 4.1.2 all 3 of those play with no build prop tricks or nothing.

not that simple, man
1st, i am afraid you don have included all the files needed
2nd, even you have all the files required, you don have anything to trigger the bravia engine
for more info, you can read my previous ports to SGS2 and galaxy note:
is Sony Bravia Engine really working with SGS2 and other Android devices?
some good news for Sony Bravia Engine and Samsung Galaxy S2
IT WORKS!! Sony Bravia Engine and Samsung Galaxy S2 with stock Gallery3D
I'm not going to try this solely because you're using BLUE Comic Sans in your post

ykk isn't afraid. He's telling you that your mod doesn't work.... and he's right. There is a whole shïtload more that goes into the Bravia framework than what's in your zip. Sorry dude, but you've built a useless CWM package.

@Ykk made it work on gs2 and so did pfittech and one of the "old" checkrom dev's(his name got lost ,i had a braincrash),so yes it did work on gs2 and one dude included in his rom on gs3,but i never tried it so i cant say for sure that it worked on gs3.but for gs2 it improved pic's greatly, more sharp and crisp..
Just hope for someone to port it to gs3,but i dont know how big a difference it would do on gs3,because we have the best resolution for phones atm.but it would be fun to see if there would be any improvement

checkrom (gadgetcheck or leomar) scrapped it on the s2 so did loads of other devs . as it did nothing , it was just a placebo ... more devs started chatting about it everywhere and all of them said it will never work basically
the bravia engine thing unless you`re on sony`s phones like arc or so forth its just a placebo for others. why did the devs scrap that idea.. well because in sony phones there is sensor built in called exmor-r which has bravia built into that, and further more it has it built into sony`s framework and so forth. so thats why anyone that tries this beats, bravia engine and xloud and so forth is just placebo for others.. so everyone is right. sorry op to ruin your bubble. don`t take it bad, atleast you`re trying to contribute right. which is a good thing in heart to think of..

i have done comparison on arc with bravia on and with i727 skyrocket with bravia mod on and its different. if you think some ppl are just dumb then do us a favor, you worked with android for long time. i worked with android since 2.1 so what? what difference does that make. go get a arc and put it side by side with ur s3 with a bravia mod. and if u don't see difference from 1 another then i don't know what 2 say. because ive owned these phones i know what and how its suppose to look like.and as i said we appreciate you contributing but don't take it to heart, its just a forum. relax , enjoy
Anybody find a decent guide or know a simple way to do this? My default method was to use chainfire3d and enable tegra spoofing but his app doesn't work so well with jelly bean. Is it a simple build.prop mod I'm missing? I know some games require messing with files that pertain just to that game. Just curious. Would love to show what that adreno 320 can really do, shame the extra graphics are locked down by Nvidia bull crap. Open to any advice or feedback. Thanks

Hey guys, I'm back again with a question.
So, some people that has "addicted" to this device loves this device so much, so even if he/she lost it. They will buy a new one.
As for user who can't afford it, they usually will stop. But in my question here,
Is there any emulator that can emulate our Galaxy W 100% (or 90%) ?
So devs/users that lost/gave it to the others/sold it can still contribute here.
Regards,
Kreaz

Yep, that's my point. So I'm looking for it. The one which simulates the 'behavior' of any device. So it will act like it is really 352 MB (depending on RAM the device has), and it acts like: 'Whoa! I have to be overclocked! It's still has some lag!' or 'Hmm, this game is not supporting me ' or whatever do you imagine that.
