Nope, no NFC in the E4GT.

No nfc in this phone. The skyrocket and the T-Mobile versions have nfc in the battery and it won't fit in our phones.

why do they only offer a 1gb card? and list the sgs but not anything else :/

Whats the big commotion over NFC?
The only thing I see useful is Google Wallet, and MAYBE beam... Other than that what are the uses?

I want to program my school ID and CharlieCard into the phone and just wave my phone to get into our buildings or the T. No idea if that will be possible...

The latest paypal update incorporates nfc which would be good if you had someone else with a nfc capable phone and wanted to send them some money lol. I guess in 2 or 3 years when its in shops then we can do away with our cards and cash and just pay for everything by phone
As for the OP I will have to see what apps and games I have look ok and work with the 1280x720 screen. If not then I may have to write some.
Mark.

So I just seen a link on Samsung TecTiles, is NFC on cm9?

This seems pretty cool:
http://www.samsung.com/us/microsite/tectile/
But can we enable NFC without a stock rom and FC09 modem?

I was thinking that., any reason on fc09 stock rom it shows NFC setting(greyed out -.-)? that sucks. couldn't you spoof NFC through a mod of some sort?

Nope.
At least not that I know of. Maybe GPS location... but that would need detailed position. Or through the accelerometer... like bump.

not possible, the antenna is in the battery, but the communications part of nfc is on the circuit board.
Its a cool concept I personally want one on my bathroom sink That way when I'm flashing a new rom and dropping a duece I can boot back up set it on the sink to make the toilet paper dispense, then delay 1 minute to wipe and then flush the toilet. Then my water will turn on for two minutes and I'll wash my hands and then my paper towel will dispense then when I pickup the phone. The air Freshener will spray. that would suffice.

Update?

It seems like all the other major GS3 carriers have gotten updates which alter the google search function, but they all also got new radio/modem updates.
I wouldnt mind a radio update. Any thoughts/ideas when and if tmobile will get a similar update?
Hopefully when the really important updates come along like jb we're not last in line as well.

So I think its pretty obvious we will get an update to strip the search funcationality, but i wonder why the other carriers did it so fast (considering the issues with apple now) and Tmobile gets away with being allowed to wait
I'm not complaining I like everything the way it is right now. I like the search bar and am not hoping for an update to remove it. The brightness thing doesn't bother me that much as I keep it at almost max most of the time.
Some updates I do want to see though are of course Jellybean, and maybe if it's possible an update to improve 4G and WiFi connections.

Well I just got another gs3 the 32gb and gave the 16gb to my wife, the one I got 7/6/12 from the t-mobile store. And to me with the updated sticker on the box I've noticed that the battery life and data speeds has improved can you guys confirm from the pic that is the update build # or is this the old build number and I still need to wait to get the new one.

How do you use nfc

Like the feature won't toggle on or won't function when toggled on ?
What exactly are you trying to do with NFC?
Have you enabled it in the phone's settings under wireless and network..more settings?
Do you have NFC tags that have been been programmed to do something?
Are you trying to bump phones to trade files or what?

Samsungs S-Health App work on Nexus?

Can this app work on the Gnexus? I saw they have wristbands now that will track what you do. Obviously our phones dont have the sensors but if the app works then no reason why it cant sync with the wristband. Anyone have any experience with this?

Our phone doesn't have the built-in pedometer, but there'll most likely be something like it in the Play Store sooner or later. I'd imagine once the .apk gets ripped it can still connect to that band thing.

Depends how the software is written (and it's from Samsung to be noted). GN is missing some sensors, so if the app can skip those gracefully and doesn't rely on TW framework, it might even work. But I don't see a point in using it, since the app makes sense of those extra sensors, everything else exists already and can be installed on most Android phones.
