[Q] Flashed the WRONG firmware on Galaxy s2 (Epic 4g Touch) - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok so as you all know i'm a newbie.. I didn't know there was like 6 different models of Galaxy s2's so being dumb I download the 4.0.3. ics firmware thinking it was for my galaxy and it turns out my model is a sph-d710 and the firmware i downloaded was a international galaxy model gt-i9100. Two different phones, wrong flash with odin.:/
I'm stuck with a brick i'm not sure soft brick or hard brick and i don't know what to do! my phone when pressing power on it goes to a triangle saying to recovery with kies. can't get to download, or recovery mode. so i decided to make a usb jig and this is what it says in download mode.
FACTORY MODE:
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9100(used to say sph-d710)
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
When i connect to pc it isn't detected by microsoft acts like nothing is plugged in, kies, and odin don't work either. i tried every port a billion times disconnecting and reconnecting. i even tried downloading the gt-i9100 driver to see if that worked and no luck.
Anybody, help? I miss my phone.
Thank you.

Did you try a different cord?

Jtag is the only thing that will fix it .. sprint and act stupid may get it replaced also but there is no fix except jtag

nothing will help you except a jtag. now you know at least. alot of people have done this. you aren't the only one. jtag or returning it to sprint with some real good story. good luck man.

You can get into download mode, so try a different computer. If that failes, $50 for jtag service.

That is not true all the time. I flashed an international firmware version on my phone and it still did connect through odin. Thank god. Can you still access recovery? I was able to but I couldn't access my sd card but I was able to access internal storage which did not help me as I had no roms on there.

The issue is not the international ROM per se. It is the international bootloader. If you flash that, then nobody has been able to get their phone recognized in a USB port. Some packages do and some packages don't include the bootloader, so you could have flashed an international ROM w/o flashing the intl bootloader.

ty i have the same problem and i couldnt figure nothing out so basically at this point the phone is a paper weight? unless you can come up with a hell of a story to tell sprint and if sprint buys the story can they fix your phone right there on the spot free of charge?

Jtag the device.

Rooting/Update gone wrong

I am in need of major help.
My brother attempted to root and update my phone to the leaked ICS fd16. All was going well until the usb cable accidentally disconnected and now I'm stuck with a partial update and only keep on getting a "firmware has encountared problem" message. It will allow me to go into download mode but it won't let me get into the recovery screen to run a full factory reset.
I can't run an emergency firmware recovery through Kies since there aren't any backup files. Not only that but now my phone can't be recognized through my macbook.
I have attempted to use the usb cable that came with the phone as well as another HTC cable I had in hand from a previous model I owned.
I don't want to take it to Sprint yet since it was my fault that we even attempted this modification and I was even told that Sprint wont be able to replace my phone right then and there for another phone.
I'm going out of town on Monday so ordering a jig or sending it mobiletech is not an option. Any help right now would truly be appreciated.
THANKS
As long as you can get into download mode you are OK. Just download any rom tar to your computer and odin it to your phone in download mode. Should fix it.

[Q] phone identified as i9100 and no wifi or ODIN support

hello all
title says it all
My friend has a d710 and the phone identifies itself as i9100 in the boot screen and download mode and settings -> about phone (2.3.4 kernel JPKI1, build jpkpi1)
my pc refuses to see it in ODIN and the phone is not rooted so i cant try to use mobile odin to force flash a proper d710 rom.
not sure what was done to the phone. (i mean even if he force flashed an i9100 firmware on it, i certainly dont expect it to boot into android.
can somebody help
thanks
For Odin do you have the proper drivers for it? Did you try a different cable? Maybe a different USB port? Also when you flash a custom kernel, the boot screen will have the international logo with the yellow triangle.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
i installed the latest USB drivers and they seems to be working fine
i changed cable and port but it didnt change anything
i tested odin on a Galaxy note and it worked fine. so its not the pc
Did your friend flash an international ROM?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
probably
apparently he took it to a local shop but he has no idea what they did to it. all he knows is that wifi doesn't work anymore.
i think he took it to a shop and they probably force flashed an i9100(GSM) firmware on this thing but it somehow failed midway or after flashing the kernel portion. which left iit in an odd state where its broken but with the ability to boot to the OS.
im sure that this can be fixed if i can flash a normal d710 firmware on the phone but ODIN does not see the phone when i put it in download mode
Is it only not seeing the phone when its in DL mode? have you tried when the phone is on, hook it up to the PC and under device management (start menu search, device management) right click on the USB drive, should show device with yellow triangle, update drivers via search online. Maybe bacause it is the GSM firmware it may need different drivers for odin. Im also assuming the you are trying to use sfhub's one-click odins?
i tried to use both ODINs same problem
in the contol panel i see 3 "android composite ADB Interface. two of which have the yellow triangle. making it go to online to download the updated driver, returns "windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date"
btw. i used a real i9100 on the PC and odin sees it just fine
I found some stuff on it.

its for the galexy nexus but similer situation. may shed some light on the subject.
Can you get into CWM or is it completely stock? I would see if your friend can take it back to the store that "fixed" it and ask what exactly the did to it. Also do you have a jig? that would force it into DL mode.

Silly question but can you pull the battery and see what model it shows on the sticker? Just curious because I have heard of people flashing i9100 builds on our phone but thought it usually results in a bootloop.

ohh i already have kies (and the samsung phones USB drivers) installed. my PC connects just fine with a N7000(gNote and SGS2-i9100) just fine.
please note that the D710 is identifying itself as i9100 in the download mode screen!!??
I saw you said you had the right drivers (I assume you mean for the SPH-D710) I have heard of some people having luck when doing that kind of thing by installing the drivers for the phone they flashed onto their epic touch. (In your case the i9100 drivers)
Note: I am not responsible if doing this destroys your phone, usb, computer, or anything else.
All epics say i9100 in download mode.. why don't you try removing the drivers... and using heimdall, sounds like your drivers are messed up since you have some yellow triangles...
If there any wrong phone flashing going on, it wouldn't boot.

[Q] peoblems with odin and usb connection

ok i am new to the scene. i had my brother in-law "whom told me he knew how to root it" ok he failed i got my phone back and when i turn it on i get a splash screen that has the samsung galaxy 2 logo a triangle with a exlamation point and says GT-I9100. ok i did some search and found out this is wrong very wrong. so i attempted to get to odin to try to recover what i could. i was unable to access odin so i built the micro usb jtag jig and i am know able to get to odin, but when i plug my phone into my pc thru its usb connection my pc doesnt detect, see, or even regonize my phone can some one please help me
If you are technical enough to build a jtag jig then you can figure out how to root this phone. I dont want to sound like an ass but there are guides and links everywhere here. Also check out qbking77 on youtube and look into an app called triangle away.
ok that is a smart ass reply. first of all if you could see my net history you would see that i have read and tried all that i could.
1. the wrong os for a different carrier was put on the phone
2. i can access odin
3. if you read my post i stated that after i get to odin and plug the phone into the pc the pc CAN NOT EVEN SEE THE PHONE.
4. I have tried all that i can locate and i have not been able to locate any post that are like mine
instead of being an ass and leaving a smart ass remark how about actually helping.
as for making a jtag jig and its relevance to rooting a phone is idiotic since all i did was follow instructions on it
If your phone has the wrong os for a different carrier it would be a brick right now.
Are you saying the phone doesn't boot or do you just have a yellow triangle and usb issues but your phone works?
Did you even load the samsung usb drivers?
mental yedctve
ok here is a pic of what my phones start up screen looks like
the phone boots to this image and flashes it twice and then goes black

Sadly I think the OP may have had the international bootloader flashed onto the system. If you could get into the system then you could flash Mobile Odin and get a recovery on that would allow you to flash things except for a modem.
As posted above, please try the following thread first:

If this doesn't work then go down the JTAG or replace route. Best of luck and sorry to hear about this.

[Q] Slimbean Brick

So I flashed the latest Slimbean last night and it instabricked my phone. Total failure. After I rebooted the phone would turn on, wont charge, wont go into recovery or download mode. Yes I flashed correctly and yes the battery was charged. This is probably the 10th rom i've tried with this phone. Any help out there?
Make sure you're trying to boot into download using the correct combo (Vol down + power + home buttons) use Vol up for recovery.
Make sure the file you downloaded is for US GS3 codename "d2att,d2tmo, or d2ca" and not anything international.
If you didn't flash anything international or from another phone you shouldn't be bricked.

Hmm, maybe I did flash the I9300 one, but even so. Why would that mess with my recovery/download?
The I9300 flash contains a kernel specific to I9300, not I747 or I747M...

Because the international versions hardware is COMPLETELY different than US version.
If you did flash international version you're completely out of luck, you're bricked and your phone is now a paperweight. Sorry bud.

Download Kies to get drivers then disable or uninstall kies so it doesn't disturb Odin. Flash stock ROM with Odin and you should be good to go. You'd need to get into download mode though on the phone. If you can't, I'd say you can only JTAG.
Course, I've never bricked my device. That's just what I gathered based on the little bit I just read up on. Good luck.

As stated by busarov, if your device is seen by your PC there is still hope!
Try Odin as many times as you can as long as your device is visible.
I've read its taken up to 5 times times for some users to get it to work after flashing international firmware.
Just don't use Kies. Since your device is rooted it will have problems. Stick to Odin.

There is not necessarily hope. The PC can still register a generic USB device on a hard brick. Unless the phone can be put into download mode, either by Volume Down + Home + Power or by homemade/purchased USB JIG, I'm afraid a JTAG is your only recourse.
Keep in mind if the device does not turn on at all, no vibrations, no flicker of light, even after a battery pull, and the only sign is a red LED turns on when plugged into the charger, the phone is hard bricked and will require a JIG (not guaranteed) or a JTAG.

Agreed, even though you flashed a Slimbean ROM, it was for the incorrect variant. Your thread title should be changed to reflect that, as it may cause new users to be fearful when flashing that ROM.

I think I bricked my S3.. need help

Hi XDA
I think I just bricked my Galaxy S3 by loading the wrong bootloader on it
I can't turn on the phone, I can't boot into recovery or download mode.
The only sign on life is when I connect it to my PC I can hear the "USB connected" sound. If I plug it in without a battey, I can see a red led on the phone as well as the Windows sound.
I can see HS_USB QDLoader 9008 in the device manager
Please help.. I can't stand my old iPhone as a replacement :/
When you connect the phone to the computer and it makes the "connected" sound, do the buttons respond for download or recovery mode?
Have you tried a USB jig to force it into download mode?
You may have to have it revived via jtag if nothing works.

What exactly so you mean by "wrong bootloader" for a different model phone(example I747 bootloader on an I747M phone) or you were on mjb/mj5 and tried to flash an older bootloader? If it was wrong model you need a jtag/riff box to recover it if it was an older bootloader you need a 16gb or larger sd card (maybe an additional 1-2gb card too) and to look at debricking/unbricking threads there are a few of them. It seems to be about 70% effective so good luck.
