Ok I understand your issue and just like to say that every thread I have read since yesterday tells you how to fix your problem. Also, in the future just try and do better research before jumping into things... Now to help you - boot back into recovery and do a system restore/full wipe. I understand its not a CWM based recovery but if you read the OP you would of noticed that. Your second choice is to use odin a CWM recovery and you can restore your old nandroid. The link to a CWM odin recovery is also in the OP of CM9

do you know why it wouldnt boot up for me?

no but you are not alone... its an issue for quite a few people and it depends on where you were coming from. Did you go into it from cm7? Touchwiz rom? Hey best bet just follow instructions to a tee and you should not have any issues. But if you are new to this read for a day or two before leaping.
I am a flashaholic and I still have not flashed anything after cm9 alpha 2. I know how it is give it a day or two and someone will come up with a proper working recovery and zip. No need to be an early guinea pig with everything....

yeah i flash alot all the time and i followed this one exactly and i did everything right it just got stuck for me. i just flashed a stock .tar through odin and i re rooted but i want to get cm9 working so bad

Stuck on boot screen! Help!

Hi!
I bought a Desire HD a week ago and today I decided to try one of the custom roms. I rooted it with Visionary+, turned s-off with the one-click tool found in another thread, installed Rom Manager and Clockwork mod and then flashed it with a custom rom from the recovery/boot screen without wiping anything.
The problem is, when I later tried to install another rom, it wouldn't boot, it's stuck on the HTC boot screen. I've tried reflashing it, wiping everything there is to wipe and I even tried RUU but it won't recognize the phone. Can anyone help me how to restore to the normal stock rom?! I can bring up the Clockworkmod recovery menu if I take out the battery and put it back in.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me with this! Consider that I'm a noob though so try to write the instructions as simply as possible
Hi, I'm basically in the same boat (I take it you tried one of the stable CM6 builds?).
Digged through an awful lot of stuff, found something about downgrading clockwork.
Maybe this'll help you, I'm still having trouble.
I've found an older clockwork recovery image, gathered all the SDK bits and pieces, got my USB drivers set up after even more digging - now this:
D:\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot boot recovery.img
downloading 'boot.img'... OKAY
booting... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
It's rooted, S-OFF, all that good jazz. Halp. :<

Which version clockwork mod are you using? And what is the ROM you tried to flash?
Sometimes custom ROMs can take 5 minutes to boot...so give it some more time and see if that helps.

seems like your pc is not recognizing your phone. And should not you flash the recovery first and then boot?
I did flash the recovery via Rom Manager, which gave me Clockwork Recovery version 3.0.0.5.
Then I had Rom Manager download CM6, it rebooted the phone, phone gets stuck in HTC splash screen.
According to the thread I linked above, I needed to downgrade Clockwork Recovery, hence flashing 2.5.x.x via command prompt.
The drivers are installed correctly, I'm at least sure of that.
Recovering my previously backed up stock ROM won't get me further than the splash screen either, same with wiping everything that can be wiped before that.

Then use ROM manager to downgrade the CWM to 2.x. You can do it under the option "All recoveries" in ROM manager. People are reporting problems with the latest version of CWM. Check if you get the same if you wipe everything and install another custom ROM.
Can't find a way to even get past the first splash screen - only thing I can properly access is the Bootloader.
Same here. When I boot I just see the initial "HTC" logo, nothing else.
I had Mike's Revolution HD ROM installed and working just fine, and then I tried to install another mod, which got me to this situation.
I have CWM 3.0.0.5 and I have a nandroid backup of the working system from before installing the last mod.
I tried recovering the nandroid, which goes smoothly (including the MD5 validation of the backup) but it still doesn't boot afterwards. I wiped the boot, system and data partitions and tried restoring again - same result.
I assume my next step is to flash a new ROM but unfortunately I don't have any ROMs on my SDCARD, so I need a way to push it there. I tried with fastboot but it doesn't recognize a partition called "sdcard". I believe adb should work while I'm in CWM but it just says "error: device not found".
Any suggestions?

Sorry, no idea which version, but it's the default that comes with Rom Manager. I downloaded Rom Manager yesterday so I guess it's the most recent Clockwork mod.
Left it for 15 minutes, still nothing. I used Android Revolution HD 2.0.11 for the first flash which worked and then when I tried to install Pays-ROM HD Sparta 1.0 I got stuck on the boot screen. I've tried recovering from the previous backup I made on the recovery screen with no result.
Just got mine back alive
Flashed CWM 2.5.1.3 and restored the nandroid with it.
Spending the last few hours searching the forums my best advice is to avoid 3.0.0.5
Went a different approach - finally figured out that you could mount the sdcard via Clockwork Recovery, threw newest CM7 nightly on there and installed it with Clockwork as well.
CHRIST that was a pain in the ass... and I thought downgrading the stock ROM was annoying.
as a rule i have found out cwm3 is for flashing gingerbread and cwm2 is for froyo

Take your battery off, then put it back in. Hold power button and volume down button at the same time. You come to recovery...or alternately you can use adb.

mate you're a STAR. I actually downloaded a recovery image (from post 1315) in the same thread but it kept saying "connecting to device". When I downloaded the recovery image from 1312 and ran "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" it say's

writing recover ... OKAY
What do I do next? Just reboot the device?

[Q] [[SOLVED]] Recovery Broken, Need Help

[[SOLVED]]
Alright, so I checked through a few pages on the forums, and I didn't see anyone posting about this issue I am having..
I purchased my S3 a few days ago, and instantly rooted it. I used the Odin3 v3.07 method with "root66_SPR_L10VPBLJ7.7Z" ROM. That went well and fine. Then I tried flashing CWM recovery, and when I booted into recovery, it was still the stock. So I downloaded ROM Mangager and flashed the touch CWM recovery, after it finished, it asked if I wanted to boot into recovery. I agreed. Then the phone restarted, and upon starting, it showed the SAMSUNG logo, and "recovery booting" in the top left corner for about half a second. Then it just stayed on a black screen. I could do nothing after that. I then took the battery out for about 5 minutes, threw it back in, and the phone started. So I tried to manually boot into recovery, and the same issue. Took the battery out again, phone started properly, so I then tried to get into download mode. That worked fine, so I downloaded the CWM recovery on my laptop, and connected the phone through Odin, and flashed CWM onto my phone. Odin said it passed, but I still have the same issue when I try to boot into recovery.
Any ideas on something I'm doing wrong?
It is likely that your ROM is detecting the custom recovery and replacing it with the stock one. This was a change made to the stock ROM several versions ago. Before that you did not have to do anything extra to load the custom recovery.
The versions LG8 and later have code to detect an unsigned recovery and replace it with stock. You need to:
- Download TeamEpic-Root-from-Recovery-v5.zip and place it on your ineternal sdcard.
- Get into Download Mode and connect ODIN.
- Flash the custom recovery with ODIN but do not check the "Auto Reboot" box in Odin.
- Disconnect the phone from the PC once the recovery is flashed.
- Pull the battery to power down
- Boot directly into recovery (Hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons until recovery appears. Do not allow the ROM to start).
- Once in the recovery you need to flash the Team Epic Root from Recovery.
- Reboot
All Done

Correct; and the reason for this is because the updated stock firmware as a script basically that re-flashes stock recovery upon boot if stock isn't detected. The team epic zip removes that. After doing that; I'd recommend flashing the twrp recovery.

So whats your issue? Why do you need the stock rom...? The drivers are the same and the stock kernel is for stock only, not aosp

Okay I did some research, and I found online that the Samsung phones need .tar.md5 not .img files for recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484304
I did not use these directions since I don't run linux, and I wasn't going to download VMWare. Anyways, the way I fixed it, I purchased and downloaded Mobile Odin from the Play store. I put the recovery.img on my external SDcard, then opened the app. Under "recovery" I selected recovery.img and then scrolled down to "Flash" It flashed the recovery.img with no problems, then booted me into recovery. I then flashed mrRobinson_Ashaman.v2.20_signed.zip so I could uninstall some bloatware.
That last part was mostly for me, until I find a ROM I like.

Go to SamMobile, register first (registration is free) and download the stock firmware for your S2x (SGH-T989D) and flash with Odin. Since you can't revert back to the stock OS, flash the firmware and don't worry about wiping just yet. The Darkside SuperWipe method is used prior to installing a custom ROM. Download the appropriate firmware (4.1.2.) and get your T989D up and running first. Root the device and install a custom recovery. You may want to choose a CWM (ClockWorkMod) recovery as the Darkside SuperWipe works best with CWM. Download the QuickBoot app from the Playstore, this allows you to boot into recovery mode without having to press the volume up/down/power combination of buttons used to access recovery mode.
Do not skip any steps, instructions borrowed from TheDerekJay's Darkside SuperWipe page.
IMMEDIATELY BEFORE FLASHING ROM OF YOU CHOICE, DO THE FOLLOWING...
1. Place on ROOT of your SD card.
2. Boot into Recovery Mode
3. Do a NAND BACKUP!!!
4. Flash DARKSIDE SUPERWIPE
5. Stay inside recovery
6. Flash desired ROM.
7. After flashing is complete, Reboot...
8. Done!
At most, ten minutes tops. I've run into instances of fifteen minutes. If you're not seeing results by the twenty minute mark, you'll have to start over. Do not use nightly's or release candidates, especially if you want to use the custom ROM for stable everyday operation. If I've missed any steps, I'm sure others will add to this.

I think it might be best to get your S2x back to stock. If this is the only device you have, then it's probably not a good idea to start experimenting. If something should go wrong, you'll be without a phone. I started by practicing on a Galaxy Ace to get the hang of rooting and installing custom ROM's and gradually progressed to the S2x, HTC Raider etc. I'm not trying to discourage you, but I think you need to do a little more reading/research and gather the tools that you'll need to familiarize yourself with how this all works.
yeah, i think to :good:
with all the test i do i think i'm lucky to not brick my phone
i reflash with odin and it now work fine
i try the other solution but not work
when i want to install cyanogen. i'm gonna see on XDA forum for help first
If you're looking to squeeze a little more performance out of your device, rooting alone is a good option. At the moment, I've reverted back to stock firmware (4.2.1.) and only rooted the device. I've removed and/or quarantined most of the carrier and manufacturer bloatware (software not necessarily needed, but installed by carrier/manufacturer) and the S2x flies, zero lag and swiping through pages is incredibly fast.
I'm not sure which solution you're referring to, glad to hear your S2x is back up and running though. :good: I should add that the S2x is an aging device which is why we haven't seen a ton of answers to your post, lol. Maybe when you decide to upgrade to an S4 or something, you can use the S2x as a test device to practice with.

U need to go get the updated recovery, use twrp v2.6.1.0 from here techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules, flash the tar. file with odin then download the ROM of choice, put on SD card and boot to recovery, DO NOT use any superwipe/supercache wipe script with twrp, it can break things, do a full wipe in twrp (advanced wipe menu) data, system, dalvik cache, and cache, 3x each, the flash ROM, flash gapps, reboot and let the phone sit ten min, then reboot again and set up, should be fine, u need to be on a newer recovery to flash these new roms..

No just go to the link I provided, download the tar file, put the device in download mode, and use Odin to flash the recovery tar file just like u would if u were going back stock, but only flash the recovery, or if u u really want to, go to the dev section and find the twrp thread and find the flashable zip file, that u can flash with cwm, but either way u don't need to return to stock, I suggest using the Odin method I proscribed ..

That is weird, I had no problem with 2.6.1 maybe give it another shot at least you'll know for sure. As for the button combination, I just use the volume up/down keys and power to get into recovery, trick I found was to let go of power right after that slight vibration and keep holding both volume keys until the TeamWin logo appears.
yea it froze up again with the team win v2.6.1.0. i guess my only option atm is to flash with the 2.6.3 since im boot looped. im gonna try and flash that ROM Hellybean

yes tmobile galaxy s2 t989, something is wrong with teh phone. im on twrp 2.6.3, when i tried to advance wipe data, system, and all that it just freezes for like 30 mins. had to pull battery.

[Q] No Recovery??

I asked this question in the thread for the ROM I tried installing but figured I might as well as here... I tried flashing the AICP ROM from MrImpossible and I think I got a bad download.. The flash failed and I redownloaded the ROM.. Upon putting my SD card back into the phone, I could not boot into recovery.. Of course I had wiped my old ROM so I am stuck with my phone doing nothing... I am downloading the Stock Firmware to Odin back but was wondering if there was anything else I could do, or if I am missing something.. When trying to manually boot into recovery, The Galaxy S4 screen, The little blue "recovery booting" is not showing up and of course I get stuck at that screen.. Has this ever happened to anyone??
What's your method of manually entering recovery?
Try just the volume up plus power button combo?
Also what recovery? You could try flashing a different recovery via Odin

If the answer is YES then all you have to do is to reflash the rom (install option in twrp)
BUT this time when you are in the AROMA installer be SURE that on each screen
where it asks you to select options that you select at least one item even if the item is
already selected by default select it again. Do not skip any options in AROMA installer.
If you do not select an item for each option the phone will again get stuck on boot screen or it will bootloop.
(P.s. the aroma installer will do the wipe)
Good luck!

[Q] Burning hours of my life away on a tab 3 SM-T210

Hi Guys, I have had a tab 3 passed to me to take a look at its an sm-t210 and I am really struggling to get it working.
I can boot to download mode and I can boot to stock recovery mode but it wont actually the OS load up.
I have tried flashing the stock rom from sams and my eyes actually sting from reading so many posts on this now.
The furthest I can get is rebooting after flashing the stock firmware then its stuck on the system recovery with E failed to verify whole-file signature, signature verification failed.
I have tried with the latest 4.4.2 to the 4.1.2 and it just gets stuck in to a boot loop as only half the installation is completing.
Tried pretty much everything and just at the end of my tether now
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you kindly in advance

Hi, Thank you for getting back to me..
I have not installed a custom recovery, it is the stock from samsung-updates.com 7.0_WiFi/SM-T210/BTU/T210XXBNI1 (4.4.2) I have been trying to get working but that just goes in to a hard repeating boot up loop once finished in oden that wont let me access recovery.
I have re flashed with samsung-updates.com 7.0_WiFi/S_M-T210/BTU/T210XXAMKF (4.1.2) which gets me a little further as it then spits up a signature verification error while trying to update in the stock recovery program.
I have tried numerous others from reading through posts on here and they all fail at the signature verification or get stuck in a repeating boot up loop.
I cant post links yet as I am a new member, I can take screen shots though i think if you need them for reference.
Thank you kindly in advance
Please tell me , you are The first owner, or is a second Hand one.?
Wy i ask , at Download you can See The Staus as Custom, so it was modified.
Try a factory reset, Wipe cache from The recovery and try to reboot.

It belongs to my friend's son who had it new and I am unsure what exactly he has done to it. I was just given it to try repair as I am usually quite sharp at fixing things.
Yes I noticed that box says custom but was unsure as I have already tried doing factory reset and wipe cache I thought it would return it to stock but it seems to have no effect.
OK, my last idea,
1.Download a customrom for exp. Nolekat to a ext.Sdcard and put this to your Tab
2.Download a Custumrecovery lastet Version ( The one with KK extension ) to your PC i prefere CWM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433853
3.go into Download mode and follow the Guide from the link.
4. Important , after flashing with Odin boot with the 3 Buttons to the Recovery and flash the Customrom.
Good luck and a happy New year 2015

I wish you a Happy New year.
The Cwm is the Version 6.0.4.9 KK ? Important is KK.
Have you tried to flash the Nolekat with ext.Sdcard Form the Recovery and than try to reboot?
A other important question, repartion was unchecked by Odin !
Can you go to the Download mode?

Ok here is where I am at. I was unable to get an external SD card today. Is there any other way to get this device working?
When I flash T210_CWM_6.0.4.9.KK.tar.md5 it does not let me access recovery mode, it just hangs on a black screen but I can still get to download mode.
I have to re flash Stock rom so it gives me back recovery mode but does not complete as shown before with screenshot.
I am just going around in circles now and about to tell my friend he needs to get a new one sadly.
Updated screen shot
This is its current state in recovery mode after flashing stock rom.
Try doing a factory reset there in the recovery and wipe the cache. Then see if it will reboot.
Tried everything pretty much..

Okay, so you're in stock recovery. You need to reboot to download mode. Next you need to flash a custom recovery with Odin. I recommend TWRP. You also need to download the most recent supersu zip. Once you're in the custom recovery of your choice, flash the supersu zip and reboot. Congratulations, you are now on rooted stock!

Thank you but i have tried that already. Same result, i cannot get in to custom recovery after flashing it, i can then only get back in to download mode and this aching process repeats over and over.
I am throwing in the towel, this device is bust.
Thank you all for your efforts
