G'day All,
Just wondering if anyone had a solid word on whether the pinouts (on the XDA-Developers site) for the XDA I reflect the XDA II port pinouts as well?? OK - The connector's the same - But are ALL the pins the same?
I'd appreciate an educated opinion on this one!
Cheers!

I know for sure that the USB and serial have the same pins, because the cables still work.
My best guess at this point is that all the pins are the same. It would be very nice if they had added a radio-mute on one of the free pins, and I would also much appreciate if some of the weird power-down characteristics of the serial port were gone, but haven't tested this.
Does anyone have an XDA1 carkit or other piece of equipment that uses the audio pins and that can confirm the kit still works on XDA2 ?
XDA II Pinouts
Thanks for that! If someone can confirm those audio pins for us, that'd be great!
Cheers!

I have bought a pair of faulty backpacks on ebay for my XDA IIi.
One of them is totally shot, the other kind of works but there is a bad connection on the connector that attaches to the XDA.
Does anyone have info on the pinout of this connector please?
I checked the XDA II service manual to no avail.
Hi Mr Fusion
I'm afraid not an answer but a sharing of problems - I have lost my backpack lead and can't get another. Did you find the pinout? Any ideas where I might get the connector?
Cheers
Jon
I was just looking for the pinout when I saw this post! amazing coincidence.
Anyway, I was wondering about making my own Wifi backpack, or possibly squeezing an sdio wifi card inside the case on this connector.
But, I need the pinout before I can even hope to try.
To the guy with the dead backpack, how much did you pay? want to sell it cheap to me to experiment with?
Any of you who wants the complete kit plus 1Gb compact flash pm me.

I have no idea how much a motherboard would cost - fire a price and if it makes sense for me, I'm interested as my headphone jack is gone and I can't find it on its own.
Nice little store
If you would like to replace your main board there is a store by my house that has every peice that you need to build a new one. I live in taiwan. The parts range from $1.00-10.00. So, if you are in need of a special part let me know, maybe I can help.
Hi Cobb,
That would be great - I'm really looking for a headphone jack port as mine's gone and I had to eliminate it as the Uni was under the impression I had headphones connected at all time.
If you can check the price of this out, it would be cool.
Tks.
Sure

It is around $1.00-2.00 US. Just to let you know I used the female headphone connection from my Walkman. I will try to post a complete price list for the universal.
The parts are really cheap here, but sending them is not. Does anyone have any ideas how I could send replacement parts, and keep the price reasonable.
Any part that you want to replace should be less than $5.00 with exception to the screen, and the external housing.
For those of you with a broken USB female jack. While replacing mine I noticed that USB's are pretty standard. There seems to be two common types, I used the one from a 4port usb hub. I not had any problems yet.
I hope this helps. The prices I listed are for a single piece.
I have a full unit, everything is fine except for a usb connector that is FUBAR, Looking to get rid of the entire unit so I can buy a new one, shoot me a PM if anyone would like to purchase it or are selling a working unit.

Hi Cobb, how about that price list??? Just my guess, if parts are SO cheap, no transportation can be expensive!!! LOL
Anyways, what I´m looking for, is a new MoBo, you have any prices for them???
Thanks in advance, and congrats to all knowledged and not so knowledged ppl in this forum.

Hi, I am bumping this thread as I am in need of the mainboard now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm searching a motherboard too, if it's 128 Mb ugraded it's better for me, or if someone has a 128 Mb uni full working or with a broken LCD... please let me know.
I've made a new thread on the marketplace section too, you can write there or send me a PM. This is the link:

Hello,
My bluenagel's old broad connector cables have been broken. (at least one of they)
anyone know where could I buy?
I have been searching in ebay but I haven´t found anything
thanks a lot!
What are you looking for? Sync cables? A cradle?
None of these.
The iner cables/bus/ribbons (I don't know their correct name) that conect the screen and buttons with the "mother board"
take a loook:

thanks a lot
Ah, I see. Sorry, I suppose I can't really help you further with that. Your best bet might be to determine which cables exactly are broken and then exchange the whole defective units, i.e. button board, screen and/or digitizer.
well do u get a white screen or a glitchy lcd with garbage on it, i had the same problem...showed the phone to a relative mines getting repaired its supposedly the ribbons so m waiting till my phone comes back....if it works out for me u can let me know ill try and get hold of those cables and send em to u....the shopkeepers tell me to not spend on the cables cuz its pretty useless! they break easily again!
I changed the fascia on my arc yesterday, all seemed fine except... I damaged a component on the lower pcb(a cube about 3mm¤ on the board behind the buttons)and now the external speaker doesn't work. I've googled to try and find the part ID but can only find photos of the board, no schematics, or a list of chips, but it's not a chip. Does anyone know if it can be repaired or if the pcb can be bought anywhere? I'm going to buy a new phone in June/July, and I can just about live with vibrate only, but any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi Sinclair, can you post a photo of the damaged component(S) I have a large stock of SMC and can help you with the repair.

I'll do that shortly, thanks ;-)

I've uploaded a .png file but doesn't seem to be showing... I'll check and if necessary do it again It's showing on the pc so you should see the f*cker...
I found the image on a U.S. website, the full board is $12.99(no p&p quoted)but I'm reluctant to order anything from an online source that asks if I'm a new constomer...

Sorry I could not see on my phone last night, I have tried to zoom in, cant read the component details can you read them at your end? the IC will be the Audio amp and I think the two ringed components are resisters and the two gold pads on the PCB are speaker connections, can you confirm Sinclair and note anything on the two ringed components.
EDIT: Is it the board that's damaged or the component knocked off, if so, do you still have the component?
Also if they are resistors markings will either be formatted '103' or 'R068'.
The component was halved in two. Half is on the board, the other half is not... I'll open it up in an hour or so, once I've got rid of the hangover

Get the expresso down your throat, and some toast, then get your T6 screw driver out
Can you solder Sinclair?
Done it a few times before, I can get an iron and solder from someone. Need to take it apart anyway, think I've put the shielding on incorrectly as my WiFi only works within 6ft of the router...

I can't get a decent picture, the macro lens on my camera is only good for 100 cm so it's worse than the one I posted. Tried google, there are a few sellers on ebay/alibaba but they don't break down to individual components, only the board itself. On the board there's only the pcb identifiers but no individual tags, but it seems to be some kind of amplifier as it's part of the general audio path and the last component before it goes to the speaker. I've attached a zoom of the original but it's not any better resolution. Thanks for your help, btw, but don't trouble yourself too much. Might buy a board, plus when I searched Ebay there were a few Arc S's going for attractive prices. Or might just go for the Xperia S if my coupon comes up
ps yeah, wifi antenna wasn't snapped in properly

As its a balanced output, you can short out the broken resister with a single strand of wire you will get a reasonable output (not perfect) you will have to scrape off the solder resist paint (green) from the side where the broken resistor(unless you can still get on the pad) and solder the wire from there to the good side of the resistor.
Ps can you read the number on the good resistor?
Thanks, wasn't sure if I could bypass anything but I'll get some wire & an iron and give it a shot. I'll let you know how I get on, probably tomorrow pm as it'll involve another trip to the pub...

Found it, thanks. Upon trying to obtain a suitable iron, nobody has one fine enough for this kind of work so I'll go for the board. And, tbh, I'd probably solder the flux to my finger anyway. So I'll continue celebrating Rangers misfortune... Sorry you never got 3 pts yourselves.
sinkster©
Watched Uniteds match on Alba, didn't deserve 3 pts, lets hear how you get on with the board on g+, win against Hibs 17 pts clear, they should have had the 10 pt deduction at the start of next season, as they went into voluntary liquidation when it suited them (they wouldn't have done it if they were 5pts clear of Celtic at the time).
