Are you rooted?,are you S-OFF or S-ON on the bootloader?if your rooted you should'nt have a problem installing the rom,you dont have to update your hboot. You might however need to partition your sd card, some roms require it,to work correctly.

I am rooted and I am s-off. I also did partition my sd card before attempting to flash the ROM. the partition I did was swap size 32mb - 1024. And upgraded from ext2 to ext3 if that makes a difference. when I try to flash the ROM it says installation aborted. If it has nothing to do with hboot can it be the zip file than?

Did you check the MD5sum to make sure they match, your file could be corrupted.
How do I check md5sum. And if the file is corrupted is there a fix for it? Sorry I'm new to root and Android coming from Apple which is like two different worlds so I'm still learning somethings

I am currently running SkyRaider3 RC3 with a radio 1.00.03.04.06 which has been modified to permit AP tether. How do I flash the newest 2.15.x radio? Just throw the .zip on the SD root and flash it in Clockwork? I am also S-OFF.
Thank you.
Go Here
Download the file in the first post. Place on root of sdcard, meaning /sdcard/. Reboot phone into hboot. It will automatically detect the update and ask if you would like to apply it. Select Yes and let the update commence.
This will take a very long time. Probably 10 min or so. DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY OR DO ANYTHING TO DISRUPT THE UPDATE. I suggest putting your phone down, and leaving it there till it's done.
Also, there is no such thing as a stupid question, your just trying to learn, although a search would have probably helped you out
Thank you for replying :]
Loaded that file onto the root of my SD card, restart into hboot, and while it detects the file, it says something about there being something wrong with the image. I can't read it very well - some messages scroll quickly, then disappear, leaving just the hboot menu. Tried redownloading twice and no difference. Strange.
I assume that I'm not supposed to extract anything from PB31IMG.zip?

Your sdcard has to be formatted FAT32. Back ur sdcard up to ur PC and reformat the whole card fat32. Then put all files back on and try again.

Here is a Mac thread discussing FAT32: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?ac=375750
FAT32 is a format which works with both Macs and PCs - should be very easy is the consensus.
I haven't yet flashed the 2.15 radio - have been doing some bandwidth speed tests on my 1.x radio, and speeds seem very solid... not sure if I should bother with the flash after all...
This is very easy is you have S-OFF. just download the PB31IMG.zip file place on root of SD CARD and boot into HBOOT then follow the steps.

hi everyone,if i may ask how is hboot done and also how to turn s-off
hi i flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806321
and now it just will start the boot img and nothing more :S but i started revocery mode and flashed my rom again but same as before, and i tried to wipe everything "and i mean everything" and flashed a rom after but same as before :S what should i do? should i flash a ruu? i tried to download some ruus from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 but they just come to 1-15%and then they just shut down :S and can someone download http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...io_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe and send it to me? so i can try to reflash with ruu. thanks in advance!
Have you flashing bravo-boot-v1.5.3-CustomMTD.zip AFTER you flashed the new ROM images? If not, could you try that, please?
If that doesn't work.. try following all the instructions in the post again, using a ROM image that you know will work.

Flash a ruu, it will return your device to normal! Do you have s-off? In future make sure the system partition size u set is big enough for all your /system/ data, i suggest leaving 10mb extra aswell just to be sure

My Dad wants to root his unlocked Desire (That used to be mine FYI) and install CM7, but when I gave it to him I installed the leaked GB RUU which un-rooted it because he didn't want root at the time. I can re-root the device with revolutionary.io but what about a custom Hboot once it's s-off'd and rooted? (more specifically CM7r2)

download from there, instructions on how to flash using fastboot or zip from hboot are given there too.
alternatively programs like android flasher can do the same thing, though not used it myself.
Yes I'm on cm7r2 hboot now and everything works, plus if you plan to install cm7 rom it's even better 'cause you avoid wasting space in /system and get more space in /data, right where you need it

Sure if it is corrupted, if it's a correct hboot taken straight from alpharev there will be less risks. Still, there is always a risk involved when you play with hboots but my experience so far was good

just make sure you check the md5 sums provided before you flash them, with some tool on the net somewhere. it's possible to do so directly on the phone but i dunno how.
virtually eliminates the chances of a bad flash. i've never had any problems flashing hboots

Have you read ANY of the hundreds of posts regarding being stuck after flashing a new Rom?
Obviously not, because if you had, you would have found out by now, like the others that you must manually flash the boot.IMG that is inside the Rom after flashing it.

The md5 is the same as the one I had downloaded before, I have 4ext and I used the wipe all partitions except sdcard method, and just flashed it.
Is it possible that froyo can't boot from ext4 partitions? As the wipe wipes data, system, cache as ext4.

Hi,
I got a DHD from my coworker. It hangs on a CM7 bootscreen after his son tried to install CM.
As he said I could keep it I thought I would give the repair a try.
I read on the forums but I am not sure atm on how to proceed.
When I start it while holding VOlume down it I see
Code:
*** UNLOCKED ***
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-boot
Dec 22 2011, 14:28:19
ClockworkMod 5.8 is installed but I cant mount anything. E: Can't mount /sdcard/
Could somebody advise me what the easiest way would be to make the DHD usable again?
Thanks,
Kiesel
I don't know what he did to it, but flashing a ROM in recovery without flashing the kernel in fastboot on an S-On device will make it hang on boot. Either flash the CM7 kernel in fastboot or do both steps with a new ROM.
thanks, that was my first thought but I didnt want to make the situation any worse. Will that work even if CWM says it cant mount /sdcard?
I would try flashing the kernel of the existing CM7 ROM in fastboot first. If that doesn't work, figure out the SD card mount. You could try another recovery.
I flashed the boot.img, thats what you meant, isnt it? Thats at least what I saw in other threads I read. Didnt work out though. I will read about over recovery mods and then try those.

This thread maybe help you a little bit if you didn't read it already:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528925
CyanogenMod ROM is just a option. You can install what ever ROM you want.
Did you try: format the cache, data and system partitions, wipe the Dalvik cache?

Yeah, flash the boot.img from fastboot. If that doesn't work try another recovery; maybe another recovery will mount the sdcard properly. (I find that easier than trying to fix a specific problem because I'm lazy.) 4ext and TWRP are good options.
You need to mount the sdcard to flash an entire ROM from the recovery. You could also unzip a ROM and flash the partitions individually from fastboot, but I'd do that as a last resort.
I tried TWRP but it had the same problem. Ext4 is next.
I also heard about using a RUU. would that maybe work?

No, because you will get error 140. You can't use ruu on unlocked phone.
Only thing you can do with ruu is that you can use stock rom.zip from it and flash it from sdcard or via fastboot.
If you flash it from sdcard, you must rename it to PD98IMG.zip
Sory for my bad english.
Ah, ok.
I will try that tomorrow, I am not at a PC atm. Can I otherwise somehow repartition the internal sd?
