desire brick or brok?!?!?! - Desire General

hi i flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806321
and now it just will start the boot img and nothing more :S but i started revocery mode and flashed my rom again but same as before, and i tried to wipe everything "and i mean everything" and flashed a rom after but same as before :S what should i do? should i flash a ruu? i tried to download some ruus from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 but they just come to 1-15%and then they just shut down :S and can someone download http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...io_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe and send it to me? so i can try to reflash with ruu. thanks in advance!

Have you flashing bravo-boot-v1.5.3-CustomMTD.zip AFTER you flashed the new ROM images? If not, could you try that, please?
If that doesn't work.. try following all the instructions in the post again, using a ROM image that you know will work.

Flash a ruu, it will return your device to normal! Do you have s-off? In future make sure the system partition size u set is big enough for all your /system/ data, i suggest leaving 10mb extra aswell just to be sure

Reboot bootloader, select recovery, restore a nandroid, or flash a rom. It wipes the kernel when you change hboot

i dont have a recent nandroid but i do have a kernel on my sdcard could i just flash it?
Just do an advanced restore of the boot partition.

I haven't delved much into custom ROMs yet - but AFAIK you should be able to just run this straight over the top - it will remove root etc. right back to stock

Cell info:
Bravo PVT1 S-on
Radio: 5.11.05.27
HBOOT: 0.93.0001
MICROP-031d
Baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
OS version: 2.3.4
Mod: GingerVillian
kernel version: 2.6.38.4
This is all the information I could find for the cell. Dont know what any of it means The RUU I got from another section is: RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5.exe
Can I install this RUU on my phone to return it to STOCK FROYO?

Use some logic...the RUU file is an .exe, which is a Windows program. This would mean you have to run it on Windows. Then you'd be presented with instructions for the rest. Use a little common sense
why not try another custom rom . it's great fun

As above - it actually has full instructions while running the RUU.
but for basics you click something like 'I agree to return my phone back to the stock image, and confirm that I know it will wipe all user data etc. etc'
Then click accept to 'I agree that it must be above 50% battery life, and connected to the PC via USB cable' - then I think it verifies that it can find the phone, then says something about it will replace the current image with the stock image (2.29.405.5), then basically just says wait a couple of minutes, your phone reboots and flashes for a few minutes (I think with a big HTC logo and a progress bar), then when it's done it says DONE! and your phone reboots into the welcome wizard as if you turned it on for the first time...

Different HBOOT TYPES.

Hi all. I'm new to this world so asking a, may be silly, question.
I play with roms every now and then. Change my rom from one to another in couple of weeks. I found STOCK HBOOT OFFERS LESS INTERNAL SPACE THAN CM7 OR CM7r2 hboots for custom roms.
I haven't experimented yet with these things. Can someone tell me how to convert my hboot to cm7 or cm7r2? I haven't done anything with my hboot so I suppose I'm on stock hboot. Difference between cm7 and cm7r2?
Any drawbacks of doing this? And will be able to flash app2sd and data2ext normally as I do now?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
The difference is that the hboot versions offer you a diffrent internal partition layout
you can look them up http://alpharev.nl/ <-- there
also you can download it from there
You can flash it via fastboot or via the PB99IMG.zip method or you simply use android flasher(recommanded, it´s selfexplaining)
Is there any chance of bricking my phone?
When I switch between roms sometimes I get stuck in boot loops. *no worries*
I just pull out the battery. Reboot in recovery and restore nandroid backup.
In this case I'm cautious because if I'm stuck where would I go because I'm playing with hboot. I think I won't be able to access recovery in that case, right?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You can brick it if your downloaded hboot.img is not downloaded correcly
If you are in a bootloop you simply go into fastboot and flash the correct table(hboot) and flash your ROM
and yes you will be able to boot into recovery(if youre in a bootloop)

If your download was corrupt or you pulled the cable in the seconds during the flashing period then you'd most probably brick your phone, but during my time on this forum I have never heard of any such misfortunes occurring..
By the way instead of posting try searching... this is just common knowledge info and can be found with a quick google search or a visit to alpharev.. it really isn't hard and not really worth posting a new thread about.

The nandroid needs to have the HBOOT you had, when you made that nandroid.
So if U had STOCK HBOOT when making a nandroid wich U like to go back to, then flash STOCK HBOOT - BEFORE - U nandroid back.
So for now... flash the HBOOT U want, and then right after the ROM.
And if U wanna restore your nandroid, then flash STOCK HBOOT, and then restore nandroid.
AND remember... U CAN NOT FLASH RADIO IF U ARE ON CM7R2 HBOOT,
that will brick your phone.
So flash RADIO before, OR do the procedure with ADB if U are already on CM7R2.

This is very awkward if you still managed to flash cm7r2 even though md5sum didn't match.
I haven't tried it yet. Will give a try tomorrow.
Every rom has mentioned which hboots are compatible. You can check it from there.

You do realise... the point of an md5 match is so that you know the thing that is uploaded.. is exactly the same thing that you downloaded... so... when it matches "hooray lets flash away"... when it doesn't "holy mother of god get the hell of my computer"... you sure you used it right?

[SOLUTION] So your Marvelc is refusing to flash a ROM

Okay I've been getting reports of roms not flashing right for the marvelc. So I set out for a solution and found one I believe. One issues with some roms, is that people have been doing it wrong since they got the phone. From Gsm recovery to even gsm roms. They used cmtd a very bad idea ect ect. So now, id like to present my method for fixing all of this. First, soff your hboot, then upgrade and unlock. install custom recovery and wipe all of the partitions. Then reboot to fastboot and flash the recovery posted bellow. Report back with any findings
http://goo.im/devs/simonsimons34/marvelc/cm9/tests/recovery.img
I was just wondering if you could give step by step instructions to flashing the recovery.img. File.
Download it. Rename to recovery.img. Place in the same directory as fastboot and adb.
Put your phone into fastboot (adb reboot bootloader).
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Simonsimons34 I have tried many things but this CWM actually let me flash a rom your great!! thanks so much and this worked for me
Glad to hear it this recovery has all the bugs with flashing and backups fixed so you should be good for the life of the phone

Have you read ANY of the hundreds of posts regarding being stuck after flashing a new Rom?
Obviously not, because if you had, you would have found out by now, like the others that you must manually flash the boot.IMG that is inside the Rom after flashing it.

Are you getting it from a reputable source, specifically http://get.cm/?device=ace? If so, that's all I've got.

Which is the wipe process you use?
Which is the flash process you use?
Also, re-download the rom, check the md5 and flash only the rom, then boot.

I get PMs or see messages every now and then from people who either:
1. Downloaded a file from god-knows-where labeled as CM or Ace ROMs.
2. Downloaded a ROM for another device.

The md5 is the same as the one I had downloaded before, I have 4ext and I used the wipe all partitions except sdcard method, and just flashed it.
Is it possible that froyo can't boot from ext4 partitions? As the wipe wipes data, system, cache as ext4.
