Which one: HTC surround vs HTC hd7 - Windows Phone 7 General

I'm a android man and wanna try wp7 I got two picks the surround and hd7 which one is better and why I want pros and cons thanks
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

Well since u are on AT$T I'll say the HD7S because not only does it have a bigger screen than the surround it also has a better one (SLCD vs LCD). It was also ruled that the speaker the surround has is tinny and no better than TV speakers.

What about the T-Mobile hd7 vs the surround I no about the data but I use wifi
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

Pretty much weighs down to whether or not u want the larger screen, supposedly the hd7 also has more ram than the surround (512 vs 256)

Surround sucks.

Thanks any main reason why? I just wanna know because I'm trying to trade my Samsung vibrant for a wp7 phone
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

As said before it's pretty much down to whether or not u want the larger screen, both have the same internals and will run games and apps equally. If I were u tho I would try to see if u can get the HD7S since that's the AT$T model.

Is Samsung Focus not an option? It's much better then any of the two phones you mentioned.

I just got a focus its really nice another question how long does the first update take on zune?
Sent from my NXM726HN using XDA App

since there's nothing on the device they all should go quick. Since u have the focus and if ur planning to use the micro SD card from ur vibrant. Make sure u put it in before setting up the focus

If i were you, i would wait for Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 instead my friend.

I really suggest looking into the Titan or Titan II. Titan II if you want LTE and a better camera, or the Titan if you want regular 4G with better battery life.

Read 2 reviews for the surround that aren't filled with corporate or market-speak and you'll buy -anything- instead.
Good luck !

Is there special way the sd card has to be formatted? Thanks I'm nee to the wp7 game
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

I've been using a Surround as my primary smartphone since it was released and I have absolutely no complaints about it. It's fast, fluid and runs Mango perfectly. The speaker is a little tinny, but so is the speaker on my EVO3D. I use Beats earbuds, and the sound is excellent.

Hd7

Should I???

Hello great peoples of the Galaxy Nexus. I own and just purchase a HTC Sensation. After seeing the Galaxy Nexus drop to 399$ unlocked, I just can't help my self! Here's my issue, I'm about to buy a home and thats a big thing by it's self and I don't need to be spending money if I don't have to, but man 399$ that's great! So, It's not about money It's about the bang for the buck! Now, I own a Sensation witch is a dual core as well as the Galaxy Nexus. I also own a Nexus S so, I do know about the pure Vanilla smoothness, but come on guy's, please give me some good advice because I really need it...thanks!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
$399 for the Galaxy Nexus is like buying a Lamborghini Reventon for a $100.000, in other words is very cheap for what the phone actually does.
The Galaxy Nexus costs around 600 bucks here where I'm at.
It is great value for money, but seriously, if you don't need it, don't buy it. Spend your money on useful things.

You are so right! But do you think the Sensation and the Galaxy Nexus are the same level CPU/GPU wise???

its a great phone but if you already have Nexus s then get/wait for a quadcore phone.

Or sell your other two and buy the galaxy nexus. You may even come out on top.

Yes, sounds like a good compromise. Regarding your other question, I think the CPU of the GNexus is quite a lot better than the one of the Sensation. Didn't look it up though.
Hi,
I own both...The HTC Sensation is not a bad phone but it starts to get "old".
And the Sensation is not verry good compared to the Gnex:
The Sensation isn't smooth, fluid and fast as the Gnex even with ICS and custom ROM/kernel,when I use the Sensation then Gnex and vice versa...OMG!!!
Even with a stock ROM/kernel the Gnex is better on many points mostly if you look in UI.
Sense is nice but it bloats the phone, even with a de-Sense ROM or CM9 it's not faster, smoother than the Gnex.
So no the Sensation and the Gnex are not at the same level for CPU/GPU,you can overclock it (the Sensation) you will not have the same level of UI...
I like HTC,less Samsung but fore these two phones the Gnex is the first.
Ressells your Sensation and buy a Gnex
Priorities are priorities my friend. Once you get that house and got done with settling in I promise you this phone will be cheaper on ebay or amazon NEW. google has set the mark now competitors have to beat it. It's the free Market so just wait. And besides when you DO get done with your stuff you will have enough time and money for the new quad core phones. Patience is your friend, friend ( as they say here on xda frequently )

All depends on your software choice guy. And the look of the phone honestly. Choose wisely. You have lots of time. Neither are going anywhere anytime soon.

I honestly think the nexus will be much smoother than you think and I'd go for the nexus.

This. Wait until the market stops reeling from Google's announcement yesterday and compensates for the price drop. There is no rush especially when buying a home is your main priority, believe me I know.

Sensation user looking at GNex

Anybody coming from Sensation? What is your experince with Gnex when comparing against Sensation?
Things that are most important to me are:
Camera, GPS, Screen quality, Reliability, Call quality.
Can anyone who had a Sensation and now owns a Gnex comment on these?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
I came from a sensation all all the things you mentioned works fine, including BT.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I did, and in my opinion its an upgrade. The only problem that I have is the sound (ringtones, call quality) is low. The screen is nicer than the sensation and the phone is lighter, no problem whatsoever with the GPS. And it has a great community working on development if your into rooting and such. Plus already rocking jelly bean. Which is an upgrade in os.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Oh yeah camera is as good maybe a little better than the sensation.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the answer.
Can you tell me if the camera takes good quality pictures since it is a 5 mp camera.
Can you or somone else elaborate on each of these when comparing to Sensation?

Is it lower than Sensation's?
It was low on the Sensation already.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
I don't take a lot of pictures but do believe the picture quality is better than the sensation but that could also be that the screen quality is a lot nicer, and as far as the call quality its a little worse for me but I'm on Tmobile and live in lousy reception area.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Imho camera on sensation was better that is all Gnex is a definite upgrade for me screen is much clearer I really can't think of anything the sensation could even come close in comparison not to mention the ease of unlocking rooting and running the latest and greatest from Google when it drops from source not ported the best thing I did was switch from HTC to the Gnex my calls are clear and Imo better gps spot on quick I sold my sensation about 1 week after getting Gnex
Sent from my NexusHD2 using xda premium
I have just come from the sensation a week ago and haven't looked back, its simply in another league, I also chose it over the s3 and one x which imo were a massive disappointment
sent from a galaxy far, far away
Gnex is the best phone, better then sensation. Cause its 100% android no tweak means more fast in terms of sotware. And the UI is clean. Faster update best screen quality.what else do you want?
Sent from my MZ601 using xda app-developers app
It sounds like a you're more interested in the camera aspect of the phone. The sensation has a better camera then the GNEX. But the GNEX is far better in the software department. I came from the sensation and was blown away on how easy the learning curve is for ICS and now JB. But if I was going to choose camera over updated software, I would have you upgrade the HTC One X. That phone is a solid shooter and you're already used to HTC sense

Well the camera is definitely important to me, but I saw some amazing shots from the picture thread with the Nexus.
I am running CM9 on my Sensation though because i don't like Sense much, is so buggy and slow.

Came from sensation about two months ago and I have never looked back, best choice I ever made the camera is actually better cause of the lens and fact that there is no shutter lag I still have my sensation and sometimes I will play with it and it doesn't even compare, go for it

Best invention ever! It would be awesome if other phones came like that. Easy to watch TV and everything. Not spending money on a case!
#Galaxy Nexus HSPA+
I'm running a rezound right now but sometimes I get nostalgic and pull out the old htc ttyn 2 and my touch pro, I miss the tilting sliders for long winded emails. Also wouldn't mind having another magnetic stylus port. A dedicated camera button should be on every phone in my opinion. I just like features, even if they're rarely used.

Days of battery life. lol
Also, hardware keyboard.
In fact, best cell phone I've ever used was my old Blackberry Bold 9650.
Limited in applications, but as a "phone", for talk, text, emails, etc. nothing has even ever come close to that phone.
VERY occasionally I miss running a non-Nexus phone and finally getting function xyz from AOSP to work on it.
How about real personal information management? Back in the pocket pc days you could attach contacts and tasks to calendar events...pretty much link anything to anything. Which goes to show that the smartphone has definitely been dumbed down. Oh and I also miss the trackball for text editing. Note to keyboard developers: please make an option too long press a key that pops up a track pad.

Need an extra opinion.

So. I've got a friend who tonight just offered to trade a 32gb HTC One X International for my AT&T 16gb Galaxy S3. I've already got two friends saying it's a good trade, and I'm inclined to agree because of the Tegra 3 and the LCD screen. Just curious to see what anyone else thought and if they'd give a thumbs up or down.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Yes its a good trade. Tegra 3 and 32 gb, but you will NOT get LTE with the hox, is this a deal breaker?
Also the battery life on the hox is a lot less than the s3, but if rooted there are a couple of roms that utilize battery use very well.
Another good reason to trade is the latest sense, its brilliant.
Check the hox thoroughly, make sure its a perfect runner before you swap.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Don't now about circumstances in us, but here in Germany its not good, better to sell your galaxy s3 on ebay or Craig list and buy hox, it'll give you some extra bucks
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Check what your network uses. GSM or CDMA. If you haven't, go read some reviews. I've been debating getting the one x international myself but I've read the battery life is god awful.
Been holding out on getting a new phone since I wanted one with a decent physical keyboard and other specs. Since HTC decided they don't want to anymore and I love sense its hard to look at anything else. Can't stand AOSP stock look or touchwiz for sure though personally.

Your out to date, mate. The battery life with last stock rom is pretty good. With 4-5 screen on time hox can live for a hole day. Gaming will cause some battery drain, bur even playing 1,5hrs Sega virtua tennis my phone gives me 3hrs screen on time.
P. S. : typing on 4,7 display with swiftX keyboard is such a pleasure after some time it collects your type of lexicon and it becomes really hard to use something other than that (ok, full qwerty is still nice on PC, but everything alse kind of suxx)

That's the thing with the Note (I or II) - they are UNIQUE and every other ecosystem will be jealous until they get their own "Big Daddy" of phones

Buy the HTC HD2 and get a dual Windows/Android boot.
Also the the Exynos chip details being released, the chances of a sd card dual boot could be a reality. The type that might allow WP/Android dual boots.
get an hd2. we even got f'king meego working on it lol.

the Nokia Lumia 920 is a gorgeous phone. If I were a big fan of Windows like the OP I would be all over that. I'd love to see Windows perform well in the smartphone market. More competition the better.
While we cannot get Windows Phone 8 on this device, we can make your phone look like Windows Phone 8. Check out Launcher 7 or Windows Phone 8 launcher. I think there is one for Windows 8 also.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I used my Note 1 with Launcher 7 almost exclusively. But it's oudated now - no small tiles, which would be great on the big screen. I'm waiting.
The Windows 8 mentioned above, if it's the same one I've tried, it's an ad fest (you get notification for ads even with adfree installed, terrible, disgusting app.
