[Kernel]ZedomaxEpicTouchKernelStock[v1][SU3][CWM][BootAnim][Init.d][Root]

I wanted to really start from scratch so I went through some of the Samsung open source code and found that there were some unnecessary modules being loaded. That could be what's causing some problems (although I haven't had much but think it's signal related or Sprint's towers being updated), but with no overclocking and the changes, it could solve everything? Dunno still.
So I tried my best to trip the bloat-code out and try to keep it as stock as possible (no overclock), perhaps some of you can test this out for me.

- Superuser 3.0 + fixed su, now installs in /system/bin, you can update the binaries with SuperUser app.
- init.d support (/system/etc/init.d)
- Bootanimation support
- fixed Airplane toggle
Things to test:
- LOS?
- Video out? - sorry my video out adapter is still being shipped, I think I enabled it but can't really check???
-Airplane toggle should be fixed
Things I am working on:
- Boot splash logo? Still working on that, if anyone knows how to change it, please let me know.
- Recompiling CWM from scratch, add external SD support, fix wipe issue
- Add infrastructure to wifi tether and USB tether?

Odin'ed it over StarBurst 1.2, seems to work good but only been using it for 2min

Boots up. Will be testing until I can get mine to work, but I think I had the same intent as yours does. Boots into CWM just fine too.

Flashed fine over 4.1beta. Seems to be working well, airplane mode working. Under 4.1 I seem to suffer routine LOS when on the road but not when at home, so it may take a while to fully test but so far so good.

my understanding was that signal strength and quality was taken care by the radios/modems, not the kernel...

Root is still messed up for me with your kernel Zedomax, so please make one that doesn't have root or even busybox(unless it's needed for the recovery) as root & busybox can be added through CWM if the user wants

great work zedo! i'll test it out once i get back to work. somehow i left ALL my micro usb cables at work like an idiot.

I had the LOS today, had to restart my phone three times in the span of three hours. So, being frustrated, I booted in to CWM, wiped my davlik and flashed back to v1.1. Then I wiped davlik again, flashed back to v1.2 and rebooted. Haven't have a LOS issue since. So far so good...

I personally think CWM is causing some issues right now... no evidence behind it, just a suspicion.

CWM probably can't cause issues since it's in recovery, it doesn't fire up unless u r actually in recovery but CWM we all using right now have issues as they are based off SG2 CWM binaries. Someone has to compile a CWM for Epic4GT from scratch or at least hack it. I am gonna try that soon but compiling kernels is just taking too much time, I've been 24/7 compiling for like a whole week, get no other work done, i seriously need to go out to a rave and get f--ed up for couple days. Then my head will be clear, compiling will be fun.

im having data issue and i keep getting an error

This rom looks likt it has all the options I want. But looking through the other forum people are having issues with keeping data connections open. Will wait for this one unless another rom comes around with all these options.

Want to try this out, but will wait until data is fixed.

Don't be scared to flash, this is why we got a Google phone. The data issue is a known issue with the phone/LTE network in general. Make a backup and flash what you want and see what happens.
My impression of this ROM is that it is very fast and smooth. Everything works except wireless tether, and I think NFC but I don't use that. Roman claims to have created a fix for the data drop and I would have to agree that the issue is much better. I used to have to leave the 4G off, I'm in a marginally covered zone, but with this ROM I'm seeing much better 4G.

So just a quick question: Why wont this won't brick our phones? Why have their been so many people with bricked phones for flashing international ROMs?

Because this is just the kernel & system files. If they flashed the complete tar(modem, bootloader, etc), then they definitely will cause a lot of issues

When you get that one bastardized kernel, it'll be good for all international ports to use for awhile til we get source

It has it's issues, front cam doesn't work(main cam works tho), rotation is inverted, no data, no wifi, etc but at least we get a feel for what the official ICS update will be like once it's released. If we get a working kernel, then fixing those issues wouldn't be that hard as I have fixed them before on the EVO ports but until we get a kernel, I'm not even going to start trying

Kernel is the problem. Need to try to compile a kernel that will align the hardware with ICS

Yep, although if you wait for it to unfreeze, you can then move around momentarily, before it freezes again...so far I can see that it DOES NOT have the face unlock, and other than settings, popup\menus and the Gmail app, which you can notice a difference right away, even without emails in it, it looks pretty much the same being that its TWIZ and not AOSP!

For many many reasons, not least of which was no significant progress towards ICS (which at that point needed CM7 as a prerequisite). Hopefully with the system files maybe someone can drag up that kernel and see if they can be made to work together but I think it is a CM kernel and I'm not sure that could be made to play with this...

The kernel we compiled for that does not work with this. Were going to see if we can get it going though.

No Theme​
TO INSTALL
- Make a Nand Backup
- Download rom.zip and place on sdcard
- Boot into clockwork recovery
- DO A FULL WIPE 3 DAMN TIMES!
- Install zip from sdcard
- Once zip has finished installing, reboot
- Now wait a minimum of 10 minutes, seriously...
- Reboot
ALSO I SUGGEST
After waiting 10 mins from first boot, batch restore all apps with data
THEN REBOOT
Then go and restore the user data like mms, contacts, wifi etc.
THEN REBOOT INTO RECOVERY and wipe cache, dalvik and fix permissions
Let the Rom settle for 5 mins after home screen boots.
This sequence will ensure a more stable system.
And also, Freeze wifi sharing and wifi sharing manager
and try it WITHOUT any OC apps first, if you followed all the above instructions it
should sleep very efficiently and be very responsive.
If your device is bricked at any time during the use of this rom I cannot be held responsible.

Good to see you back I ran your rom since you posted it and it worked great had a couple little issues but really smooth and had great battery life for me. I imagine you had an issue because of some apps which you had included? Either way don't matter to me but hope your rom is here to stay and you continue to work on it bro

So what am I doing wrong? After I restored dat.... I have no icons at top of screen. When I try to swype down it brings me to all my applications....

Not a big deal at all, but when the phone is in vibrate it seems to show the silent icon on the status bar. Still vibrates, but the icon is wrong. Is this just me?

Not sure how your observation is at all helpful or needed. I am sure he is aware of why it was taken down and I was not asking him that. I was asking if the reason it was taken down was addressed. Otherwise, it may be taken down again. I think it is a fair question and deserves an answer.

Well i believe it was only root explorer... You can always download the rom and see if it's in there. And if you fear the piracy police, just remove it. You shouldn't really be pressing for a question to be answered when it was just recently asked. Such demands makes you look arrogant.

Just flashed this ROM, excellent speed, battery life seems decent so far (3% drain standby per hour). I remember you put up SKYicecream in your old thread in the general forum, any chance of working with that particular ROM again? Thanks!

Scrolling - Scrolling is just fine but too fast! As result of that, hard to read/find what's moving during the scrolling (just for few millisecond, there's image overlapping - same image displayed twice - one is moving ahead and another one is following, echoing effect?)
Camera - I see that camera app has not been changed. Please report if you see any issue
Bluetooth - please test and report
Wifi wakeup issue - for any users having wifi wakeup issue, please report. Be sure that you don't have any battery saver app activated. Lots of times, batter saver app causes the problem on wifi (for example, wifi shows it's not connected but it's still connected, etc...)
Chrome browser users? Try with downloading newest version!

Agat from what I have seen usually pulls from SFHub or Calk unless I missed something? Calk and SFHUB almost always have the same builds around the same time but then there is that mixture of Sextape in the past that fragmented that a little.

That's true. It looks like kc_exactly also got the source access. So, he could be the first one also if he just pull out the original and release it.
As you've seen, Sextape moved to Gnex. So no hope for him...

This means that no OTA yet. I remember that someone told that there's OTA version available for every build. So, who knows until we see the open source!

I would guess there would have to be OTAs for each, for distribution to the testers. (ie, whomever they have testing that doesn't live in the labs. )

D'oh. Too soon. I like to savor a build for about 4 days before the next.

Dude seriously? I mean thats as old as FD24, that was so 172,800 second ago.
Its an OTA, an OTA thats not getting release. Run it you will lose root and be on a stock build that you can't OTA out of. Thats okay you odin your way out of it but.

I think some people are still having notification bug and maybe turbo scroll. 24 is working fine for me. Heck, all the builds are, i don't use notification sounds lol
