Ok so I was just looking in my devices section of my windows 7 pc and if you plug in your kin then open this then go to your device then to hardware then to details you can select anything like where items are stored in the devices root and I aslo think I figured out how to acces it. I am going to try this and report back. Anyone else who wants to go ahead and try it. There is no risk in viewing the files.

Pst. It wouldn't happen to be possible to download the ROM modules, would it?
What about the whole ROM? Anywhere to get this?

I just received a tmobile dash and had a couple questions for you guys.
What are the most functional modifications you guys have performed or the mods that you would recommend? I've read through some of the threads and i'm not sure where to begin, what will increase performance and use-ability?
I will primarily use the phone for internet, phone, messaging, and i would like to run pocketnes, but i have seen some of the themes you guys have and love the layouts.
Any advice you can offer about the phone, altering its performance (or making things easier or more accessible) is greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
I would suggest to go with the 6.1 rom which I have below. Its really nice and it has nice interface. In order to install the rom go to the link below, download, and run auto.bat on your phone. Then use the configurations I have posted below to configure your phone (like internet, mms, email, etc.). Let me know if you have any problems.
do i download this using my phone, or should i download it on a pc and then transfer it over?
thanks for the help
Download and then extract the file and plug your phone in and run auto.bat and it tells you what to do on the screen.
i bet you he gets an error... lol

I doubt it, because you'll need to run ActiveSync (Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista) to connect your Dash.
I have seen many people asking about bitpim and the kin phones and many with no solutions or answers to their questions. It IS possible to use bitpim to view the file system with these devices. I haven't seen any tutorials on how to do it so I've decided to post a step by step guide.
The things you will need:
Kin Two or Kin TwoM(I have not been able to test this on a Kin One or OneM)
A micro usb data cable
Bitpim
Drivers for the Kin available below
http://rapidshare.com/files/439206164/KinPixiPreCentroTreo800w_etc_DiagDrivers.zip
Don't worry about fixing the error in the qcser.inf, since I have already done this for you.
I would like to thank jennydevil for reminding us that these drivers are for 32-bit not 64-bit operating systems.
Step 1
On your kin device go to the phone application. Once there dial ##77647266488 and call. It will ask you for your Service Programming Code. The default code is 000000. You will now be in a menu labeled "SETTINGS". Navigate to OTHER and then swipe to the left. Here you will see PPro, USB Pass-Through, and USB VID Stream. All of these options will be off. You will want to turn USB Pass-Through on.
Step 2
Now connect your phone to your Windows PC. Your pc will try to find a driver called "Pink CDMA diagnostics" and will fail. Fear not. Open the start menu and right click on Computer then Manage. On the menu to the far left click device manager. In other devices you will see the Pink CDMA diagnostics. Right click it and press "Update Driver Software". Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software". Browse for the location of the drivers downloaded earlier and click next. It will show a warning that the drivers are not signed. Continue anyways.
Step 3
Now you are ready to open up bitpim. Set it to the same COM as the phone and make sure in the View menu that View Filesystem is checked. Now feel free to browse through the file system of your kin.
If you run in to any problems feel free to ask questions. If you have any ideas or information to make this tutorial more useful feel free to speak your mind.
Fantastic!!
This is a great start to making our kin experience much better! Thank you, and keep up the solid work! Your friends at Microsoft Kin Forums thank you aswell! Check our sites for updates that could help, and together we can make KIN the phone it truely can be!
social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/pmxphone/threads
link to MS kin forums (gotta add http)
Thank you for putting the tutorial together (and posting the pre-fixed drivers)! In case anyone else runs into the same hiccup I did - the drivers are for 32-bit OS, not 64-bit OS. Once I used the right system, the drivers and BitPim worked like a champ.
Thanks again!
I can see filesystem
Hey thanks, I can see the filesystem, I think? It says nothing is detected when I manually set the phone. I cannot "get phone data" but can read the filesystem.
.efs_private
CGPS_ME
CGPS_PE
DMU
...etc
But what does this all mean? Can I access ringtones/sounds to edit the list? Please all I want is to add and delete ringtones! Ugh why is this so difficult. Anybody know how to do this?

No at the moment you can't do that with BitPim but you can email a ringtone to your phone.
Help in step two
Can not find driver location on Windows Vista. I can get to Windows32 file/ then to driver file but new downloaded drivers as in step two.
Thanks
Ah ok, dang. Problem is...Kin has no function to delete ringtones. So once its on, its on forever. I just can't commit to that.
Moved to KIN two forum and stickied.
Also, fix the rapidshare link, the file seems to be unavailable.

Download the drivers extract them somewhere like a folder on your desktop. Let's call the folder kindrivers. Then when you are browsing to the files you would go to C: (or the drive vista is located on)/Users/Yourusername/desktop/kindrivers
Hope that helps.
Any chance we'll be able to get 64-bit drivers soon?

Not unless someone wants to take the time to write them.
After trying it myself I am not convinced that "we" are seeing anything. It states no phone is connected. There are no signs that I see anything from the phone. Keep trying and keep posting.

I am at a lost, I did all the steps, plus the driver download. Everything went fine. I can see what port the phone is using, and have it set on bitpim. When I go to detect the phone on bitpim, it can not find the phone. Have tried on two different computers and can not get it to work. Bitpim can not find the phone, any thoughts?

Bitpim won't find the phone you have to manually set it to the correct COMM port.
I found the com port in device manager. It has been set, but it says it can not still detect phone. When I do go to settings in bitpim, I go to Verzion Wireless, Motorola, and then Kim? Is that correct, there is no Kin just Kim,so is that the same thing?

It won't detect it. Just show the file system. Just set it to other cdma.
Hey, I'm about to be forced to get the Kin TwoM (its the best phone on Verizon without a data plan). Has there been any progress on the ROM dumping front? It seems like you would know. Thanks...
Just wanted to post in here saying that I just got myself a Kin TwoM this weekend without knowing anything about it's limitations or potential. I got it working with BitPim using this tutorial, but... yeah, I have no idea what to do now. I'll certainly be watching this board for anything cool that comes of this, though!
Well I have had my Kin Twom for more then a week. I am probably going to return it, its a shame because it is not a bad little phone. Microsoft and Verizon will be the death of this thing. Know what to do about my cell phone?

Hi all....
Just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet and have a question. When connected to my PC as a media device....I can see some of the files, but not ALL of the files (specifically the ones that start with a "."). Is there some setting on windows or android that would allow me to see ALL of the files and not just the ones that Android deems relevant?
Install SamsungLink on your PC and N10.1-14. It'll allow you to access all of your files on both devices from anywhere via Wi-Fi. It'll give you access to your PC files at the highest level of Windows directory structure.

Hey thanks. I tried this, but maybe I'm missing something. What I'm looking for is when I connect my tablet to my PC, I want to be able to see into the "dot" directories (the ones that start with a period). I cannot see that currently.

SamsungLink provides top-level directory access to the devices it's loaded on. I can see all my files on my PC and Android devices. I've never looked for anything like you've described so can't really provide any new detail.
I have been looking online for 3 days trying to get a definite answer on one thing. Is there anyway I can recover pictures off the phone.
The short is that the phone froze and would not respond. Pushing the power button for a while and then let off it rebooted but stuck on the Samsung screen. Most people respond to similar issues to do a factory reset which wipes your data.
I saw one other forum that discussed finding someone witha JTAG rig but I dont think i am going to have access to this and dont know anyone who does. They also mentioned ADB but i am not sure if i can use this or not. I do have drivers installed for my device on the PC and when I plug the phone in it recognized that a device has been plugged in and the drivers loaded but i did show that 'MTP USB Device' failed.

When I started to crate this thread i saw about 5 similar threads. None of them answered my question. One that was linked from it confuses me though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/flashing-rom-s3-change-setting-t1958368
So I have ADB and fastboot installed on my box. I want to give something a try but i am just not sure exactly what direction to start in to hopefully reach my goal of getting the phone up so i can grab the pics via USB. I saw where ADB could have uses such as 'pull' which could pull data off so hypothetically it could be possible to say pull the contents of the dir off but again not sure.

So, even when I buy a GS3 or any other phone i usually have 1gig or so for the OS and then an internal storage for keeping data. So my thought, and I understand I could be wrong here, is that I SHOULD be able to flash the current factory image (like overwriting the existing) or along side the existing without touching the internal storage with the data (the 16/32gigs). I want to give something a try and not lose the pics. I would certainly appreciate some links to help me figure out what to do next. Thanks in advance.
Sprint SPH-L710 stock, un-rooted without 3rd party recover (TWRP, etc). I can boot into recovery and get a 'no command' message. Deleting cache has not helped. Leaving batt out for a while has not helped. I think its running 4.3.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
You will definitely need to ask the experts who own your device for help on this, so I will have your thread moved to your device section.
Good luck!
I have an HTC M8 phone and I set a pattern lock, and then stupidly forgot what it was. Everyone has been telling me to do a factory reset, but some of my photos are not backed up anywhere and I do not want to lose them. I need help either figuring out how to get into my phone, or how to recover the pictures that are on my locked phone. I have my Google account information, but that does not seem to be any help really. Please help!
Thank you!
Do you have a custom recovery? Even if not you should be able to boot to recovery, connect to pc, and in cmd prompt where your adb is(usually platform-tools in the Android sdk) type
adb pull /sdcard
That will download your entire sdcard to your computer. Could also just do adb pull /sdcard/DCIM to only get the camera pictures, other pics are in /sdcard/Pictures

After you enter the wrong pattern enough times, does the phone give you the option to sign on via your Google login?
Be aware that the security passwords and patterns exist for a reason, and its not commonly discussed here how to circumvent them. Such knowledge can be used by criminals that steal phones.
Also, I know this doesn't solve your issue, but its far too common to see posts like this. Waiting for a disaster to happen is not the right time to realize you should have been backing up your data. With all the options (SD card, sync to PC, cloud solutions - some built in) there is really no excuse not to be doing so.

No , it does not give me that option which is frustrating as that is what many have told me to do. And yes I know, I'm kicking myself for not backing everything up. It has been a few months since I uploaded everything to my laptop. And at this point I was trying any possible option, and was given this forum to try to find help.
I am not sure to be honest... I'm not very knowledgeable about all this which is why I am having such a hard time. How do I boot to recovery? And every time I connect to my pc, it wont let me get any photos from the phone.

If the phone is stock (never rooted, bootloader unlocked, etc.); and you don't know what custom recovery is, than you don't have it.
