I noticed in cm9 alpha 3 that the front facing camera really sucks and thought it was cm9 because it was still alpha then I went to cm7 and even previous alphas of cm9 and nightlies from cm7 still no change but when I go to a tw based rom the camera quality is a lot better.
EDIT: I went back to cm7 nightly 28 with samurai kernel and the camera quality is amazing compared to cm9....is there a way to port the cm7 files to cm9

I have used CM roms on other devices but not on the sgh-t989. I was noticing as one now there is only CM9 nightlys and a RC2.
One thing that I remember on the CM9 were the bugs in playing videos from gallery that were HD 1080, as well as recording with the front facing camera.
Also I hate how the GPS is flaky on some CM releases.
So how is CM9 on the T989 as in what are the current bugs?

Hey guys not sure if this has been asked but can the MIUI camera be used on CM9? If so, could someone advise me?
ThanksInAdvance
EPIC 4G - CYANOGEN(mod) 9
Works great for me on CM9.1.

Cool. Is it just a matter of pulling the camera APK out of one of the v4 MIUI ROMs, delete ICS camera, then push the MIUI camera in system/app, set permissions, and done?

I just installed the apk and it worked fine. I can't remember where the thread is that has the apk download.

Yes.
Or you can install Both like i have it. the MIUI camera will crash some times & theirs no FFC or Panorama mode. Its really to bad no one ever got the samsung camera ported to work on ASOP Roms. cm's Camera dose not let one of the best parts of the Epic shine. the samsung touchwiz camera was awesome. ASOP cm9 camera is vary poor it never seems to focus. theirs No ISO settings, No modes Text etc...
What is the most stable version of AOKP or Cyanogen Mod that runs ICS? I tried milestone 6 and had bad call quality, along with every other AOKP or CM rom I have tried. Am I doing something wrong or is that supposed to happen? I'm a noob.
AOKP ICS Milestone 6 is as rock solid as they come. Bad call quality may have been due to having noise suppression unchecked. Hit the menu button with your dialer open to see if that's the case.

Ill try it when I get my phone back... I really depend on calls and don't consider a ROM "stable" unless it has good call quality since it is a phone.
I prefer CM over AOKP. Most versions of Cyanogenmod ICS are stable. I would even attempt the CM JellyBean (NO WHERE AS NEAR STABLE AS ICS). But i think that it is pretty stable to be an alpha release!
Try the rom I'm using its in my signature. Its ics, stable with alot of extras..
So I am thinking of flashing an aosp rom and I am down to cm10 or aokp. Have a few questions since I am back new to rooting and flashing:
-which is more stable? I need a reliable camera and I saw there were bugs with the camera in some versions. I want a daily driver, not a nightly with bugs.
-features and themes. I know cm10 has tons of themes in the market, is aokp the same?
-gapps : do I flash the same gapps file for both of them?
-any other bugs or advantages of one over the other?
Thanks in advance

Aokp has more features than CM10 as its just bare boned aosp. AOKP ride on cm source, so any bug in CM will be present in AOKP. Flash the same gapps....the last is preference. Both are stable, unless you flash cm10.1, which has bugs.

task650 actually pointed out AOKP is based off Google source, not CM....minor clarification
And 10.1 is actually pretty stable. Camera now works and I am using it as a daily driver now. Aokp would use an older gapps than cm10.1 as it is not built off of 4.2 yet.
I am running CM10 stable release from November and I haven't had one issue. I have the the 4.2 apps installed and I love them photosphere and the keyboard are awesome. Only one single problem if you install the 4.2 apps make sure your camera is focused all the way before taking a photo or you have to reboot your phone to use the camera app again because it locks the camera app. But who would want an out of focus picture anyway. Its funny it actually helps me take better photos. Other than that not a single problem with the ROM or apps. I have the ThyrusHolo Black theme from the Play Store installed and it looks great if you like black and holo. I very little about AOKP but I know I don't want to leave CM10 at all. But I suggest running each one for a week top get a good Ferrell for each and see which one you like better.

I am pretty noobin to all of this.
I see people talking about CM10 but I can't even find a download link to CM10, seems all I can find is CM7. I found a CM9 and put it on and it worked pretty good but had no camera and adding a camera app would tell me camera not connected.
I guess Im wondering
A) is there a simple fix to the camera thing on CM9?
B) Should I be using CM7? Is this the best rom for it?
C) I installed CM9 with the S-On because I was finding everything pretty complicated and it seemed to install CM9 fine. Is this ok for someone who isnt going to update a ton?
thank you
Use cm7 if you want or need ffc, 4G, or wimax. No other cm has them working.

Definitely CM 7.x. If you like CyanogenMod, check out Deck's Reloaded by Jamieg71. I ran it on my OG EVO prior to moving on to the EVO LTE:thumbup:
+1 for CM 7.x versions for our EVO
