[Q] Touchscreen stop working!how to unroot??? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,i need some help.
My touchscreen(and the four touch buttons: home meny back and search) stop working will i was using the phone!
Only the volume buttons work ( up and down) and the power button.
so i rebooted the phone but i cant even put the pin or unlock it...
the phone is rooted and ai using revolution hd rom.
so i started with volume down and power button(to bootloader),where i can go up and and dow to the first menu
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
but when i go to RECOVERY ,the menu is touchscreen ,so unusuable for me....
i want to make the phone unroot and put the original rom to sent it back to service.
HOW can i restore it??is there a way to do it?maybe using the pc?

Yes , you can flash via fastboot , it is possible, but I don't know exactly how .

Probably you have 4ext touch. I remember reading how you can flash ROMs through adb but it might not be the most straight forward thing, so my guess is that initially you can move back to Clockwork mod and flash your ROM from there..

recovery...i can't go in

hi all
i followed the guide to go into recovery mode...i try 3 o 4 times, but nothing.
When i see the greendroid i press the bottom right but nothing.
What is wrong?!?!?
maybe u can get some answers from here

Put custom recovery , push recovery boot, the phone power off , then power on and appears the motorola logo....and then nothing all black.
To restart i should pull out the battery .
My rom is 3.4.2-145 Finnland Deblur.
You need to boot up the phone holding down the volume down button.
Try installing 2nd init from market... much better way to get into recovery.

Sorry for a possibly not "good" question, my Defy just arrived - new to robots, but I had win95 up and running for months right after release so probably not hopeless idiot, if ya know what I mean
So, the custom recovery is only accessible via "reboot into recovery" in themselves? What I mean is, installed this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875233 and it seems to work, but what bugs me is that the "hardware" power-up-while-volume-down still brings the old menu. Got me thinking, if I love my Defy into not loading Android at all, those nandroid backups gonna be useless cuz I wouldnt be able to access the expanded recovery boot menu, right?
Is there any method of getting custom recovery down at "powerup+volumedown" loading menu so I can safely love up my ROMs )))?
(Or even in that condition RSDLite + USB are normally enough? Worried that PC wouldn't recognize the brick if android is hopelessly broken)
Yep, I'm starting all my Android experiments with learning all about recovery PPP
P.S. UK 2.51 if anyone cares
Before reboot,pay your attention to Setting->Applications->Development->USB debugging.If ticked,cancel it,then reboot.

[Q] Restoring HD to stock without hardware buttons

Hi,
I have a DHD (crazy john/voda AU) which I rooted and installed leedroid on a few months ago, and haven't modified since. It's currently running 1.4 or so (like I said, it's been a while)
However, it's come to the point where I need to get it replaced. The volume buttons stopped working, and the power button doesn't work more than it does (the main way of turning it on is to replug the charger in). The wifi and bluetooth are also stuffed, but that happened a while back.
Is there any way I can get it back to stock without the hardware buttons or should I just send it in and hope? In theory I can get into recovery, but I can't select any options.
You can reboot into Recovery mode using Rom Mananger (ClockWork Mod), just open it up and select the option.
I can get into recovery mode, but since the volume buttons don't work, I can't select any options.
Download Quick Boot from the market. It has an option to boot into bootloader. From there flash the latest recovery 3.0.2.8, you can navigate through recovery using the softkeys.
I personally would just run the 1.32.405.6 RUU and revert to stock that way.
In CWM you can navigate with softkeys, "home/menu - up/down" "back - back" "search - select"

Ok, I've upgraded CWM and am using the touch buttons to do a backup. I'll get started on restoring it in the morning. Thanks for all the help.
Great info!
Well, I'm royally stuffed. I started following the guide and went to do the downgrade to 1.32. Followed the instructions which said to go bootloader and when I got in the touch buttons didn't work, leaving me stuck. Decided to try hard booting by pulling out the battery, but it won't power up. My options seem to now be wait in the hopes that the power button will co-operate again, or give up and send it in. This sucks
Edit: hell with it, I'll send it in and hope I get lucky.
Just flash the stock RUU. exe from your pc as already suggested simples

restore stock rom

My desire HD does not boot anymore tried all the usual stuff nothing I decided to send it back, could someone tell me how to restore at stock rom?
thanks
just search on XDA, there are a few full instructions which help u unroot and store your phone back to original one. I did once, and sent my phone back for warranty.
Can you boot into recovery mode? (Have you tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and then booting into recovery mode by pressing the volume button and power button together?)

Well that's one of the perks of flashing a 3.xx.xxx.x ROM on 1.xx.xxx.x(4.4.2) firmware. You get to have extremely long boot up times and you won't have a proper working radio which leaves you with no wifi, data, gps, bluetooth...
Your OTA probably didn't work because of a custom recovery, not because it was rooted. Root does NOT prevent OTA updates from installing, though you might lose root access after the OTA.
If you're stuck at Boot screen hold Volume UP + Power button for 10seconds, as soon as the screen goes black press volume Down + Power button to enter into Bootloader.
Flash a custom recovery like TWRP. Go into recovery and restore a nandroid backup for your device.
first thx alot for replaying
i already got TWRP installed but the screen is stock on boot screen but still manage on the back ground to load my current rom as i'm hearing the log in sound of the rom :S
so i tried to power it off without seeing by holding the power key the power option pop up and touching random parts of the screen but i failed
i even waited for the battery to empty and factory reset the phone with no use
is these is any way even by adb to power off my phone
plzzz help
thx again for replaying

By the look of things you are booted in OS but have no screen, hence why try and hold power button in and randomly tap to shut off?
I told you already to Hold Volume UP + Power button for about 10seconds and then hold volume down + power to enter bootloader.
You can of course also just plug it in and try to reboot to bootloader using adb, if you have USB debugging enabled. adb reboot bootloader
As already said just hold power and volume up for around 12 seconds then immediately press and hold power and volume down. This will always get you into the boot loader.
However if adb is working just use the command above. Reflash the original boot.img and you should be good.

Use that to get back to the stock rom for your phone. Then after installing the right one, get the OTA

Never leave your device with an empty battery. In any circumstances.
Because you might not be able to charge it. Recover the device while you have some power on your battery.
Remember, this is a unibody device. It's not so easy to pull out the battery.

HTC hboot?

......
Ah no worries, the bootloader can be seen as the BIOS from a pc. When the phone is full stock nothing really bad can happen except for a unwanted factory reset. usually you get into this bootloader menu via a longpressed button method so maybe you held some buttons for some time, or it happened inside your pocket or something.
Usually we enter the bootloader and go to the custom recovery from there when its flashed. It's also the menu where we put the phone in to flash stuff to it as a custom recovery or a firmware.
