Volume becomes too low after flashing runnymede v6.5 special edition - Desire General

Hi experts.
I just flashed the latest version(6.5) of runnymede AIO special edition on my HTC Desire. I'm loving it so far. Everything seems to work fine. But I noticed that the volume (media, system, in call and alam) becomes too low. This is not the case when I plug my earphone on, but I can hardly hear my phone ringing in a normal environment (not too quiet or crowded). Is anyone having the same issues? Any help would be much appreciated.

Enable xloud in settings/rcmix3d tweaks/system/enable/disable commands. Uncheck fast boot in settings/ power. Reboot/normal.
Lower volume before testing.

Wow that method works! Thanks a lot tihimasmo

Thanks fw:d to sebastiaan for an awsome ROM, least I could do.

Hi,
I found this thread because I had the same problem : sound very very low after flashing this ROM. Let's say : volume at 100% and I didn't hear it just while somebody was talking in the room ...
Then I went to Enable XLOUD as you said, and rebooted. Now, let's say :
- Volume at 0% : nothing (normal)
- Volume at first step : loud
- Volume at second step : can be heard from within a bag in a loudy supermarket !
- Volume at third step : I jump out of my chair at every notification so it is loud !!!
So my question : is there by chance any setting to ajust gain ? To have something at the middle of with or withoud XLOUD
Thanks by advance !

[Q] Very low in-call volume

Hello,
I'm having trouble with my HTC Desire : the in-call volume is too low.
When I'm on a street I can barely hear what a person says when I'm talking on my phone.
The problem started when I switched form Android 2.2 (DeFroST) to Android 2.3 (GingerVillain). I waited to see if the problem would be fixed in time (since Cyanogenmod 7 was not final at first) but now the problem still persists.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue ? It would be greatly appreciated
Android version : 2.3.4
Kernel version : 2.6.38.4-defrost-bravo+trip
GINGERVillain 2.4 for HTC Desire
Rooted with Unrevoked3
P.S. The in-call volume is set to max, if anyone asks.
come on guys ... nobody knows how or at least has an idea !?

I have the same problems, but i used Leedroid V2.4 with 2.6.32.36-leedroid-110327 [email protected] #1 kernel.
With original RUU the same problem...
I tried the Insertcoin ROM and other 2.3.3 ROMs, but the in-call volume very poor.
Please help me!
You can start, by looking in the Setting menu, maybe the volume is down.

HI!
I changed from Leedroid 2.5.0 ROM (where in-call volume very poor) to Cyanogenmod 6.1.1 ROM (update-cm-6.1.1-Desire-signed.zip) and after that the in-call volume normal (a little bit noise).
Next step I did an unroot with RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe and the in-call volume goto very poor again!
I think the problem is with the 2.29.405.5 image......
Same issue with InsertCoin CM7.
There were few reports and far between regarding this issue, probably that's why you get no answer. Your in-call volume is as high as it can get ? During a call toggle the volume button on the side of the phone.
Never had such issues but we can try to get to the bottom of this. I hope, for you, that it's not a hardware problem. Also check your phone's loudspeakers for debris.
Hi all
I had same issue on oxygen. Went to talk about it on their irc channel and gout out that it was kernel/rom related issue. The
Kernel maker on that rom had a look and it was related to volume steps that are available. Usually u have 5 for call and 10 for media. If any one can recompile a kernel to add few volume steps and increase gain values than it shall work. That was wat they did in oxygen.
Hope that helps at least a bit.
Sent from my Coin using Desire running XDA app.
any news?
Hi there,
I have the same problem on my Desire running the current LeeDroid. I also tried Cyanogen 7 and Reflex S 2.1.7. All I found on this issue is the "enter Service Menu" tipp, but when tiping *#*#197328640#*#* into the dialer, nothing happens (well, the number vanished).
I then tried Volume+, Volume Booster and several other Market apps, all to no avail. I tried changing the volume with a bluetooth earpiece attached and then switching back, again no luck.
So... is the only solution to wait for a new kernel or has anyone found another way to get the in-call volume back to normal?
Same problem on Google Nexus One
Problem appears to be only on the regular speaker. When I use headphones or the Loudspeaker, the volume level is enough.
I was advised to look for another Kernel. How would I go about doing something like that? (I am somewhat noobie)

I am here again, I tried to follow the suggestion to replace the kernel that I had with the kernel alex v-04.
I can say that the volume of the incoming call is actually increased a bit but now there is a new problem, when I activate the wifi I get an error message and the network does not work, how can I do to fix it? I have to find a new kernel or am I doing something wrong in the procedure? I used "Kernel_Update_Utility09" and I have not encountered any particular problems during the upgrade.
Thank you very much.
update
after installing this kernel I have found 2 other side effects, the first problem is related to the LED charging, when the desire is on the LED no turns green when charging is completed, the second problem is with the flashlight app that no longer works
Hello everyone , after several attempts to search for the cause of the problem I found a ( possible) solution .
I think this solution will solve the problem on a number of phones Desire.
The problem is the "hardware " is not software (in my case ) and the solution is very simple.
it is sufficient to " uncork " the hole of the speaker that is clogged with dirt and sweat of the skin, into the hole that you see in black is a small piece of protective tissue ( such as that used for the protection of speakers your hi -fi) the protective fabric is impregnated with sweat and dirt and create a cap that prevents the sound from leaking out on a regular basis .
To uncork the hole you need to disassemble the desire , remove the speaker and remove this tissue , the hole will remain open and will be more aesthetically ugly , but at least your phone will work on a regular basis ..... I closed the hole with a very fine mesh of steel .
Please do not try to uncork the hole without disassembling the phone because you risk to drill the speaker.
I hope this tip will help someone.
Let me know , bye !

HTC One X - Mod to decrease the Ringer/Tone and in-call volume in earpiece mode?

Folks,
My apology if this had been asked before.
In earpiece mode:
I always find that even at the lowest level set on HTC One X for the incoming Ringer/Tone and In-Call volume, it's still way too loud for the comfort and health of my ears!
Is there anywhere or anyone here in XDA has a mod that modifed the default lowest volume level to even lower?
Thank you very much in advance!
Cheers!:fingers-crossed:
You kidding me ... I need a mod to increase the in-call earpiece volume ... its a mess after you have used Galaxy S3 ...

Nope he is not kidding.
There is an android bug present for some of us (most of us with good hearing ). On every phone, rom, android version. Where the in call volume is horrible loud.
It gets sometimes down when you first make it UP UP UP, and then down.
Saw some fixes with android codes, but they didn't work for my one X.
Also the reverse mode to make it louder I believe they already exist, you can check the forums.

Speaker broken?

Hi guys.
I am the owner of a Note 2 since two days ago (switched from the Note 1, fwiw). I didn't had much time to look for a ROM (and there are a ton of them), so I decided on the one I knew best : Slim Bean.
One problem. Follow through this scenario :
- Boot up the phone
- Press the volume-up button until you reach maximum volume
- Notice that the sound the speaker makes is not as clear as on the other lower volume steps? It sounds like it's "stretched"... I don't know. (let's call this sequence A)
- Now. Initiate a call. Once it is connected, drop it.
- Repeat the volume-up procedure. Notice that the sound the speaker makes on highest volume is now clear?! (let's call this sequence B)
When <sequence A>, if I play a music track with lots of bass, or, for example, the CyanTone and Glacial Groove ringtones... they sound awful (bass => speaker crackling).
When <sequence B>, if I do the above... they sound good.
One more thing.
<sequence A> = higher volume than <sequence B> (this might be why the speaker crackling is gone after making a call).
What the hell?!
Hope you understand what I am trying to explain here.
