That's bull****, he's just trying to scare you. If you think you have a problem, re-flash a stock ROM and kernel, re-lock the phone and send it back.

Don't think your phone is getting laggy because its getting warm. You probably have some serious problem happening that's causing your CPU to be overworked, causing the phone to be both laggy and warm.

This is false.

ok well the phone is not hot all time... when i use an intensive app like antutu quadrant or a game then after a few minutes it starts lagging...

You should be flashing back to completely stock to see if its a user-created problem or a hardware fault... That's what I would do.

so i use Galaxy Nexus ToolKit 5.3 then i flash latest google stock firmware? im used to odin))) then i relock bootloeader

You dont have to relock the bootloader...just load stock rom and test.

ok so i went to stock rom did a quadrant and an antutu when the phone was cold , i did several tests and when the phone started heating all scores lowered an example:antutu cpu float 1631 to 900 800
i used a stabillity test app and cpu heats to 45 degree very laggy should i go to change it? gta laggs insane and sometimes is smooth

i would flash to stock- completely (not rooted, no data on phone) so it's like you're unboxing it for the first time. if it heats up, you've got a hardware issue and should send it back.
or just send it back and get a new one that's shinier than yours.

what is the normal temp on high load for the cpu??

ok i have some screenshots with the phone cool and with the phone at 47degree
i hope it will help...

For reference, here is my screen using Stability Test, I am overclocked to 1500MHz in an Otterbox case, left on a sofa to run for the best part of nine minutes and I only hit 38°C.

well yeah thats 1500 OC and 38 degree mine no OC 1200 48 degree:| i think it has a problem

help

I'm in a pretty bad situation. I don't know why it happened, but my phone screen went crazy so i took out my battery and tried rebooting. on the "tmobile mytouch 3g" the screen is fine and clearly ledgible, but once it boots up into the rom it goes crazy and is unreadable. I can't fix this because its fine for the hboot but when you try to go into recovery you can't see your screen, and therefore can't flash a different rom.. help? i'm running cm6.1, i had it overclocked to like 700

There sir, is your answer.
EDIT: Since I'm sure I'll get flamed, let me explain why I say this. Our processor might be rated at 800mhz (while it's down-clocked to 600mhz), but that doesn't mean it can operate at 800mhz once it's built into a tiny device like a phone. Not to mention being along side a GPU which puts out a significant amount of heat as well. It's likely the device was being stored under less-than-ideal conditions and there was a run-away process eating up CPU. Result? Damaged GPU.
thanks... i guess haha. is there anyway to fix it?

The hardware is damaged - it's the risk you run when overclocking. You'll have to see if you can return it to T-Mobile under warranty and hope they don't figure it out. Is that ethical? No, but neither is charging $550 (retail) for a mid-grade phone and not delivering Froyo on-time.
You can try flashing the stock nbh in the dev forum. Thats done by simply placing it on the root of the sdcard and then booting into hboot.
Edit: I should clarify that I am not suggesting this as a fix, but as a way to try and get the phone to stock before trying a warranty switch.

Just curious, at what mhz would you recommend is safe for overclocking and do you know if the Slide is underclocked? For example the Slide claims to have a 600mhz processor, is the processor set to 600 max by default or is it set to something like 528mhz max? Thanks in advance.
P.S. Long time no talk Betch. How you've been?
Black myTouch Slide w/stock rom
www.GoTeamFriday.com
There are 3 kernels that you can use to overclock above 600 but below 800. One is 728? and the other is around 787. Most people are able to safely oc to 806 but it would seem you are definitely not one of them (some can go over 900). The last one allows you to oc to any normal speed you want, from underclocking at 245 to oc up to around 900. You have to set the boot speed via the 00banner file though.
If flashing the nbh file in Hboot doesn't work I would suggest (if you have insurance) running it over with your car or drop it off something really high. I don't believe they check the software, most likely because they couldn't since the hardware would be fubar.

high heat temperature issue on higher than 920Mhz speeds (AOKP+Faux)

Ever since I had my nexus I only flashed AOKP and Faux's kernel. But the annoying part is that when Im using interactive or ondemand and the phone go to a higher speed, the phone gets too hots, and when it reaches 1200Mhz it gets too hot to the fact that I cant touch the top of the screen or the back cover on the camera side. Only way out of it is me using conservative and UC to 920Mhz and the phone wont reach that speed anyway. Any help please?

::Heat only happens when the screen is on. when its off it goes into deep sleep without wake ups::

I dont know how much but it burns! its just way too hot. I had a phone call when it was that hot and when I put the phone on my ear I almost threw it away because of the heat!! My screen brightness is at its lowest but I have the color multiplier from faux kernel on.

Hi,
Temperature is subjective,I mean if you just touch your phone and say "it's hot"...
If I wash my hands with cold water then I take my phone...I find it hot...
Cools your hands (in the fridge ) and use your phone 5 mins, you will find it very hot...
There are already many threads about this...Arrrrgh,can't use the search function ,but for sure for the last week there is about 2 threads about that...
Try a fresh install, starts from scratch with full wipe etc, just your current ROM and if it continues flash another kernel...
Monitor your CPU temp with an app,not just your feeling,it may be biased (System Tuner for example or maybe an app like cpu temp,on the Play Store),for their respective (if you test anothers) kernel try Franco kernel updater or Glados control to monitor the CPU temp.
Also see if there isn't an app,a script,etc...that could fully or almost load your CPU...

Yeah all devices do get heated up while charging but while wifi + charging / flashing ramps up my phone temp to 45C !!
iv'e actually got it imported from USA & here in india we don't have support for nexus.
i'm out of luck , waiting for a workaround or any advices
I'd play with the radio first. If the reception is crap the phone will boost power to the radio, get hotter, and use more battery. Since radios can be very network and region dependent it's worth experimenting.
Since you have no warranty and your phone isn't working right you have nothing to loose by unlocking and flashing a new radio.

My Gnex and my sis's GS2 also heats up to a minimum 40+ degrees.
Damn... Idk what you guys are doing... my battery temp is always 38 degrees celsius and my CPU temp is around 51 degrees celsius and I've never not had my phone feel cool to the touch unless I'm tethering or playing a graphically intensive game.

[FIX] Pops and crackles in headphone output.

Hey everyone, just thought I would let it be known that (at least on my phone) overclocking past 1.8GHz causes horrible clicks and pops when listening through the headphone jack. I am using the Rogers Stock ROM with the latest KT747 kernel, and the issue appears when clocked to 1.89GHz, even though the rest of the phone runs stable. Took me a while to track down the problem!
I was hoping people with other kernels/roms/configurations could weigh in to see if this is an isolated or a widespread issue. For the time being I have just decided to overclock manually when it is needed.
EDIT: It appears after more testing that it was the kernel itself. Switching to stock kernel fixed the problem.

Suprisingly the temperature increase is hardly noticeable. I tested while playing N. O. V. A. 3 and a few other games. My One XL got burning hot while overclocked to 1.7GHz, even though it's the same chip, which I find strange.
I had this probelm as well on my SGS3, ended up exchanging my phone for another reason and the new phone doesnt do it anymore.

The galaxy s3 explodes with stock temps, I would be afraid to oc to 1.9GHz Oh, and I would edit the title from [FIX] it's kind of misleading since there isn't a fix here.

I'm a power user. I do just about everything with my phone, including lots of gaming with emulators. Perhaps I got a higher than normal quality chunk of silicon, but the phone didn't overheat at all, even when overclocked. The only time it got noticeably warm was while overclocked, gaming and charging all at once.
To those having this problem, it appears it wasn't related to overclocking after all, as the issue appeared a day later on stock frequencies. Changing back to a stock kernel fixed the problem.
In the end I sold it and bought an international SGS3 from eBay. I don't care for LTE, but the Wolfson DAC and Mali-400 GPU appeal to my usage case nicely.

Seeing posts like this just make me cry inside...from the day I first got my phone and activated it, I have been having overheating problems. No one would take my device back so after my 30 day "return" period or whatever, I decided to root my phone to underclock/undervolt to solve my problem....but even know, my phone gets warm by just using stock Browser after a fresh install (not Chrome or anything else) WITH underclocking.

[Q] What is happening to my gio?

Every time I flash a 2.3.6 rom, my phone will be normal for the first few days. But after that, my phone cannot be turned on and will be very hot
I sent to the Samsung repair and they tell me my cpu or what is burn to die.
So what is actually happening?

I don't think flashing rom will help to fix your phone because your cpu (the speed of your phone) may have defect. Your cpu may have defect which makes it so easy to get overheated and burns to death. It's a hardware issue not software related. I don't think/know if xda members here could help you with hardware issues otherwise you should turn to Samsung
What you could do is to flash a new rom, and underclock so the temperature will be lower...
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda app-developers app
I have the same problem with my Gio. It is definitely hardware since it happens with multiple ROMs with no overclocking. I think I tried underclocking once with little success. If it's a hot day I can lose use of the phone for hours.
well, if you think it didn't happen by flashing , rooting etc, flash back to stock on a ''cold'' day. and try getting it repaired or a new phone for free, using your ''warrantly''. but you need a bit luck..
just tell them it happened after upgrading with KIES to gingerbread or something.
