[Q]Nexus Torch - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I want to use the Nexu Torche app on my DHD.
But it's crash when I switch the high brighntness mode on.
The screen went Black and you must restart the phone.
I know that CM7 and Ice coold sandwich had a similar app that works great,
I use ARHD 7.0. with sense 3.5
I hope that anyone can help me.

Usually the nexus torch apps like that don't work well on sense. Use the built in flashlight app.

Yeah I know but I want to use the high brightness mode.
There are many other apps but the high brightness mode is so cool.

Brightness Tweak?

Is there a tweak to allow me to have a brightness of les than 10%?
Sometimes the lowest just isn't low enough. Brightness at 1% on a HP TouchPad is a great hack, Does well at 3am in bed unlike what feels like a blinding screen.

What RoM you using now? If its a Sense RoM I think your stuck with default setting. With MIUI RoM you can set all the brightness settings yourself.
Screen filter from the market is what I use.
You will get better results with an amoled screen.

Using CM7
Quick Settings says its at 1%...
Screen Filter I guess kinda works, It'd more like lights out mode on flash videos

Hi!
landscape mode works only in some apps. You will not get landscape mode in homescreens, unless you have a custom ROM installed and have LeeDroid Tweaks.
Greetings
Putti
But it actually happened yesterday! I had landscape homescreen with all icons positioned on right of the screen and widgets resized accordingly...
[EDIT] I am running custom ROM Android Revolution HD

Hello, i have a non-rooted phone and also got it a copple of times.
On the home screen i suddenly had a landscape screen.
Once turned back to portrait, it did not go back to landscape again.
After searching i found a forum message about an app called 'Rotate'.
this app can force autorotate, so the landscape also works on the homepage.
1 problem, you can try it some time and then you have to pay for it (only $1.99)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate&feature=search_result
If your using apex launcher you can go into advanced settings and pick auto rotate or landscape only, if your using stock sense then I havn't got a clue

HTC Sense doesn't allow the homescreens to rotate at will, generally the home screens are locked into portrait viewing.
I have seen screen shots of the phone homescreen in landscape, I think it's just a glitch... as you said, it's reverted back now and won't do it again.
Unless forced with an app etc...

HTC Sense doesn't allow the homescreens to rotate at will, you have to edit the rosie.apk to get it to work as you've already said.
So it doesn't work as standard.
I have a car dock for my One X, and when it sits in the car dock it is also possible to see the homescreen(s) in landscape mode.
Here is an example:

So it is possible and I find it strange that HTC doesn't allow it when using the device normally.
Rotate HTC 1 X homepage
I found this app on the Play Store " Rotation Locker" on another forum. It has worked for me but try it your selves.
.
Thanks works just perfect and now its free

This app works but...
Hey...even i was searching for some app or mod through which i can get my homescreen in landscape mode while the phone rests in my "new KiDiGi desktop charger" :silly:
So i came across the apps mentioned above.... "Rotation Locker" and "Ultimate Rotation Control"
Rotation locker was a free app but it did not work fully...like the lock screen used to be in portrait only...and the app sometimes flickered between portrait and landscape mode...so i uninstalled it....
Ultimate Rotation Control is amazing...it works perfectly for me...the only issue that it is a 7-day trial after which i would be asked to pay $2 (almost Rs.110 here in India)...
i would not mind paying money to the developer...but since i have a rooted phone with Android Revolution HD 9.4.1 ROM, i was just thinking is there any custom tweek developed for this ROM which can help me get rid of these Third party apps for rotation control....
Does anyone know about any such tweak for rooted HTC One X??
I have another query...i want to know if there is any tweak/app through which i can get my screen to wake up when a new SMS/Whatsapp/mail comes?? basiacally to wake up the screen in case of any notification...
Thanks a lot in advance

just forget it, read again what i wrote, and its plain dumb, you're with your screen off ... bleh
Awesome idea! my phone overheats, so this will be great thanks!
Just what is was looking for...
Will try it later when using the MHL
Thanks
brilliant:good:
Love it great idea !
is it possible to assign a shortcut button or have it as a notification for easier in app access ?
Working great so far
You could always place a widget of the app to access it quick from home launcher. If I implement permanent notification, it requires a service to be kept running -> battery problem. However if you want, then I could implement a notification toggle that let you turn on the screen without the need of putting the phone to sleep and wake it up.
Please share any other ideas if you have

The best thing I have found so far is an app called Screen Filter (turns the brightness to almost 0%). For me it works best to set a homescreen widget so you can access it when the screen is unreadable.

To any one who want me to port this app to their devices, please note that I don't have the device myself (I only have Nexus S / Moto Xoom and the HOX International). So please PM me, so I can give you instruction on how you can help me port this app.

Jelly Bean Screen Off App

I've used the screen off and lock app for sometime without issue but on 4.1.1 it has intermittent issue.
I've searched but can't seem to find an app yet that's verified working 100% can anybody direct me to one.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
No screen off app, to use instead of using power button.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
if u use CM based ROM on there has a widget button on power widget (go to sleep or something alike)
just enable it near setting=>system...i cant provide the exact step cause i'm using sense ROM now
Forgot all about that one, thanks. It would be nice if could it as single app on home screen tho.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
It appears that there is an issue with all "screen off" apps on jellybean (and I think also on ics)
Many times after locking the screen, the screen goes on by itself again, in lockscreen mode thus draining battery and braking our nerves
I wonder if any DEV can solve this one without custom roms.
Personally I have a galaxy note 2 and at the time, I have no reason to change my rom. I'm happy with the stock one.
Any suggestions on a "screen off" app anyone???
Most preferred are the ones that have an icon and not only a widget so as to move the icon to the deck.

another good app is lumi... it has alot of features and allowy you to adjust the default autobrightness level and assign different light levels different brightness levels.
Thanks both of you very much for your help.
I'll give them a try.
