Brightness Tweak? - Desire General

Is there a tweak to allow me to have a brightness of les than 10%?
Sometimes the lowest just isn't low enough. Brightness at 1% on a HP TouchPad is a great hack, Does well at 3am in bed unlike what feels like a blinding screen.

What RoM you using now? If its a Sense RoM I think your stuck with default setting. With MIUI RoM you can set all the brightness settings yourself.

Screen filter from the market is what I use.
You will get better results with an amoled screen.

Using CM7
Quick Settings says its at 1%...
Screen Filter I guess kinda works, It'd more like lights out mode on flash videos

[Q] Editing screen brightnes

Is there a file on the device that lets you edit the screen brightness in according to how much lux or light the sensor is picking up? Because when in the dark the values are still far too high.
Thanks
I was thinking exactly the same thing today... was wondering if there's an app for it.

No app for it unfortunately. There is an apk file you have to compile and edit. I'm fairly certain its the framework.res.apk but not totaly sure. Leedroid has modified the levels to a lower brightness in his rom and there was some discussion about how to do it in his thread but I don't recall the details offhand.

I've just installed Tasker... added a couple of profiles: one to set brightness to Auto if ambient light is 75 to 100, another to set brightness to low and Auto off if ambient light is 0 to 74. Works excellent so far...

I enable Screen Filter app whilst using the phone in dark. Much easier on eyes compared to stock settings.

[Q]Nexus Torch

Hey guys I want to use the Nexu Torche app on my DHD.
But it's crash when I switch the high brighntness mode on.
The screen went Black and you must restart the phone.
I know that CM7 and Ice coold sandwich had a similar app that works great,
I use ARHD 7.0. with sense 3.5
I hope that anyone can help me.
Usually the nexus torch apps like that don't work well on sense. Use the built in flashlight app.

Yeah I know but I want to use the high brightness mode.
There are many other apps but the high brightness mode is so cool.

Screen backlight levels

Anyone know which ROM(s) will let you modify the backlight levels for the screen? Trying to help battery consumption by the display. For example, on my inc2 these could be found in display setyings > edit backlight levels

Cyanogen Mod 10.1 does this now. When you adjust brightness via the settings menu, you can click edit and adjust the autobrightness levels.
Is CM10.1 the only one? Or can I expect all ROMs with a CM base to do this as well?

I can confirm this does not have an effect on battery life. Seems like even though the display backlight can be lowered, it does not change how much power is consumed to keep the screen on. Go ahead and experiment yourself.

If this is true it seems to me that manufacturers should try and address this issue of power consumption by displays. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a nice screen as much as the next user, but I'd rather sacrifice a slightly downgraded display for better power management by the device itself.

I think manufacturers should go back to 4 inch displays. They are much easier to use one handed and smaller screens are so battery friendly. My old Atrix 4G would give me 8 hours screen time on Wi-Fi.

u can try screen filter.
Use Lux and set it up according to your preferences!. Simple, clean and available for all ROMs!!
Cheers!!

Low screen brightness?

I was thinking about getting the Zenfone 2 64 gb to replace my M7. I was wondering if the screen brightness is as bad as I have heard? I currently run my display brightness at about 35%. And does anyone know if there might be an update that could increase the brightness? Overall this phone looks like a winner to me. I was going to get a one plus one, but this looks better and it has an sd slot. Thanks all.

The brightness in this phone is not that great. There might be a update to fix this soon but until then if you're rooted try to get an app from the play store that lowers the Nits in the device.

The brightness is OK. Not as bright as the OPO but not a big deal, IMO.
The more pressing issue is the minimum brightness is wayyy too high. At night this thing is a frickin' laser.
I found out that If you play with the Splendid application and set the color mode to vivid and the color temperature all the way to the left the screen is much better but keep in mind that probably is gonna affect your battery consumption.
