What ho, XDA-chaps.
I have a question concerning changing the lockscreen on our phones, without the help of an external app.
I really like the AOSP slider-lockscreen over the Samsung lockscreen.
I selected the 'framework.apk' for cooking, selected the AOSP/Cyanogenmod lockscreen, flashed the file created by the kitchen, yet nothing happened; the lockscreen is the Samsung lockscreen.
Is it possible to change the lockscreen, or am I missing something here?
Thanks in advance to all help and ideas given.
No its possible i just did custom animations and status bar. Working on lockscreen next. Whatever rom u are on u need to upload the framework res the system ui and twframework res. Now i dont know if lockscreen needs all three but it should tell u on uot on right hand side when uploading the files sometimes i also found out that wiping cache and dalvik cache it wouldnt show up after rebooting phone so i would just flash it without wiping caches. Well thats what i did and it worked. Remember make a backup before flashing anything. Also remember themes change framework so if u want a theme flash it then upload your framework for the mod u want. Because lets say u make a mod flash it then flash the theme it will prolly cancel it out
Thanks, mate. I'll give it another go!

I'm running into a similar issue with trying to change the lockscreen and notification bar, but after I flash what UOT created my phone will boot up and then keep restarting. Im thinking maybe it's because I'm not adding the twframework but I'm not using TW. Where is the twframework res located at anyway?
The same place as the framework.apk, my good man.
Those two apks should be right next to one another.
Ahh Haa!! Found it!
Thanks for your help!
Zehahaha! No problem!

I've been searching and trying different suggestions, but nothing has worked.
I have CM 6.1.1 installed on my phone and I have installed a theme. I am trying to find a process that works to install another theme and to update certain parts of a theme (battery icon, wifi..etc). I've tried wiping cache & delvik, using ninjamorph, metamorph, update.zip. The closest I've gotten was updating battery icon using metamorph - it changed the images and would load, but then everything would foreclose.
As of now it seems that the only way to do this would be to reflash the rom and then put in a new theme.
Thanks for your help
When you flash a theme it replace system images. So say you try 2 themes, theme 1 does have new images for battery icon... theme 2 does not. If you flash theme 2 over theme 1 you will still have theme 1's battery icon. The way I do it is to re flash the rom between themes. As long as you are using the same rom no need to wipe and re set up your screens, just flash rom and flash new theme. As far as doing "mashups" of different themes I suggest doing a lot of reading the answers are out there. Try the general android themeing sub forum for all devices.
and then there was root....
Hi,
I rooted my DHD and flashed Revolution HD (2.1) ROM yesterday for the first time!! This site helped massively so thanks to all the devs and posters for the information!! I do have a couple of questions though, please excuse me if these are a bit obvious but until yesterday i had no idea how to even root it!
So i flashed the ROM and rooted fine, then i flashed a custom theme as well from clockwork mod recovery (installed from zip on sdcard). If i want to change the theme to a different custom one do i have to flash it from CWM recovery or can i do it directly from the CWM app??
Also if i now flash a different custom theme will all my user data (apps, settings, media etc.) be preserved?
Basically i like to change my theme quite often but if im going to loose my data everytime then ill have to pick more carefully!
Thanks in advance for your help and thanks again to all the devs and posters for making my DHD even better!!

Welcome on board ARHD user
You flash theme from CWM. Changing themes means giving new look to your phone, so unfortunately you ll have to personalize everything once again. Flashing themes would not remove your data but only your personalized home screen. You can however try mybackup and see if that helps you restore your settings.
Thanks for the reply!! Just flashed a new theme (revolution) and loving it.
One more question though, im trying to flash a different boot screen and animated framework to the theme but its not working
Im putting the zip on my sd card and flashing via CWM as i did with the theme but its not applying for some reason, is there something im missing?? Both the bootscreen and framework are made for the theme by the way!
Thanks

have you replaced the bootanimation.zip file? i do not know if you need to flash the bootanimation. I have flashed splashscreen but not the bootanimation so i do not exactly know. But i m sure if you replace bootanimation.zip file in /system folder it would work.
Thanks again for the reply. For some reason i went back to recovery 2.5.1.3 to flash something else and just tried the boot animation just in case it made a difference and its all working fine now!!
Cheers
Im having the same problem, Im running DHD Revolution Gingerbread beta 3.1 and the boot animations never work. Even if I do replace the bootanimation.zip file. Changed permissions to the zip file too.
Seems there is a difference in opinion on which bootanimation file to replace. I replaced the one in system/customize/resource.
Any ideas?
Gingerbread works completely differently i think. There is script that also needs to be modified to change the boot animation, i dont know what or where im afraid!
I was on gingerbread for a few days (i think it was mike's second beta) and didnt like it much, so im back on froyo leedroid for now. Might change when there is a few more themes about, bugs are all sorted and custom kernels are available!!
How can i do that on this rom i already tried do edit framework but no success.
Thanks
On Ginger the status bar it's in SystemUI.apk, so that's the apk you should edit to change something.
Just flash the zip via CWM Recovery..

Does not work.
Try with UOT kitchen : http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
Upload there framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk and change what you want.
It worked for me.
I did my self i upload it via adb and wipe cache and dalvik
Anyway, it doesn't hurt to try one more time with UOT And the best thing is that UOT gives you a zip that you can use it with clockworkmod.
Here i have made a theme resembling Cyanogenmod Cyanbread theme using its icons and other stuffs. I did this for people who love the essence of CYAN.
What all I have done:
1. I have added DSP manager of CM which works perfectly on our galaxy ace.
2. Cyanbread.
3. Removed the SILVER colour(background) of the notification bar with which the dropping down and pushing up animation is A LOT FASTER and responsive.(For those who want it comment in this thread)
4. Added DeskClock for those who don't have it. (will change its parts to cyan soon).
How to:
1. Download the respective attached file which you require.
2. Copy it to your SD card.
3. Boot into recovery (has to be CWM or else your status bar will vanish).
4. Flash this theme CodeRom Defaultand reboot.
5. Reboot back into recovery after a successful boot (with or without errors).
6. Wipe cache partition.
7. Go into 'mounts and storage' and select 'mount /system'.
8. Go to 'install zip from sdcard'. Select 'choose zip from sdcard' and select the zip which i have provided in your respective directories.
9. Reboot.
Known bugs:
1. The slide unlock has a noticable difference in its parts.
2. The expanded menus (if you press 'more' after pressing menu button) have text black.
Note: But these two bugs are rarely a downside of this theme as all the other feature supersede these bugs. Will repair the bugs as soon as i find a debug code.
Which zip to choose:
For Coderom(any version) choose Cyanbread.zip .
For BrazilianFW (i think 2.3.4) download CyanbreadBFW.zip (CREDITS: FMAranda Thanks for the help )
Credits: CYANOGENMOD community. fla.sh who motivated me into doing this today itself.
Screenshots will be added tomorrow. But the theme is amazing.
nice. but can we have some screenies? especially of the changed notification bar. THANKS!
+1 Appreciate it!!
Thanks!!
Screens from my Ace with this theme:

Remember i had asked you if i could edit your framework-res.apk . Well i actually did and finished the theme but had only one problem which is the slide unlock. I guess it is something to do with compiling. I know that you knnow the answer to the question, so i will be sending you the the flashable zip i have made.
Note: This theme has one problem if you enable overscroll glow. It will be orange and not blue because this was done before overscroll glow. Actually i had forgotten to change the png file LOL .
Here's the theme ported to the Brazilian FW, install using CWM.
Thanks tr.supradeep!
It might have some bugs, but it looks great! It doesn't include the DSP Manager.

I've forgotten that well, actually it's easy to fix that slide unlock thingy, and I'd change the overscroll glow with the help of UOT...

I am getting ready to flash a rom and i am going to replace the softkeys before i do. Can I also replace the background of the soft key so i dont have to reapply after the flash.
also If i must reapply the softkey background in metamorph, will that change my actual softkey or is that just affecting the background( higlight).

You can change it before you flash the rom. Just edit the files in rom rom.zip and then flash the result. In effect you apply the mod to the zip before you flash the zip.
If I've understood your question correctly.
However, if you already have a mod applied, flashing a new rom will remove that mod for sure.
