[Q] What's the most data you've used in one billing cycle?

What's the most data you've used in a cycle, and has anyone heard a peep from Verizon? My cycle starts on the 26th and I just cross the 10GB mark. Just curious, and thanks for your response.

Thanks for the reply, I'm wondering if at some point high usage will raise an eyebrow from Verizon. I mean, I'll probably break 15GB this month.

I've never gone over 1GB lol. I'm almost always around Wi-Fi. Most its been was like maybe 600MB.

18 gigs? See, now that's what I'm talking about. I'll get close to that this month. Once we get internet set up I won't use so much, or maybe I'll just get an LTE phone and run everthing off that.

Wow I feel so much better now Thanks! Wifi at my house is so flaky I've started tethering my phone, but I stopped since I was worried about using too much data. I'm only at about 4 gb with a week and a half left on my billing cycle. Guess I don't have to worry

At school, I'm always on 3g, because the wifi is flaky. So I usually use 3 gbs. At home, I'll stay on wifi and use about a gig for when I'm out and about.

Verizon has openly stated that they (will/have already) cap the top 5% of data users. You *might* fall into that category or maybe will soon.

Also it looks they will just be putting your data on lower priority. So if there's not too much 3G data demand in your area, you'll stream just as quickly.

Well I'm well over 20 gigs and my cycle ends on the 26th, I'll let y'all know how it turns out. Do you realize if I was on the tiered plan that's supposed to be implemented on July 7th that'd be over $200 worth of data? That's rediculous...

I'm looking at 2.4GB and i'm only in day 3 of my cycle lol

The highest I believe I've gone is ~800-900MB. I think I average ~500MB per month. I'm around wifi a lot and I frequently turn my data off when I'm not using my phone.

I know, I'm just using that as an example. The pricing is ridiculous. I'm actually giving my wife the Inc and getting a Thunderbolt so we'll have two grandfathered unlimited plans. And we have LTE here, wonder how much data I'll use then.

I was around 16GB last month. I've only had a data plan for a few months now...the Dinc being my first smartphone. I'll be honest, I'm on a budget and I always get good 3G in my apartment (usually reach around 1Mbps, which is acceptable to me), so I dropped my $40/mo AT&T DSL in favor of using my phone as my main internet via tethering, and I haven't looked back. So glad I'm grandfathered with my unlimited data, but I'm totally prepared if my plans fall through and I have to go back to DSL...I figure it's just a matter of time.

LOLZ...how did you manage that? I'm a long-time customer so I'm hoping that I have a true "unlimited" plan that I paid for. I think the limits only apply to recently signed up customers.

Honestly, 5GB is a lot and if you are using your phones tethering to run your home internet well gotta put that one on you...haha. How many movies did you stream and were they in HD? =)
Throttling always stinks though...I am fairly new to TMO but is there a way to pay more to get it turned back on? Luckily I am on a huge business plan so we don't have throttling.

i usually do no more than 2gb a month. but i guess i went ape **** this month. must of been a few movies. i only tether when her wifi is down. now i have to wait until the 2nd of next month

he wasnt asking for that. he wants to know how much data he has used for the month. thats the my account app. you mistaken it for benchmarking the network speed

i upgraded to the 10gb cap because I burn through data like no tomorrow.
before I updated my plan I couldnt check my data use but they did throttle me.
many times before I had ran xbox live and world of warcraft through my phone and never got throttled. So I think they are watching closer!

How much for the 10 GB cap?

I hit the 5gb soft cap of the old "unlimited plan" about 6 months ago. I stream slacker radio from my desk almost all day every day. I hit it 2 days prior to my cycle so it was ok I think that month i hit 5.5gb's lol

Wow thats cool about the T-mobile "my account" app, I had never used that before lol. Maybe all this bloatware isn't as worthless as I thought? Regardless I'm interested to see how much data I'll gobble up a month with this phone...

i went over my 5gb data last month cause my internet went out and i tethered to my desktop. i did it for about 5 days (mostly nights when i am at the desktop) streaming youtubes and show series. my bill cycle was ending so i didnt care if i get capped but it really sucks because its god awfully slow..

Any good apps to manage battery life?

And no I'm not talking about Juice Defender. I'm looking for something that'll allow me to see which apps are keeping the phone awake and use the most battery life. Something is making my battery drain and I'm not sure what it is. There are people on here going 18+ hours with 5 hours screen time and still having 10% left. I typically get 2 hours of screen time before I'm dead. Check out my stats from today. I hardly even used the phone at all!
I've set all of the apps I actually use to sync on 1 hour or longer intervals. Nothing is syncing in 5 minute intervals or something.

I'm on AT&T and generally have close to full coverage. I'm never really in an area where I have poor reception. I'm on Wifi a good amount too.

I had the same problem (Android OS using HEAPS of battery)
update to ITL41F (ROM) & XXKK6 (Radio)
makes a world of difference - HEAPS!!

maybe try system panel but I don't think it works on pics yet.

Check out this screenshot... as soon as I turn on Wi-Fi, the "Awake" line becomes very active. Been going through the running apps, and killing off apps every 15-30 min to see when it stops.

Watchdog in the market will tell you what app is running in the background. When I push home instead of back when I use Dolphin Browser, watchdog tells me its running in the background.

Yeah it's suspiciously busy when the screen is off. I just removed all widgets and uninstalled the Weather Channel app. Things have improved a little.

Dude my battery life is even worse than yours. I am so frustrated too.

Sprint getting ready to remove unlimited?

I upgraded my line to the SGS3 yesterday and now I'm noticing that my usage says certain usage out of 4 GB. Not sure what's going on but it appears like Sprint may be removing the unlimited data feature soon? They've been changing a lot of things on their website lately.
Anyways, Overstew sent me this picture of his usage.

Very interesting. Can you hop on their support chat and ask why you're showing a 4GB data limit? Mine is still showing unlimited, but I have not made any account changes or upgrades since 9/2011.

Unlimited Data is practically the only thing keeping me on Sprint. Hell, even T-Mobile is better...

Just noticed that's my screenshot lol.
I'll chat with them and see but I don't really see myself getting an accurate answer from Sprint reps.

That's weird looking/ First is shows there's a 4Gb limit on 3g and then it shows same 3G data being unlimited. Did you photoshop this overstew?

Look at the date. It says from 7/1 to 7/1...

Looks like they prorated it for some unknown reason. The dates that say 7/1 to current are still unlimited.

Maybe it's just a 4GB limit per day.

It might have been a bug with the 1 second Leap Second that happened at the end of last month. Just a guess since the billing cycle for the 4GB above is from 4/1 to 4/1.

mine still says unlimited on 3g/4g. Must be a mistake on ur acct.

To tell you the truth I wouldn't mind if they did something like this. 4GB a day but still have unlimited data so u can use like 120GB in one month or maybe like 3GB or something. This will stop ppl that use wireless tether for free and download torrents all day and hog up all that bandwidth. Lol

a packet is a packet, doesn't matter if it comes from a phone, a computer, or a leap frog toy that your 2 year old son wiped his boogers on. anyone with a clue would know you can torrent on your phone too. did you also forget that some people have done away with cable and simply stream netflix and hulu via HDMI from their phones to their TVs? what about some of the new games that require hundreds of MB of additional data to be downloaded to your sdcard before you can even play it? should they get charged tethering fees for not tethering even though they're using the same amount of data as someone who is?

Cellular data was never meant to be a replacement for your home internet connection.
If you're going to stream Netflix or Hulu to your TV from your PHONE connection, then yes, I think you should get charged for that.

[Q] Massive Data Usage

Not really sure where to put this, but I am on a t-mobile network and have always had 2GB per month. For the past 2 years I have NEVER gone over that amount. So I upgraded to this phone this month and upgraded to 3GB of data per month. Now I have ten days left until my billing cycle ends and I am already at 2.96GB of usage?? I haven't used my phone differently and I use wifi almost exclusively in my house. I'm not calling conspiracy, but its weird that all of the sudden with a new phone and new plan my data usage goes up. Today alone I hardly used my phone but it says I used 275MB on Chrome. All I did was search a few things on google. No video or anything! Any thoughts??

I've had the phone for two weeks, I've been using Wi-Fi and data. I've only used 274mb so far that includes streaming music and some YouTube. Check under mobile data to see what's using What.. My data usage should be higher but there's no Rom to download lol

Actually you should dial #WEB# for an accurate data usage reading. I think I had the same issue as you. After my first day owning the device my data usage in settings showed approximately 500mb used...in one day mind you. Later I found out about the dialer code and relied on that solely as my meter, not even the lame T-Mobile usage app either since it didn't update for days at a time. I also upgraded from 1gb to 3gb mid cycle and watched my data go from about 900mb used down to around 500. Something funky is going on with the native usage meter.

Try turning sync off certain apps

Did you adjust the date on you usage cycle? I noticed while upgrading that this doesn't set itself so it might be reading data from before your new cycle started.

I can barely survive with 5gb. Lol

Below are my data logs. However, when I run #web# it reads 2765MB, but the Tmobile tracker shows 2956MB. I don't know which is correct, but it seems tmobile is using the higher amount as they have sent me alerts that I am near my limit. Also, i've read online that some people are showing that music streaming is causing their data to go up even though it shouldn't. I turned off all of my syncing and ran spotify for a couple hours last night and my usage DID go up. Maybe there is an ongoing issue with tmobile.

Your mobile tracks in precise measurements. Your carrier tracks in 1KB (or whatever) blocks. So lots of small usage will take up more allowance than it should.

LOL. I am an idiot. I expected it to work like the hidden menu, so I never pressed DIAL heh.
Doesn't work for me though, Australian provider. "Request unknown"

I have had 2gb a month for years and never even came close, 14 days into my first experience with T-Mobile and I'm at 3gb...
No idea what's going on, if anything I've used less data then I normally would.

Why didn't you just say #932# in the first place?

This sounds like a t mobile issue nation wide. The phone take e is usually fairly accurate on my phone experience

Settings > Mobile Data > see what is using up your data in there.
