I know there was an old threat of this.
But none of us fix this issue.
When I use the defy, there are always battery gap, no matter charging or discharge, which make me annoyed.
Example:discharge from 60% to 50% in 1 second.
And charge from 90% to 100% in 1 second.
I really hope there will be some developer to explain on this and give me a way to fix this.
Thanks for anyone who have paid attention on this.

yea .. same problem here ... nothing specific discussed anywhere .... though i think that the problem is with the battery now ( cause of frequent flashing of ROMS , restoring , ETC , the battery levels kept varying , and made the skips permanent )
.. thinking bout changing the battery
Me too.....from 56% to 49 % and from 28 % to 19 %.....and its charging for around 25 minutes around 80% ://
maybe you can try this method, exhausted of battery power, let your phone shut off Automatically, then plug your phone, wait for led turn blue then perss Volume
Down,Enter Recovery->Stable Recovery->Advanced->Wipe Battery Stats, then Go Back->Power off, don't unplug your phone untill the battery is full charged,
perhaps it will be helped to you sorry for my bad english

Anyone else got this? My battery should be fully charged in the morning with the green light on - but the battery is 91% (or 94% or 99%). Then if I plug the charger it jumps from 91% to 100% in seconds.
Just hope its just waiting few cycles to calibrate or something... :/
Yeah, it seems to sort itself out after a few charges.
same with mine, only just happened after the update
I have something else to share about battery charging after update. I usually charge my phone from my computer's usb port during the night.
However after the update USB charging is much slower than before. It would take about 4 hours to charge from empty, but since the updates it only charges with a rate of 13% every hour so it takes more than 7 hours to fully charge from empty.
Anybody else noticed this?

yeah, ive had these same exact issues. its so annoying. its just not worth charging via PC usb any more
The GTalk issue is out there again, not sure if its the culprit? I have unchecked the 'automatically sign in' and logged out, but it keeps turning on and logging me in by itself. Im sure its one of the reasons for the battery drain. Anyone else with this?
This morning it dropped from 100% to 88% in less than two hours without really doing anything with the phone...
this whole 'stopping charging till 90% once its reached 100%' issue is rediculous. I cant believe that HTC have added this to the update (cos it didnt happen before) for a phone where users rarely get a days usage out of the phone battery anyway! Now you even stand the chance of starting the day with 10% less charge than you should....rediculous!
if its something they want to include then thats fine, but at least give us the option of turning it off
This is from a german forum:
Let the phone empty the battery until it switch off for its own. Switch on again and do a new boot until the phone is switch off again. When switched off charge the battery completely with the original charger.
... and the 90% issue is gone
I have a second battery I never used before. Im going to put it to charge tonight - and let it do few complete full/drained cycles. Hope works ok.
Wonder if everyone else has the persistent GTalk on? I dont want it!! Arghhhhh....
I have the same issue with mine Desire after updating last week, just get the green light for a full charge and after a few minutes I check my battery widget and lol 10 % are gone.Any chances for fixing that issue?I would appreciate if anyone give a helpful advice.thanx in advance.cheers

The same here...
do we have new info about this issue ?
Is this such a huge issue then? I mean, sure you want it to show the correct %. But does it affect the total duration in any way?
The 10% can eventually level out when being used. I wonder if the device is at e.g. 30% it should actually be 40% in this case, or the 30% is actually quite accurate.
The % is an estimate to give a better representation how much there is left rather than just following the voltage drop. But in the end it will most probably be the voltage that makes the device decide whether or not the battery is empty.
Don't be silly, ofcourse this is a huge issue, did u ever seen such a issue on any other device, even devices of 5$ dont have this strange behavior.
Phone from such class to have such a problem, this is annoying.
And rather iPhone4 signal strenth issue i think here problem is software and it will be fixed
Comon, a 'huge issue'?! It's merely some % figure that's not shown correctly.
Oh well, I guess it's a compliment for the Desire then.. if 10% off is a huge issue, the rest can't be so bad!
Devices of $5 are really bad in showing correct percentages really. One part of the % goes fast, other slow and then suddenly fast again (you know, 1 out of 3 blocks left but flat battery in no-time, while the second block lasted hours and hours). Just because a device says it's 100% loaded, it doesn't mean it's actually correct.
That's why I wondered: Does it actually affect battery performance. If it does, then (and only then) you can call it a 'huge issue'. Otherwise I would just call it a minor annoyance. But obviously stuff like this might be personal eh!
But I'm quite convinced as well this is a software problem and can be fixed. I just don't think it will be very high on the HTC priority list
Ok, i agree its minor annoyance, but anyway it's annoying at least to me, you are right, this percentage may be fake, but for me it will be better if they show me real battery load
cheers
ps. i saw in your signature u r 1.15.405.4 - do u have this behavior on it ?
Well, the Desire is gone to be replaced now. But I didn't have this problem with my old Desire. Then that one got replaced (because HTC scratched it), and the new one did have this problem.
But now the Desire is off again because of weird touchscreen problem, so lets see how the new one holds up
hi guys ,
how is that possible when charging the phone, in less than 1 minute to reach 60% charged ?
i read about battery calibration but my phone isn't rooted , so i wonder if you guys know how to delete that "batterystats.bin" or whatever it is called without root , or another program or method to calibrate my battery correctly ?
here is an example in the photo

yea my fone has been doin sumthing similar to this it charges way 2 quick if i turn of the fone it will be on 30% then if i turn it on with in minutes goes stright up to 90%
Try not to discharge the phone until it stops and shut down. When you get the 5%remaining , plug the phone and all is good..I think that it's a 2.1 Bug.
thanks for info .
i charged to 100% , did a hard reset .
now i`ll try to plug it ONLY when 15% or less.
off topic : did find a solution for that high CPU metter from battery mix , that shows CPU over 90% all the time. (see the photo in 1st post)
that happened when i copied some old pictures and videos to the SD card.
i removed them from the SD , formatted the SD and everything is running oke now
That is very strange!
Maybe your battery is broken but first try the tip.
Mine does the same thing, it charges all the way to 90% in the first 10 minutes and then takes a few more hours to get to 100%. Battery lasts for 2 days though, and it seems to report the drain properly... weird.

hi all , i used my htc wildfire for 8 month and at first my battery displays 100% when its full but since 3 month till now it always display around ~ 40 - 60 % and can't increase more . So someone can help me . Thx for read and sorry for my bad english
Are you using custom ROM or the stock ROM that comes out of the box(Froyo v2.2) ?
If, you are on custom rom, then you may try deleting the batterystats.bin present in /data/system. But first charge your wildfire, and if your removing your wildy from the charger after it gets the green led indicator, then wait till it reaches the 100%. In my case my wildy gets the green indicator in 90% but I wait till it reaches the 100%.
So, when you get to 100 reboot into recovery and select the option "delete the batterystats.bin" in wipe section. and then use the phone till it reaches 20% and then connect to charger but this time make sure you do not use the phone till it reaches the 100%(you may charge it when its switched-off.).
Note: charging through USB connected to PC gives a better battery life than the adapter provided for charging.
If, you are not getting 100% as previously mentioned, then also you can try deleting the file using recovery. You can download an app from market which will also do the same "Battery Calibration".
I have same problem too. My battery charge till 75 % and then stopped, i charged it on turned off and then turned on. I tried to install Battery calibration but this app doesnt let to calibrate battery till is not on 100 %. Also I tried to unroot the phone, some say that it will helo but still useless.
Sent from my Wildfire using XDA
@Justin5 : "Also I tried to unroot the phone" if you haven't unrooted it then you can try to delete the batterystats.bin file from recovery(explained in the previous post). If you have unrooted your phone, then you will have the stock Sense ROM v2.2. In that case also, your battery backup will decrease.
So, better stick to any custom rom. I am now using SplashMOD v1.6. Its fast, stable and backup is also good with some customization. You can try CM-7,RemPuzzle also(try searching in CM7 post for the stable ROM, you can read reviews to get a better idea).
Note: You haven't told of the ROM you are using.
Batterystats.bin contains information about what uses the battery doesn't it? I don't think it tells it how much charge to hold + it gets deleted everytime you wipe and flash so I don't see how deleting that file can help.

I was reading an article on this the other day in the android forums, and I believe it was saying that wiping the battery stats does absolutely nothing even in regards to calibration. I might have read wrong but I'm sure that's what it was insinuating.
one minute it works, the next it doesn't......yes that's right its the crappy xda update.

Battery calibration does work (at least it did for me, when my battery discharged in 1 hour on my and worked normally after calibration on my tablet)
Don't shoot the messenger lol.the article (not me) was saying that just a good old discharge and recharge is enough and wiping stats is pointless. If I can find it I will link it.

deteling the battery status can work but if the battery has some damage will stay that way, i hate the battery for the wildfire, it does not last very long...

I also noticed the difference before and after wiping the batterystats.bin when I was in SplashMOD v1.0. The backup also get increased if the battery is charged through USB till it gets 100%.
But, If the phone has been continuously used without the complete charge cycle, then the battery life will get decreased.

I'll say it again for the hard of hearing, Its not possible for batterystats.bin to affect battery life in any way.
When you go to settings/battery where it tells you what %of the battery has been used by what, that is the only information stored in batterystats.bin and nothing else, it also resets itself every single time you fully charge the phone so no need to wipe it as chances are you already have not long ago.
Yes discharging the battery fully and then recharging fully will prolong battery life, but its not always practical to do so and even if you do, all batteries will come to the end of there life sooner or later.

hi guys
i just got new Xperia Ion 3 days ago .... to be honest moving from Sony Erricsson C901 to Xperia Ion is amazing
the Mobile is VERY STOCK .... no additional programs or anything ... NIL
however ... it's Heating up
and the battery lasts 6-9 hours with mixed use (wifi 2-3 hours + 15 min voice call+ 30% screen brightness + screen on time = about 2-3 hours as well )
tried with Brevia Engine On and Off
and tried with Sleep timeout 15 sec and 30 sec
people told me Smart phones consume battery massively .... but charging phone 2-3 times a day ... makes it undependable and more or less like home land line ...specially when i'm used to charge my old mobile after using 3G , Music , bluetooth tethering and Camera massively every 2 days at least
so please guys help me ...
i tried to reset the phone and see if it fix the problem , however nothing yet
should i send it back to the dealer , or is this normal or xperia ion
here are some screenshots attached
thanks
Screen time 2-3 hours, then you are experiencing a normal battery life.
With heavy use [considering screen on time at least 2 hours +/-) no one here gets more than 8-10 hours I believe.
Bro. I also face this problem. Hardly I can use my ion for 2-3 hours maximum. So I tried many ways to fix it. The best way I found was flashing CM10 ROM. I can use 8-10 hours in CM10. I think you can solve it by flashing CM10. Just an idea. Many people wants to keep there warranty. If you are one of them I don't recommend it. Sorry for my bad English.
My Ion had terrible battery life when it was new. It gets much better after about 2 weeks. It takes a while for the phone to learn the battery's charge cycle.

what can i do more !!
Screen brightness is around 20% ... and the ugly thing in this phone i donno why SONY wanted to save 2-3 dollars and don't put a light sensor on it !! -_- *DUH* Capitalism !

honestly this mobile is rubbish to the ground and this is the second time with sony mobile
the phone status deteriorated so fast that now i only have barely 2 hours screen time (20% brightness which is barely watchable) , and nothing is running in the back except avast anti virus , and battery manger
the phone gets SO HOT reaching sometime to 58 c and usually 45-48 c !!!
the normal slow charger (Laptop-USB / car-charger) is extremely slow to the level that after 7 hours of charging you get only around 60% charged , and if you are using the phone while charging the battery meter goes DOWN while charging and the phone gets very hot !!!
i'll return the phone after a month of use , but my only regret is that i listened to people here who don't even have the mobile or bother to read the details about the problem -_-
There is something wrong with ur phone. Mine doesnt get hot..
I´m using it in my car, too. I charge it and use it to navigate me around, and there is no battary drain.
Does the phone overheat? My xperia s did overheat couple of times and wasn't charging even though it was.connected.
I rebooted and it solved. I had to let the phone to be cooled down before running it again.
U could try rebooting. Try hard reset if noting works.
