My phone is the r800x and I'm currently on v5 of the GBtweaked rom. I installed the rom with the back up and used cwm recovery. When I installed the wifi fixes everything goes alright, but when I try to enable wifi I get an error. Anybody have any ideas?
Go back to the forum thread and keep reading. There are several post (including my own) regarding WiFi fixes.

Here is what I have done...
I installed Starburst ROM and did a back up before doing so. I kept getting LOS with Starburst so decided to go back to stock and booted in clockwork and did a restore.
Now, my phone will not connect to my home network. When I try, it sees the network but just says obtaining ip. I know it is not a network issue, but an issue with the phone. I am back to stock kernel and stock ROM. Should I have did a wipe before restoring?
Any ideas? Thank you in advance for any and all help/responces.
Just loaded rootish5 rooted kernel and wifi works... wonder why it doesn't work on stock.
I have the same problem. It worked before I rooted, now that I'm rooted running stock kernal, it says the same thing, "obtaining IP address" and it never connects.
I still don't fully understand how these Samsung android phones work as far as kernals and recovery, apparently you can't flash the recovery by itself, you need to flash a kernal with it, or the recovery is part of the kernal, I don't know.
It also works with the Zedomax kernel...
Maybe someone will be able to help!!
Thanks again for any and all assistance.
try using the zedomax kernal or LOSt kernal, that should help with your problem

FINALLY!!
I fixed it following these instructions...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282420
I did not do the factory data reset and I am good!!! Hope this will help you too.
I've searched the forum and can't see a solution to this problem.
My wi-fi keeps turning on even though I have switched it off and even if I put the phone in airplane mode, it switches back in.
Also, the GPS constantly tries to engage. The warning pops up which says, "By selecting "Standalone GPS Services", you are enabling access to all location information..." and it has 'disagree' and 'agree' at the end. If I click 'disagree' it goes away then reappears a short time later. If I click 'agree', the GPS goes on.
I have run an virus check which was negative.
I have ICS build 4.1.B.0.587 and it has recently been rooted.
I tried locking wi-fi with some software, but that didn't work.
Any ideas anybody?
if your phone is non-modded (custom kernel, rom etc.) re-install the firmware you're currently using by re-flashing it via flash tool 6 or higher..
if it is modded (root, rom, kernel etc.) re-flash the kernel or change it/re-flash the rom or change it

Thanks MrModMan, I did as you recommended. My phone was rooted, so I downgraded the kernel again (using the LT18i downgrade as I was told that this would be OK on my LT15i by another member), re-rooted using the DooMLorD tool, then flashed the kernel again (using the LT15i ftf for .587 build).
The problem still exists.
I suspected that it may relate to an app which uses GPS/Wi-fi connectivity, maybe Google Maps. I backed up Google maps, then uninstalled using Titanium Backup, but the problem's still there.
Here's an update. I reinstalled the latest version of ICS and have not rooted my phone, The phone is not now reconnecting to wi-fi and the GPS nag screen has stopped appearing, so evidently there is something wrong with the rooting procedure that I used for the .587 build of ICS. I can say that I did follow the procedure outlined on this forum to the letter. Maybe somebody with more technical know-how can determine what the problem is.
Hello all, I'm new to this forum and i got some questions, (I did research, but I haven't find answer for my Q).
Ok so I got installed custom ROM on .58 FW, and I want change baseband from -67 to -36. I went thru tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469473 I did everything exactly how its says in step by step guide. The problem is when phone boots it keep giving me wellcome screen, poping up msg what I dont have enough space for my SMS, and when I go into phones internal storage its nothing there, I mean it does not show how many free space left and how many used.
So my question is: ROM is not supported by this baseband because this ROM is based under BB -67 ? Or I need to do something else ?
I want have this baseband because sometimes when I use data internet on my phone it respond very slowly.. i.e. I browsing internet everything OK, then I switch off screen and turn it back on, then go into browser and press any link there, my phone shows what is sending data but not receiving, after some while everything comes back and working fine again.. It very anoing thing, and I want fix that somehow.. I had this problem before I started to do any flashing (I was with stock FW) and now after some flashing new ROMs and kernels I still having..
Any suggestions ?

No solution guys ?
You may want to try re-formatting (called a factory reset in CWR)
Get to your bootloader and the option should be there to delete the data/cache partitions.
Note - you should backup, nandroid, etc before doing this.
Thanks for the post, I will try as soon as I get home, hope this will help.

Hi,
I updated from MIUI 3.1.11 to 3.1.18 on my Desire HD and the WIFI stopped working completely.
With 3.1.18 it is not possible to turn WIFI on at all in the settings. It just stucks with WIFI is turning on.
I tried to go back to MIUI 3.1.11, but now I get every couple of seconds an error message that android.process.acore stopped.
Can somebody help me to find out if there is a way to get WIFI working on 3.1.18?
If there is no way to get it to work, Does anybody know what the root couse for the error message on MIUI 3.1.11 could be?
Thanks

Seems like you made a dirty flash try a clean install or maybe just wiping both cache's and fixing permissions could solve your problems
For a clean install:
Do a nandroid backup
Then wipe data ,cache,dalvik
And flash your full rom not an OTA.
WIFI and GPS Not Working Miui 3.1.18
I am having the same problem.
I had Miui 3.1.11 recently installed which I loved execpt my GPS was not working, but 3G and WI FI was working fine.
I received a notification that via OTA appp that update to 3.1.18 was available, however when I select the update it fails to download.
I then updated to 3.1.18 via clockworkmod update from zip which worked, however still no GPS and also now no WI FI available.
I then downgraded back to 3.1.11 via clockworkmod update from zip again, still no GPS but WI FI is working again.
Before installing the ROMS each time I wiped data, cache, dalvik (I tried to use FULL_WIPE_1.5_EXT4_ file recomended on instructions at XDA Jelly Miui download thread but this aborts during wipe with error).
Is there something wrong with my install or are these comon bugs with this custom rom?
Does anyone know a fix for these problems?
Any help greatly appreciated as I love the ROM but cant keep it if I dont have GPS or WIFI.
Flash latest version of KangBang kernel (2.5) and wifi will work again.
Here is a link to the kernel thread:

Don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik after flashing the kernel.

Hello,
My Note 2 was stock, and I decided to root it because I was having issues with the screen turning on and wifi sometimes not connecting. I used Odin to flash TWRP, installed a number of ROMs including Cyanogen and Liquidsmooth (currently on Liquidsmooth 3.2), and everything works fine now except that Wifi won't turn on.
I read that Kit Kat has caused wifi issues for some people, so I even downgraded to Jelly Bean (CM 10.2), but that did not seem to help. Does anyone know of any fixes for this or alternatively, any Lollipop ROMs that wouldn't have this problem?
[One thing I just noticed when I was double checking that I was on 4.4.4 was that the "About" menu shows my model number as GT-N7105 even though I downloaded the ROM for the SGH-t889. If that means I installed the wrong ROM, I can restore my backup of my stock ROM and start again if needed]
Thanks in advance.
Solved!
Just wanted to post that I figured out that if I install Liquidsmooth alone first, without adding google apps, the wifi worked. In fact, I may have just been stupid to install google apps since it appears that Liquidsmooth already had google apps...
But in any case, the wifi stopped working after I rebooted, so I installed Jedi ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-tmobile/development/rom-jedi-source-project-4-4-4-t2895948, booted up, then went to recovery and installed the google apps for Jedi from the same link, and everything has been working great since then.
Hope this info is helpful.
