I know, I know everyone has been saying that they are getting blurry mms's that's not what my question is about.
As per the suggestions I installed the cm messaging:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20738522&postcount=4027
After installing the app, the messaging icon appears on the home page and not in the bottom in the Dock with the "Phone", "Contacts", and "Application". Just wondering how to get it down there?
Also whenever I get a new text message and/or e-mail my lock screen doesn't turn on, and there is no Event Notification to unlock the screen and go immediately to either the text messaging app or the e-mail.
If someone could let me know how to fix these concerns or direct me to where I would be able to find the answers, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Go to drawer and hit the menu button, there should be like a edit function

Go to your app drawer, change view to customizable grid, then edit, now just drag it down

I did a search for this, and could not come across any relevant content. But I'm betting someone has had this question before.
Is there a way to prevent the SMS content from showing up in the status bar when I get a text? I know it only shows up for a few seconds, but nonetheless it is still a 'breach' of my lockscreen. I'm currently running SRF 1.1.0 if that's relevant. I'm aware of the programs like Handcent and Shady SMS, but those seem like overkill for this situation. Thanks in advance.
Oh, and for any SRF dev that might read this: I'm lovin' this ROM! Awesome speed with great battery life. You guys rock.

Go to messaging app, then menu, settings and disable notifications.

I'm aware of that option, but it was my understanding that unchecking that box would also stop me from seeing ANY kind of notification of an SMS in the status bar. I just don't want it showing the actual content of the SMS, but I still want to be able to glance and see that I have a message waiting. Am I wrong in thinking it will disable all status bar SMS notification?

It will remove the notification from the status bar but you will still get a lockscreen notification and a number on your messaging envelope.
Do you BONSAI?
Perhaps you should try another messaging app with more controls like Handcent or GoSMS. I thought one of them had this option for removing.
Do you BONSAI?
I'll check it out. Thanks for the info.

OK, so I'm willing to be the token newbie because this is driving me nuts. I want to replace the homescreen text msg icon with GO SMS PRO like I did on my Epic 4g. Anyone spare me a sarcasm laden solution?
Thanks!

Do u mean on the dock? It took me a while to figure it out too. Go your app drawer, make sure it's set on grid..and then drag the app you want to be in your dock down to where you want it
Go to apps
Press menu, Select grid
press menu, select edit (or customize, can't recall which command is displayed)
Swipe right/left between screens to locate desired icon
Long press desired icon and drag ic on to home screen icon area

Anybody have an answer for my biggest annoyance with my SGS2?
I am using Handcent for messaging with Swype - whenever Swype suggests a word it actually kicks the message panel UP a line. Sure, it really doesn't change the INPUT since that is on the keyboard, but when you are trying to go the message panel and tap or move the cursor, it really messes you up.
Anybody know how to move the word suggestions up to the TOP of the message panel or even KEEP the extra line open and blank instead of moving it around all the time?
Thanks!

Yeah, this is driving me crazy with this phone...anytime I'm txting, right now while posting to xda, the text box jumps up one line then down then back up.
It seriously is making me seasick..lol

anybody have any help on this?
You can always install the newest version of Sywpe. Had the same issue and installed a themed version of Swype and it doesn't do the realignment of the page after selecting a word.
Install the latest version of Swype through the installer and that fixes it. That annoyed the crap out if me before

Will installing the Swype beta overwrite our current version?

Yes it will.
I'm on rooted new ota. Ever since the update my text messages are showing in call log. When I select the view by option and change it to all calls it works for a while and then reverts back to showing text messages as well. I've searched but haven't found any solution. Is the a mod or other answer. Also, how do you kill the action where the screen turns on when receiving a text?
Have you try using go SMS? There is an option for the screen turning on and it won't appear in you call log I think

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm really looking for a mod rather than using a 3rd party app.
I've just upgraded from the original Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 to a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100
On my old Tab if there was a notification that was too long to fit on the screen I could long press on the notification and it would begin to scroll right to left allowing me to read the whole message. On my shiny new super phone that long press no longer works (instead it brings up a button for App Info which is no help at all!)
Is there a way to read the whole of a notification without having to go to launch the app associated with it?
Thanks!
In 4.1 JB you have to put two fingers on it and slide down to expand the notification. Although it doesn't work for all notifications.

Thanks for the reply.
That seems to work for Gmail but not for Pulse and if there is more than one email then the expanded version is basically no better than the unexpanded version. You still need to go from the notification screen to the Gmail inbox to see any of the message.
Seems a bit of a step backwards from the older version on Android.
